  1. Nope, they would be in the 99.73 and in the 99.9991% survival rates for both.
  2. I just googled "Who shouldn't get the COVID vaccine" and this was the first on list. It's the CDC, and I understand some may have a problem with them as a source. https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/vaccines/recommendations/underlying-conditions.html?s_cid=11413:who should not get covid vaccine:sem.ga:p:RG:GM:gen:PTN:FY21 I thought it was really interesting that they say that people with Guillian Barre Syndrome can get the vaccine. That's what this is all about, right?
  3. I've seen a lot of members against the vaxx quote this. But not many who do say that they've actually consulted with a competent medical professional. Edit: All 8 members of the FP and the 12 got it as soon as it was available to people over 70 years old. https://newsroom.churchofjesuschrist.org/article/church-leaders-covid-19-vaccine
  4. Carb's article and Neurotypical's post indicates NJ's unvaccinated survival rate would be 1-0.0027, so 99.73%. Survival rate of vaccinated people is 99.9991%. Yes, it seems like a small difference but like I said before, it's degrees of magnitude in difference. Edit: Just a little more maths. I took the difference of the rates. It's 0.26911%. Multiply that by the estimated world population of 7.5 Billion and it's 20,182,500. If everyone on the planet got the virus (which seems inevitable) , the difference if everyone were vaccinated or unvaccinated would be over 20 million deaths.
  5. I heard recently (I wish I could remember where) that generally humans have a hard time comparing very large numbers and very small numbers. Up front, most people don't see much difference between 10,000 and 10,000,000 or 1/10,000 and 1/10,000,000. Even though they are degrees of magnitude separated.
  6. That is sad. I admit that I and my family could do better at studying CFM throughout the week. But we do read from the sections almost every day as a family. And I don't think we need to, or are even asked to do any or all the extra little things in the manual. The intro says we should use the manual for our needs, in any way that is helpful to us. So we need to walk a fine line of encouraging people to do better at studying without overwhelming or discouraging them by asking too much. https://www.churchofjesuschrist.org/study/manual/come-follow-me-for-individuals-and-families-doctrine-and-covenants-2021/using?lang=eng I just got called as a gospel doctrine teacher (my first calling since being baptized again!) and I'm hoping that my class will be doing at least some reading. I'll try to figure out the best ways to encourage them to do more. My first lesson went very well last week on section 76
  7. Sorry, I must have skipped this line
  8. Maybe you have the threads mixed up. This thread is about a church-owned educational institution requiring a vaccine for admittance. And Kirk's article shows a strong antagonism against BYU-H. In this context, I'd say he's not on 'my' side.
  9. Very well said. My thoughts were along this line, but I couldn't articulate them. I still sometimes fall into the mindset of treating God like a vending machine, or maybe more like a slot machine. I put in my prayers, put in my effort and then hold out my hands for the blessings that may or may not come. This isn't the case, most of the time. Edit: I recognize that there are blessings tied to following specific commandments. But I think those are general for everyone and we're talking more about specific blessings for individuals.
  10. It could only be an improvement over normal Kraft Mac & Cheese 🤢 But I'll pass.
  11. I think of scene from Batman Begins when the thief grabs Martha's necklace.
  12. I feel that way myself. I think it's the nature of forums, social media, sound-bite culture to try to simplify things. We end up losing the nuances of topics. I know I have a difficult time expressing my thoughts in text format and become more confrontational than I do in person. This topic, like many others, isn't black or white, left or right, bond or free.....but when I respond to something, like I did about the World Doctors Alliance, I then get questioned about it overall and I feel almost compelled to defend things that aren't what I meant to.
  13. Brilliant product idea! Anchors A-Whey - A new dairy product that provides protein for newscasters to stay alert while on camera!
  14. Have you never watched NCIS????
  15. They claimed that COVID was a flu. They claimed it wasn't a pandemic. They claimed the PCR tests are highly unreliable. They made false claims about the timing and death rates from COVID in Ireland.
  16. It seems as if they are checking and updating these https://www.wusa9.com/article/news/verify/covid-deaths-car-crash-comorbidities-coronavirus-death-total-counts-john-hopkins-study/65-e3842ed2-f753-4a15-8b97-c2ae75c2b2ce
  17. I gotta admit, I do have a hard time believing anything from the World Doctors Alliance. https://factcheck.afp.com/world-doctors-alliance-shares-false-and-misleading-claims-about-covid-19-pandemic https://healthfeedback.org/claimreview/the-group-doctors-for-truth-spreads-misinformation-about-the-impact-of-the-covid-19-pandemic-the-virus-and-the-reliability-of-diagnostic-tests/ https://apnews.com/article/fact-checking-afs:Content:9573357676 https://www.newswise.com/factcheck/a-video-posted-by-a-european-based-group-called-world-doctors-alliance-falsely-claims-the-novel-coronavirus-is-a-normal-flu-virus
  18. I've heard that "rest" in this sense might not be like laying on a couch, but as in the remaining amount. Inheriting the "rest of the Lord" could be whatever we have not yet inherited, or the difference between what we have now (or at that moment) and everything else.
  19. There are a few hymns we sing in church that my family likes to alter a little to make them more fun. Anyone else do that and are you willing to share? Here are some of ours I am a Child of God ...has given me an earthly home with parents kind of weird Choose the Right Choose the Sprite when a Coke is placed before you Put Your Shoulder to the Wheel We all have work, let no one shark Thirteenth Article of Faith We believe in being honest, true, chased by elephants... And my kids personal favorite High on a Mountain top ...A badger chased a squirrel. But that's much better than the Elders chasing girls!
  20. Seems like you're having a lot of fun with it
  21. We did Independence Day weekend in Big Bear Lake, CA. That was fun, our first time up there. I just started a new job this week, so no vacation for me for 3 months My side of the family is having a reunion up at Bear Lake in UT (No relation to Big Bear). My wife is debating on going with the kids or not since I can't make it. And just staying indoors as much as possible. Southern NV in the summer is 🔥
  22. You got to meet Henry John Deutschendorf Jr.?!?!?
  23. I see more of what you're saying now. Sometimes while the sacrament is being passed, I want to get up and give a deacon or four directions on where to go to be more efficient.
