  1. I’d ask what the “Disney boycotters” (for lack of a better word) want. Disney can’t go back in time to when the LGBT community was ignored or dismissed by mainstream culture. I can’t help but think the people mad at Disney are more mad at a changing culture and are taking it out on Disney.
  2. Economic downturns that have little or no influence with the small minority of people who are boycotting. Inflation is up all around, I expect more CEO firings to happen. Just because these things happened at the same time doesn’t mean they are connected. There’s an interesting thing going on too. On one hand, people fear the “woke corporations”, but if they were truly woke, wouldn’t they just ignore the worried parents and keep Chapek in?
  3. We don’t disagree that some parents dislike the “woke” Disney turn. No argument there. We also agree that haters gonna hate. Where we differ is their size and influence. As someone who goes to Disney 40+ times a year I remain convinced that there are many, many families who swallow a bitter pill and still enjoy Disney, regardless of political/social disagreements they have with the company. The families who have “boycotted” Disney are largely the same who have “boycotted” Nike, the NFL, etc. They mean well, are overwhelmingly decent people, but have no idea how small their influence really is. They are not the mouse that roared, pun intended.
  4. The irony here is that people complained about Iger too when he was in charge, but that's understandable. Sadly, a small but loud minority of people just genuinely enjoy complaining and will never be happy.
  5. Well, Disney haters/and fans will have to find someone else to whine about. Reports breaking late Sunday state that Chapek was fired. Still developing.
  6. I’m not saying that doesn’t happen, but the overwhelming majority of illegal drugs comes from other entries and is smuggled by US citizens. https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/politics/2019/01/16/fact-check-mike-pence-donald-trump-drugs-crossing-southern-border-wall/2591279002/ https://www.cato.org/blog/fentanyl-smuggled-us-citizens-us-citizens-not-asylum-seekers
  7. Your side should be opening champagne now bro. That cost him greatly in 2020.
  8. No way. I can’t imagine 99% of free speech advocates being cool with the speech you are describing, especially LDS. We (free speechers) accept it as a disgusting by product of freedom. It’s allowed because the alternative (restricting speech) is worse.
  9. Oh okay. Thanks.
  10. I’ve wondered about that before. What happens if the ward is just starting and there aren’t enough worthy priesthood holders for a bishop to call multiple counselors?
  11. I generally agree this form of protesting is relatively useless. However, I’d rather people do things like this than storm the Bastille and cause widespread death and misery. These things, while annoying and criminal (yes, it’s vandalism) beat the alternative.
  12. Bishops are human too. If you tell the guy that you are exhausted (and you have every right to be) I’m confident he’ll understand and back off.
  13. The only poll that matters is the one taken on election day. After Dewey “defeated” Truman and Hillary one Texas in 2016 we should have learned not to trust polls.
  14. You don’t think it’s insulting to those who died in Stalin’s prison camps? Or those who were persecuted just for being Jewish in Nazi Germany?
  15. Whoops! Had you pegged as a Bernie supporter. My bad.
  16. Yeah, sorry @Godless but it’s a massive stretch when the left does it too.
  17. https://politi.co/3UNDBpP?fbclid=IwAR0VP3pvPtAtqSFcfkFGQlmp4NvIuCrYfhkmqwpfNcVG8TE1yE9eZieA5YY&mibextid=Zxz2cZ speaking of 1984, a federal judge who never read the book or vastly misunderstood it cited it when they struck down part of our anti woke law. It’s wrong when the left does it too.
  18. Oh, all good points. @Vort will know better than I will of course but the ones who are still alive probably don’t want to talk about it. They were from that generation that kept quiet about those things. My grandfather (An American, for the record) fought in WWII but he “almost never spoke about it” according to my dad.
  19. Well, to be fair, I don’t blame you. Not only is it historically ignorant, it’s also pretty insulting to those who died.
  20. I’ve always wanted to ask people who lived through the Holocaust if they care about people comparing how we live in America today to Nazi Germany. Oh sure, some might agree. But I think the vast majority of those who have actually lived under the horrors of communism/Nazism would either laugh or be appalled at the comparisons.
  21. It bothers me too, and you know what bothers people like this more than anything else? Laughing at them. I’m glad this chap went viral.
  22. I used to think it was always better to win than to lose, especially in politics. Now, I’m not sure I was right. It the economy goes under it’ll cost the democrats dearly.
  23. Looks like the GOP will keep the house.
  24. Thank God the cop is okay.
