  1. Oh, I understand fully my friend. I have been done with several relatives as well, and when they die, well, let’s just say I won’t be out there lighting candles and singing hymns with everyone else. But everyone, and every family is different. Regardless, I’m praying for you and your family. Sending love your way.
  2. It’s complicated. I’ve skipped the funeral of an uncle I barely knew and no one cared, but every family is different. No regrets on my part, but I’ve heard stories, heartbreaking ones, of people who skipped funerals and weddings and who regret it the rest of their lives. Same with those who barred relatives from attending funerals and weddings. Think very carefully @Backroads. You are still a young women, and you don't want to deal with regret your entire life
  3. Slightly off topic- Super Mario Brothers for the NES is the Daddy, folks. The rest just can’t compare.
  4. I cringe to think of divine justice, because in that case we are all doomed. Yes, I include myself, the kid, the old man, @NeuroTypical and you reading this. I pray for divine mercy.
  5. Immoral? Absolutely. Couldn’t agree more. Horrible, horrible horrible. A true tragedy. This is actually incredibly unpleasant to defend the kid. This is not about racial slurs or free speech. The awkward truth is that the old man apparently ASKED TO FIGHT and then took aggressive action. He opened his mouth (take away the slur) and backed it up by acting aggressively, thus forcing the kid to act in self defense. The old dude was causing problems and they must have been bad enough he was asked to leave. He left, then parked his car and returned and was asked to leave again, started throwing the racial slurs and stepped towards the young man challenging him to a fight and the young man punched him once in the jaw causing the old dude to fall backwards and strike his head on the pavement. The old man clearly planned the assault by yelling, refusing to leave, and then escalating the situation by stepping forward towards him. A reasonable man would conclude he was about to get assaulted. Yes, even a 77 year old can strangle someone. Yes, even a 77 year old can conceal a gun/knife, etc. Corey swung once, and once that situation was defused, he stopped the action. It’s different than having car trouble, yelling “I’d sell this thing for a dime!” And then refusing when I give you a dime two seconds later. They had time to “cool down”. Age does not mean you are not accountable for your words and actions, sadly. You know me @NeuroTypical. I’m really stupid, naive, immoral and evil incarnate (someone actually called me that. I liked it so much that I stole it as a nickname) . But, silly me, I still think words (and, cough cough, actions) have meaning. Regardless of age, if you ask someone to fight, you are, at least partially accountable for your black eye. Or, tragically, must worse.
  6. After my second shot I felt absolutely awful for 24 hours. Aches, fever. @Midwest LDS (shout out to my boy! Love you bro!) warned me about them and he was so right.
  7. My mom is a big fan so I know a lot of his songs (Joel).
  8. Wow! I had no idea. I admire him as an artist but I have a vastly different taste in music. That said, my first slow dance was to one of his songs! Wherever Eileen Whatsherface is, I hope she’s happy!
  9. He was HIV positive when he died? Not challenging you, just surprised. I DID know he was a believer in God. He even had a swear jar in his music studio.
  10. Calling me a liar shows your lack of honor and integrity. It’s very validating to see. I was correct. Keep it up tough guy. Once again, your true colors are showing.
  11. Actually I was deadly serious in your case. Not joking. That’s between friends. Try to intimidate someone else. I’m not afraid of you. You can bully others, but not me. And you hate that. You are showing your arrogance and stupidity by claiming you know my personality and intentions.
  12. Hey, just pretend she was a woman exposing her shoulders. Then she would have deserved being cat called, so it’s the same thing taken to another level. there. Last word is all yours.
  13. Much. And again, I said the kid deserved time. Something else you conveniently ignored. see you in church. 😘
  14. You say “murder” but you are clearly unable to comprehend the he was charged with manslaughter. Big difference you don’t grasp. And, and-again-he challenged the kid.
  15. And I also said “manslaughter”, that it wasn’t justified, and he should do jail time. So there’s that too. Which you either ignored or refused to read.
  16. Welcome. And you ignores the part where the old guy ASKED HIM TO FIGHT.
  17. It’s unbelievable to me that you fail to comprehend how disgusting these words are, and how your actions have consequences, so we’re pretty much equal here.
  18. Oh!! I’m SO GLAD you said that. The “victim” here apparently repeated the slur multiple times, left his truck and challenged the kid to a fight. The kid took him up on the offer. So...there’s that.
  19. It’s actually quite true, thanks. You have free speech to say what you want, but if I call Mike’s wife and daughter filthy names, I’m asking to get attacked. Should I be attacked? Of course not, but I’m still asking for it.
  20. All true. To be 100% clear, the kid is the bigger criminal here. Yes, he deserves jail time. Probably 7-10 years. BUT You know how this could have been avoided? How he could still be alive? By keeping his mouth shut. No racial comment, no attack. So the kid isn't a murderer, he’s a punk who can't control his temper. Which, like I said, is also horrible. When your Uncle Joe said “Don’t let your mouth write a check your butt can’t cash” he was crude, but also accurate. Again, I’m not saying it’s right, and I’m not saying that the old guy deserved to die. Though honestly, I’m not going to lose much sleep over one dead racist who flipped out over not getting his coffee on time. In fact, if you have that much hate in your heart like this guy obviously did, I assume living is as bad a punishment as death is.
  21. Yeah, that’s just as awful. No doubt.
  22. Oh, agree totally. It IS inappropriate for a worship service. I have heard references to Glenn Beck, Rush Limbaugh, and once to Michael Savage (remember him?). All by three different people. And yes, dropping names of leftwing commentators who you admire is also highly inappropriate at a church. We are there to worship Him, not your political heroes.
  23. An old joke I heard from a member (and he was conservative, but had a sense of humor) “You could be forgiven if you thought that testimony Sunday was just the congressional GOPs prayer hour.”
