  1. Sorry my friend, but Biden is president. Trump lost.
  2. Trump won because he wasn’t Hillary. The moment the democrats ran anyone other than her, he lost. Now, back to division for a second. Did Obama help? Not really. Like many others here I also think he was not a great president. He didn't start the division though. We’ve been very divided as a nation for 100+ years now. And that’s okay. Frankly, I don’t want to unite politically with people who don’t share my values. I’m blessed with having right wing friends, left wing friends and apolitical friends. I have a great ability to be friends with people who I don’t agree with politically. One thing we all agree on is that we’d never vote for one another if we ran for office!
  3. I’d love for politics to be a pretty, polite game between gentlemen but that’s so naive that it’s a little ridiculous. The truth is that if someone can’t handle division, personal attacks, one side winning and one side losing-they should not even think about following politics.
  4. All good points. You might be right.
  5. Chilling. And let’s be honest. Democrats would have a huge problem here if the justices were going to overturn Heller vs DC and a conservative law clerk leaked this. Hypocrisy at it’s finest.
  6. I feel it was the Clinton impeachment that really stepped it up. However, we were always divided as a country. Look at political cartoons from the Civil War. They were brutal.
  7. Republicans don't want it either, but I think the word “compromise” in politics is silly. Will pro lifers “compromise” with pro choicers? Who budges? Who gives what up? Also, no one wins a “compromise”. All you do is anger the bases of both parties. The “reasonable moderate voters” don’t exist in great numbers anymore. Compromise is great in your personal life but seldom works out in politics.
  8. That’s cool. I totally disagree, but if that’s “your view and you are sticking with it.” It’s pointless to explain any further.
  9. Right, that was also an insurrection. Hideous, actually.
  10. Oh, we agree on that. We differ here: if the Qanon crowd were leftists, the right would think it’s an insurrection bordering on the Storming of the Bastille.
  11. Perhaps. Whatever the reasons, let’s not forget that the last “insurrection” no matter how laughably inept, was not put on by the left.
  12. The same things the Qanon crowd did when Trump refused to accept that he had lost?
  13. That’s so cool @Jane_Doe!
  14. Amen. It’s crucial to remember that there were actual Holocaust survivors who maintained hope, happiness and even faith. If they can do that, what excuse do I have?
  15. I felt the same way in 07, without kids of course. I remember thinking “This is our generation’s version of the great depression.” Thankfully it wasn’t that bad. Hope you and your family are riding the storm out my friend.
  16. Hey, fair point. Regardless though, the hard right has still gone nuts. When pro life, pro gun, anti tax people are kicked out because they don’t bow to supreme commander Trump :: cough cough :: Liz Cheney there’s an issue. Ironically I still vote mostly republican because they are, amazingly, the lesser evil.
  17. We’re still praying for you bro. Thanks for the update.
  18. You are correct, the GOP has gone off the ladder as well. Though it’s hard to tell. 30 years ago moderates like Chafee, Jeffords, Olympia Snow were tolerated and nominated by their party. Now, no moderate would even try. They’d get crushed in the primary. Also, while there has always been liberal litmus tests (try being a pro life liberal) republicans want to want play that game too. Try being a conservative and wearing Nike shoes or going to an NFL game. Essentially, republicans have turned into liberals without changing their politics. I expect liberals to be thin skinned, not tolerate dissent and have no clue what the word “irony” means. I never expected it from republicans.
  19. No real changes here from my pre Covid life.
  20. That’s fine @Just_A_Guy. Let’s remember that at this time, nothing is certain about the opinion. So while the left is screaming in agony (and it’s fun to see) and the right is lighting up victory cigars, this libertarian is telling both sides that it’s best to chill until further notice.
  21. This could be a problem for the republicans in November, just like how the gay marriage ruling in Massachusetts helped push W Bush to the win in 04.
  22. Wow! Very cool my friend, thank you for sharing. Awkward conversations for sure!
  23. Hey, totally legit points.
