CRITIC/RESPONSE >>We may not understand quantum mechanics, but we can see that it works Can you tell me that you PERSONALLY have seen it work? Or do you depend upon the testimony of others who have seen it work, after the proper equipment and procedures have been made. >> it produces tangible, consistent results If the equipment does not work properly (not calibrated, power is turn off, etc), the proper procedures not followed, Obviously the failure of the experiment does not disprove QM. QM is still "there" and it is up to the scientist to find it, so to speak. >> Religion does no such thing. And you know this... how? I have personally seen it work under the proper procedures. Quite frankly, I really don't care whether you accept my personal witness or not. This is a personal decision, your personal burden to find out for yourself. You can give me clever arguments and rhetorical fireworks on why you won't do it. Again, that is something between you and Father.

CRITIC ExMormon continues to argue and show how he knows it all. RESPONSE I wish you all the best. I fear that the path you have chosen will lead you to a very dark place. You now have the last word.

I think it was Elder Pres. Eyring who gave a talk on the process of assigning missionaries. Very interesting.

MAFIA OFFERING TO PROTECT NYC FROM ISISThe son of a New York mob boss has given Islamic State a stark warning, saying if they are planning any attacks in New York, they will have to contend with the Sicilian mafia. The notorious crime syndicate say they want to do their bit to protect locals.Giovanni Gambino, the son of a key figure in the Gambino mob organization, says the mafia is in a much better position than security bodies, such as the FBI or Homeland Security, to give New Yorkers the protection they need. https://www.rt.com/usa/323032-mafia-isis-warning-gambino/ Blood in the streets.

CRITIC Moroni is a French Name Ammon is etc etc (antiMormon garbage) RESPONSE You are confused. This name is the name of a city in Madagascar. Look up "New York" in the french dictionary, and you will find that it also is "French". It's just a city name and not a french word. http://en.bab.la/dictionary/english-french/moroni http://en.bab.la/dictionary/french-english/new-york In your "15" times that you read the BOM, did you run across these words==>> sheum, Paanchi, Pahoran. These are authentic ancient names in Akkadian and Egyptian. Ammon is from the Egyptian Amun "was a major Egyptian deity and Berber deity. He was attested since the Old Kingdom together with his spouse Amaunet. With the 11th dynasty ( c. **21st century BC**), he rose to the position of patron deity of Thebes by replacing Monthu." -- google "Amun" You should read the Parable of the Sower, especially [11] Now the parable is this: The seed is the word of God. [12] Those by the way side are they that hear; then cometh the devil, and taketh away the word out of their hearts, lest they should believe and be saved The enemy has stolen your testimony, they have poisoned your mind with garbage. And now you are trying to do the same.

Nothing like a cell phone ringing in the temple in a locker while "someone" is away on a session. I heard about it later, and I now keep it in the car when I go. BTW, the quickest way to stop it is to hold down the key that shuts down the phone.

I don't have the sources, but when I remember as a young member of the church that there would be a great separating process in the church, and we were admonished to keep our eye on the prophet and the apostles. That day has coming, and has only just begun in my understanding of events. We already have those in high positions (Swedish Area Authority)who have left the church and have become enemies of the church. I think it may eventually reach to the Q70 itself. Just go and look at church history.

CRITIC I have no need for God RESPONSE Paul Woodruff tells us what is missing in those who cannot find God in their lives. Reverence begins in a deep understanding of human limitations; from this grows the capacity to be in awe of whatever we believe lies outside our control—God, truth, justice, nature, even death. The capacity for awe, as it grows, brings with it the capacity for respecting fellow human beings, flaws and all. This in turn fosters the ability to be ashamed when we show moral flaws exceeding the normal human allotment. (quoted in a BYU devotional)

A Mormon Bishop's Guidebook - Advice from the trenches
cdowis replied to chathamsolutions's topic in LDS Gospel Discussion
I sent it to a High Counselor in my stake. They interact directly with the bishops and I think they would be interested in his ideas, especially for a new bishop or in stake priesthood leadership meetings. -
A Mormon Bishop's Guidebook - Advice from the trenches
cdowis replied to chathamsolutions's topic in LDS Gospel Discussion
I shared this with a friend in the church, and he wrote me back: Thank you. I read the Guidebook and had thoughts about how to address someone in my personal ministry. It's a matter with which I have struggled. I'm not sure what precisely in the Guidebook triggered the thoughts, but they came while considering this brother's experiences. Thank you for following the prompting to share this material with me. -
RULE #1 You won't find the truth here in a discussion with us. Read the Book of Mormon with an open mind and pray to God whether it is true. If it is true, then Joseph Smith was a prophet, if not, then he was no better than any other theologian or scholar in the Christian churches. The truth will indeed set you free, but that is your burden, not ours. That's between you and the Lord. Apologetics is a hobby, like chess combined with football.

Medicare == they need to get medicare advantage -- many of them is zero premium. This is a combination of medicare with a private insurance plan. Before signing up, check with the plan to see if they are able to get the pen right away. Their rules tend to be more flexible than traditional medicare. Also, many plans have a dental, vision and hearing option. My plan (Aetna) includes no charge fitness center membership. I go to the pool three times a week to exercise. There is zero premium for the If medicare advantage is not available in your area, you may want to check out a Part D add on to medicare.

One obvious application would be to bring disaster relief supplies to remote areas. That has always been a problem. All you need is a large field and plenty of manpower to offload the supplies. I wonder about the maximum range and flight ceiling.

Tthe mainstream media is now criticizing the failed strategy dealing with ISIS. http://video.foxnews.com/v/4618848593001/media-slam-obamas-post-paris-attacks-speech/?intcmp=obnetwork#sp=show-clips Incredible!

"It's over -- We've lost" Let's go over some updates. --After the attack in Paris, firmly declares to the world that there will beno change in policy -- "ISIS is contained" --Characterizes the slaughter in Paris as merely a "setback" in his policy --Imports Syrian immigrants, without informing the Governor or state authorities of their presence. Bypasses state authorities and goes through non-profit charities. --Threatens to veto legislation that would require strict vetting of those immigrants for terrorism. --Ridicules those who disagree with him --> "They are afraid of widows and orphans", etc. --A senior Senator who is a member of his party, Senator Feinstein, criticizes his lack of leadership and failed policy http://www.politico.com/story/2015/11/dianne-feinstein-obama-isil-215935

3 Nephi 21 [11] Therefore it shall come to pass that whosoever will not believe in my words, who am Jesus Christ, which the Father shall cause him to bring forth unto the Gentiles, and shall give unto him power that he shall bring them forth unto the Gentiles, (it shall be done even as Moses said) they shall be cut off from among my people who are of the covenant. [12] And my people who are a remnant of Jacob shall be among the Gentiles, yea, in the midst of them as a lion among the beasts of the forest, as a young lion among the flocks of sheep, who, if he go through both treadeth down and teareth in pieces, and none can deliver.

Dawkins actually refuted and utterly destroyed the Book of Mormon with one simple observation, that it was written in an archaic language. End of discussion for many of his fans and devotees.

7. No The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is a theocracy. (Cdowis lds.net 11/18/2015) Look it up in the dictionary. Orson Pratt has been willing to share his opinion on many subjects. To quote him is like quoting something I posted here on lds.net.

CRITIC why would a book be written in a defunct dialect? ... why would it be translated into an old language? surely a translation would be in a language people speak unless he wanted it to sound official. (based on comments by Hitchens and Dawkins) RESPONSE Yeah, this is Dawkins silly argument. "The impact of the King James Bible, which was published 400 years ago, is still being felt in the way we speak and write, says Stephen Tomkins. "No other book, or indeed any piece of culture, seems to have influenced the English language as much as the King James Bible. Its turns of phrase have permeated the everyday language of English speakers, whether or not they've ever opened a copy." http://www.bbc.com/n...gazine-12205084 Dawkins, may know science, but he is culturally illiterate. He does not appreciate Shakespeare and certainly not the language of the King James Bible. This is, even today, considered as the language of the scriptures and the epitome of the English language. It is the Word of God.
