  1. Will there be Bacon in heaven?
  2. Well, My wife is a convert, and her entire family is "Whip-you" Catholic. She told her family and her mother flipped out, as was to be expected. however, after she did convert, things went back to normal in thier family. And recently her dad sent us a text message telling her how proud he is of our family and they notice how much our life has improved since we got married. I know they see the impact the gospel has had on our life and it will serve as an example to them. I cannot tell you what your family will do, but they are your family, just love them for who they are. It is not your fault because of thier predjudice. do not deny yourself eternal blessings because those around you are mocking and pointing fingers, it is just as lehi's vision. in 1st Nephi.
  3. I got married beofre i could repent. my wife and i were living together when i decided to re-activate in the church. My bishop's counsel to me was that marriage can help because then you have one less thing to worry about. We recently were able to go to the temple and get married last month
  4. lol, Dogma was a pretty funny movie as well. I sometimes poke fun at our own doctrines as well. like 2 Nephi 9: 51 Wherefore, do not spend money for that which is of no worth, nor your alabor for that which cannot bsatisfy. Hearken diligently unto me, and remember the words which I have spoken; and come unto the Holy One of Israel, and cfeast upon that which perisheth not, neither can be corrupted, and let your soul delight in fatness. oh i get a kick outta that one.
  5. The Persecutions will come int he forms of freedom of speech, ect... it will be just like the old days but less lethal.
  6. The entire ceremony is published in the library of congress, but i am not sure if that implies a copyright or not.
  7. Everyone needs to read this article: MormonTimes - Letters better off not sent
  8. i read it as soon as it was posted yesterday and i have got to say that I love how the church handles these things respectfully and with wit as well. My favorite part of the Commentary is the ending: If the Church allowed critics and opponents to choose the ground on which its battles are fought, it would risk being distracted from the focus and mission it has pursued successfully for nearly 180 years. Instead, the Church itself will determine its own course as it continues to preach the restored gospel of Jesus Christ throughout the world.
  9. And youa re right, my statement was incomplete... There are those that fold under the temptations because there is so much of it in abundance where there is the greatest influence to do good. Satan tries his hardest in the places that are not so easy. And it is sad that he succeeds in those places. It's very similar to how the Nephites became wicked and prideful.

    Family blog

My wife has done a wonderful job updating and mantaining our family blog. we were recently married in the temple and she just posted pictures from that day online ourfamilyofsweets.blogspot.com
  11. Every marriage has those things, they come and go. you have to remember that in the happiest of marriages, there is at times the worst sadness. "Opposition in all things." Not every marriage can or ever will be picture perfect. But the Good in life completely outwieghs the Bad when you have the savior in your life to help you. Marriage is not just between you and your spouse, but it is a 3 way commitment between you, your spouse, and God. In Alma 33: 23 And now, my brethren, I desire that ye shall plant this word in your hearts, and as it beginneth to swell even so nourish it by your faith. And behold, it will become a tree, springing up in you unto everlasting life. And then may God grant unto you that your burdens may be light, through the joy of his Son. And even all this can ye do if ye will. Amen
  12. I want to tell you that you should NEVER feel stupid. sometimes things happen that are out of our control. However, It is easy to be taken advantage of when you are not cautious. But do not ever feel like you must feel stupid. we are here to make mistakes, repent and move on with our lives learning all that we can from our experiences here in this life. Please Fast, and pray as soon as you can. Ask the Lord to help you know what is right. and i promise you that the lord will tell you what to do be it through a thought or feeling, or somethign someone else says, but at that moment you will know you have an answer to your prayers. I placed an ultimatum to my wife right after i talked with the bishop when i became reactivated in the church. It was the scariest thing i think i have ever done. We either had to get married or find separate living arrangements. She began to distance herself from me but she did not give me an anwser yet. I felt as if i were going to lose her and i truely loved her, so i prayed and fasted. I needed to know what to do, and while i was praying i felt a simple thought come into my mind and i knew what i had to say to her. so i got up and went into the other room where she was, Said what i had to say. she just looked at me and said "Ok". We were married 3 weeks later and it has been the best thing in my life so far, bar none. My point to this story is not how to "save your relationship", my point is that the Lord answers prayers, and that your dillema sounds strikingly similar to that of my own a few years ago. It requires faith. it requires a willingness to do what is asked of you. but, most importantly, it is worth it.
  13. None, my wife makes me do that, she's afraid of spiders.
  14. Quoted from a Conference talk given by Carlos E. Asay, “Opposition to the Work of God,” Ensign, Nov 1981, 67 On November 1, 1857, Elder George A. Smith delivered a memorable discourse, which included this old Chinese fable: “A man travelling through the country came to a large city, very rich and splendid; he looked at it and said to his guide, ‘This must be a very righteous people, for I can only see but one little devil in this great city.’ “The guide replied, ‘You do not understand, sir. This city is so perfectly given up to wickedness … that it requires but one devil to keep them all in subjection.’ “Travelling on a little farther, he came to a rugged path and saw an old man trying to get up the hill side, surrounded by seven great, big, coarse-looking devils. “ ‘Why,’ says the traveller, ‘this must be a tremendously wicked old man! See how many devils there are around him!’ “ ‘This,’ replied the guide, ‘is the only righteous man in the country; and there are seven of the biggest devils trying to turn him out of his path, and they all cannot do it.’ ” (Journal of Discourses, 5:363–64.)
  15. Funky, People who don't want to face responsibility are just scared. Scared of the consequences. When they realize the consequences are worse when not taking responsibility, they change, I know that for a fact because i did. I was alot like this young man who she speaks of in my early youth. I convinced myself i was just "damaged" which started as a lie until i believed it myself. The Gospel changes people. That is really what the gospel all about. Saying people cannot change and calling things "dealbreakers" from the get-go does not sound very forgiving and is flat wrong. to "Become" something implies change. and are we not exhorted to "become like a little child?" Now, i do not even pretend to know the heart of this young man or the OP, I know for a fact people change when they gain a testimony. And sometimes it DOES take a while, sometimes it takes heartbreak and pain and suffering. I was told by the Lord what i needed to do even though my wife was not a member of the Church. I'm not saying the lord will tell people the same thing, But you have to be willing to submit yourself to the Lord and do whatever he says. You must trust that he will guide you down the correct path. I was prepared to end my relationship with my wife if that was what the lord desired of me to do, but he didn't he had a plan and he has taken wonderful care of my family over the past 2 years. none of us on the forum are equipped to tell this person what to do with thier life. The Lord prepares people for thier trials in life in very strange ways sometimes. The best thing she can do is pray about it for herself, and trust that the Lord knows what he is doing.
  16. I was struggling a couple years ago and yes, i was also scared to go to my bishop. But Trust me, the bishop experience is NOT a scary thing. It is a wonderful experience if you are there to truely turn your life around. But you have to resolve to do WHATEVER the bishop will ask of you. You need to pray about things and talk with your heavenly father to know if this David person is the right person for you. It does not matter what his testimony is like right now. If the Lord says so, it will all turn out wonderful in the end. My wife and I got married civily first and we recently got sealed in the temple. she was not a member when we got married, but 6 months after we got married I was able to baptise her. It may be that he is looking for a way to go back. It sounds like he loves you but is scared to go to church because of Sin. I know that is how i felt about it. If you do get married, it can provide a way for you two to truely repent and work on a real meaningful relationship and help to strengthen eachother's testimonies of the gospel. But trust in the Lord, he knows what he is doing. The Lord knows what we need in order to get our life back on track, and sometimes you find those things in the most unlikely places. No matter where you go or what you do the Lord has a place and a purpose for you. Start paying your tithing, reading scriptures together, praying every morning and night and you will see the difference it makes in your life. I know those things are difficult to remember sometimes but they are indeed necessary. I know from personal experience. I have been on your side of the fence before and i never want to go there and it pains me to see others who are in the same boat I was in. I wish so much for them to follow the savrior's voice and come back to the fold. I promise you that if you follow the Bishop's counsel and pray about what to do that you will know for a sureity the choices you make will be the right ones. Your life will change forever.
  17. I also had time to think about it, cool off, and read a lot of online responses last night. The producers want to provoke a reaction from us. I gave a lesson in priesthood 2 weeks ago about not leaving High ground. Lehonti in the Book of Mormon gave in and left high ground when his enemies taunted him and provoked him, and he left the safe places where he had the advantage and his entire army was overtaken. On the other hand we have Nehemiah who did the opposite: NEHEMIAH CH. 6 1 NOW it came to pass, when aSanballat, and Tobiah, and Geshem the Arabian, and the rest of our enemies, heard that I had builded the wall, and that there was no breach left therein; (though at that time I had not set up the doors upon the gates;) 2 That Sanballat and Geshem sent unto me, saying, Come, let us meet together in some one of the villages in the plain of Ono. But they thought to do me amischief. 3 And I sent messengers unto them, saying, I am doing a great work, so that I cannot come down: why should the work cease, whilst I leave it, and come down to you? It is still hard to not want to punch Tom Hanks in his glasses, but anger is exactly what the adversary wants.
  18. would not suprise me in the least.
  19. The difference is that the Catholic church does not take measures to keep those things sacred and not discussed among the general public. Someone mentioned "how it is different than someone publishing this stuff ont he internet?" and I say it is completely different for instance some jack decides to make a mockery of the LDS church on his website, most of the time he is very misinformed and nobody visits the site anyways except people trying to feed off anti-mormon materal. Now we have a Show, and a very popular one at that, which is now going to cram it down everyone's throat who watches it. it is broadcast on public television. Even the PBS documentary of the LDS church had the decency to not portray sacred LDS ceremonies on public television. This is a line that should never have been crossed. Sacred clothing is being mocked and trifled with in TV GUIDE MAGAZINE. anyone in the store can pick up a copy, don't even have to pay for it, flip to the page and see our most sacred traditions being put out there for the whole world to examine and mock. Heck, anyone with a cable subscription generally gets a copy in the mail.
  20. I Can't even imagine what that would be like. my heart does go out to all those who had thier agency stipped from them because of the act of this man
  21. It also says it will be portraying the Celestial room. I can only imagine how they will portray the ceremonies leading up to that point.
  22. I also have been attracted very much to asian women my whole life. However, i was also attracted to any girl of almost any ethnicity (except for African American, and i know it's irrational, it's not something i can control). I think i know why. It was because iw as searching for my wife. She is from the Philippines, but she left when she was 4 and her family moved to the states. She is so much american that she knows english better than i do (becaus ei am a redneck) and she makes fun of me for it. I think that everyone has thier own dislikes and likes the same with any matter of opinion. I do not like Indian food, but i love mexican. I do not like Thai food, but i love Italian. There is nothing wrong with having prefrences. However, if you let it interfere with finding a compatable mate and fulfilling the purpose of your creation, you need to rethink your position and possibly find help in overcoming your bias.
  23. There have been a few studies that show that a person's IQ will only change aproximately 5 points (depending on the scale) during the course of your life. IQ is not a measure of knowlege, but instead it is the ability to rationalize and recognize patterns. IQ doesn't mean a whole lot in terms of what a person can learn, but instead how long it may take for them to learn it.
  24. I'm very sure that God has a sense of humor, else why did he create midgets, belly buttons, and the platypus?
  25. You can be wealthy but you don't in any way need to flaunt it. There should be no reason why i should be able to look at someone and tell if they are rich or not. I;m not angry that people are rich or anything, seriously. I couldn't care less, it just bugs me whent hey start lookign down on other people because of thier weath and hautiness.
