When Will It Be Okay To Stop Obeying The Lord?
Ray replied to StrawberryFields's topic in LDS Gospel Discussion
Heh, I know that feeling. Some rocks just won't budge. And right now even God cannot move them. But maybe someday, if we all just give a little nudge, the rocks will move themselves to be near Him. :) -
I believe what you just said, and what you're about to say, is simply your opinion. I'll elaborate... I, personally, believe God will give us that... although we may have to wait until after our resurrection. I, personally, believe God will give us that... although we may have to wait until after our resurrection. I, personally, believe God will give us that... and that he's already given those things to some others. And I believe it is ALWAYS a matter of faith to know what God will and won't do. That is what I've come down to too. That leads to another thread though. May if I have time we can explore that issue. Thanks for your input Ray. :) Dr. T I thought this thread was asking what God will do for us if we ask God to do some thing(s) for us, and if we ask God to help us both know and do his will, I, personally believe God will help us.

Heh, good thought. I'm going to try to remember this from now on. :)

This is a very good thread... I think... and I like many thoughts already expressed. To add to this discussion, I'll add a simple question: What would God NOT do for us? I think most of us are familiar with a verse in the Bible saying: "For God so loved the world... " So what would God NOT do for us in this world? Is there anything God would not do? If we asked God for something while EXPECTING God to do it, would God NOT do that for us? I, personally, think it's better for me to just ask God if God will help me do His will. I take total responsibiiity for the things that I do and the things I ask others to do for me. If I ask God to do something and God does it for me, what God does will then be my own doing. And btw, Yes, I would still give the credit to the person(s) who I knew had done some thing(s) for me.

You are offering one point per word??? You might think I have nescience for what you are offering, but I think it’s an exiguous offering, or maybe it just seems improvident to me. I’ll give you 1000 points to say “Thank you”. :)

Aog Look At Cojclds - Revisit Of Question #3
Ray replied to prisonchaplain's topic in LDS Gospel Discussion
I don't know what Traveler's response is going to be, and I don't know how he learned that, but if YOU want to know how you can know that you can start by searching the scriptures.... and you can do that by clicking on this ... and asking God to assure you of the truth, including asking how you should interpret the scriptures. -
Heh, yeah, I can do that... I can share what I think... I have no problem letting you see.But I've missed some posts too... some posts I have written... some posts that are out and about. I know that I wrote them... and pushed that little button... but you still are not hearing from me. I feel like a prisoner who doesn't get out much... someone some do not want to let out. Maybe next time you visit you could give me a stamp. Or maybe even slip me the key. If I don't get out soon... I'm going to do something... maybe dig my way out or just SHOUT!!!

Can God lie? Josh B) Perhaps you misunderstood, or misinterpreted me. You're quoting my comment for some reason.Claim #3 asked: and I said: False (There are some things even God cannot do) And my answer to your question is: No, God cannot. (There are some things even God cannot do) Are we there yet?

And where is it not "translated correctly"? Josh B) It's not "where" Josh, it's "how", or at least that is what I believe.Or in other words, the Bible is the "word of God" as long it's interpreted correctly. Do you know what I mean when I say "word of God"??? Are you interpreting me correctly? -
Zero hits. Zero bullets. I got the TPM award… whatever that is. Out of 336,751 people who took the test, I ranked in the top 7.68% And btw, if you’re interested, I’ll show you my answers and my thoughts: 1. True (I know God does truly exists) 2. False (Man can also determine what is moral) 3. False (There are some things even God cannot do) 4. False (Nope. Doesn’t have to. That’s just the way God is) 5. False (There are some things even God cannot do) 6. True (all things can evolve to be better… until they’re the best there is) 7. False (all things are not just just because someone may think so) 8. False (Nope. Doesn’t have to. That’s just the way God is) 9. True (Man can also determine what is moral) 10. True (yes it is rational, but it may not be true. Rationality doesn’t prove anything) 11. False (Nope. They don’t need to. Sometimes it is unavoidable, though) 12. False (There are some things even God cannot do) 13. False (Nope. Not foolish. It makes sense to believe in God.) 14. False (it’s a matter of faith AND rationality. They are not mutually exclusive) 15. False (Nope. It was wrong. Both God and all men should know that) 16. False (There are some things even God cannot do) 17. False (having a firm, inner conviction that something is true doesn’t make something true or not true)

Are the days long gone when we al could just say that we're all just worshipping God??? Like: "I worship the true God" "Oh really!!!, so do I!!! I missed last week. What happened. What'd I miss?"

Aog Look At Cojclds - Revisit Of Question #3
Ray replied to prisonchaplain's topic in LDS Gospel Discussion
Tommy, I'm clear on that part, okay? I totally understand and accept as fact that: There are 3 who are God... and I'm referring to our Fahter in heaven, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Ghost and God is one... or those 3 are one. Okay. What you haven't explained yet and what I am TRYING to explain is: HOW they are one and what God is ... which is more than you seem to be offering, based on the fact that you are NOT saying: HOW God is one or WHAT God is And from what you are saying, it seems, you are saying that you really don't know. That's part of what you seem to be talking about when you say something like: "God is incomprehensible" You don't know, and you claim to not know. If that's wrong, then please explain what you know. I asked you before, but you seem to have missed it:Where does the Bible say God is one essential being??? As far as I know, and I have read the Bible, those words are NOT in the Bible. That is your interpretation of what you think the Bible is teaching... but those words are NOT in the Bible. Can't you teach what you know without adding to the Bible? I'm not asking for your interpretations. I am not adding to the Bible, Tommy. What I'm saying is what's written in the Bible. I'm saying God is one and these 3 are one... our Father, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Ghost. Do you know HOW those 3 are one? Do you know WHAT God is, and will be? If so, then say so, and quote from the Bible. I'm not asking for your interpretation. Let's cut all the crap and get totally serious. I'm willing. Are you? What does God say? -

Please explain what you think the "atonement" really is?I believe, through Jesus Christ, we can become "at one" with God. Please expand on that thought and share what you think. Are there any ways we can never be "one"? How will we be if we do become "one"... will we then become as God now is? If not, please explain, and please quote from scriptures, without adding any of your own thoughts. -
Aog Look At Cojclds - Revisit Of Question #3
Ray replied to prisonchaplain's topic in LDS Gospel Discussion
Okay, again, I'm not trying to argue with you, I'm just trying to share how I feel. When I "grew up a Church of Christ's preacher's kid", I really didn't know what the ‘Church of Christ’ taught to be that church's concept of God. I heard about God... the Father, Son and Holy Spirit... and I also heard the concept THAT God is "one", but I wasn't really taught about HOW God is one, or what their concept of “God” really was.... it wasn't taught in that church.... the church I grew up in... the church my Dad was a “preacher” in... the church my Granddad was also a “preacher” in … and the church my Dad is a “preacher” in now… not knowing what “God” really is. It wasn't until I heard from a member of this church that I started to think about those issues, and when I asked what my Dad thought, and what other members of that church thought, I really didn't know what they meant. So I did what the member of this church said I should do, I asked God to help me know more about Him, and well… I think you know what happened to me then. I am now an active member of this church. I think what Traveler was trying to say, and what I’m still trying to say, is that we STILL don’t know what you really think. And you don’t seem to know either. You just seem to keep saying you think God is "incomprehensible" as you keep trying to share those same thoughts. And what we're try to tell you is that we do know HOW and we do know what “God” really is... as we try to tell you that you can know all this too, if you ask God to help teach you even more. And btw, you may not like this, and you may not agree with me, but this situation reminds me of a particular scripture. And if you promise to not get angry, or think that I’m being offensive, you may know what I think by clicking this And I think all the scriptures that surround those two verses may also be helpful to you too... ... but then again, they may not... ... Ponder verse 21 and the references in verse 24, if you decide that you want to find out. :) -

Ditto to what Traveler is saying... and it's what I meant in the first place, in other words. I still am not sure what Tommy thinks about God and from the sound of things he isn't either. And btw, I also agree with every word from Traveler in that post... or with the thoughts he expressed in his words. -

Ray, you can't have it both ways. You cut my words too short, Maureen. In your first quote of what I was saying I was saying that I'm still not sure what Tommy thinks about God, and in your second quote of what I was saying I was saying that I know Tommy thinks that God cannot be comprehended. In other words, I'm still not really sure what Tommy thinks about God even though I know Tommy thinks God cannot be comprehended, so I still don't really know if Tommy agrees with me, and other LDS, or if Tommy has some other idea about who or what God is. Yes, I can see that, Maureen. But don't worry, I always cut you some slack. And whether or not it's good to be "anal retentive" I'll let you and others decide for yourselves. :) -

Ray replied to prisonchaplain's topic in LDS Gospel Discussion
I know what you think, Tommy... you don't think God is comprehensible. At least not based on your interpretation of the Bible. I disagree with you, of course. You know that I do. But I do not want to argue with you. You can think what you want... you can beleive what you want. I think God has taught me what I believe. And I also believe God has taught not only me... but God has revealed Himself to other people... ... even though we are not mentioned in the Bible. I do not believe God only speaks through the Bible. I believe other people can speak for God too. I believe God still speaks through prophets today... people who are not even mentioned in the Bible. And btw... ... I believe you're trying to add some thoughts to the Bible. Or maybe you can tell me where the Bible actually says: God is "one essential being, co-equal and co-eternal". I know you can interpret some thoughts that way, but aren't you saying those words are in the Bible? I think God has taught some other people other thoughts... are you trying to tell me that God hasn't? Can you prove what you think exclusively from the Bible... without adding your own thoughts to those words? What makes your interpretation any better than ours? What makes you think that you know God better? How about this? Let's just worship who and how we really want to. I don't have a problem with that. :) -
Fairwiki also has some good information on the Adam-God issue, which you can see by clicking on this, and while I agree with some of what are called “Apologetic approaches”, you can think how and what you want to think. :)

Personally, I'm still not sure what you think about God, and from the sound of that you aren't sure either. But I think it is clear that's an AoG thought.. the "incomprehensible" kinda gives that away. :) -
I just want to say that I personally love both posts above, I hope you won't think that is odd, I think it is beautiful to share the gospel with love, May we all keep learning from God. :)
