I just got back with the kids. It was amazing. And we got lucky too. Drove up to old faithful, it went off two minutes later, and then we were on the road again. It was sweet!!! I love nature. Especially when it is so convenient! Quote
MorningStar Posted July 14, 2008 Report Posted July 14, 2008 I got to see it in person once. Pretty cool! They said it was getting less predictable than it used to be. I also saw this guy almost get gored by a buffalo that day after ignoring warnings. It took a ranger yelling at him to stop him from making a huge mistake. Quote

MorningStar Posted July 14, 2008 Report Posted July 14, 2008 Well, as we were entering the park, every car was handed a flyer about how we weren't supposed to approach the buffalo, how they gore people, etc., and when one of them was on the walkway, this guy just kept walking towards it while everyone else was waiting for it to get off. It was like he was thinking it was on human territory, so he had the right to walk towards it. They look so calm, but that can change very quickly. Quote

Iggy Posted July 14, 2008 Report Posted July 14, 2008 When driving through Custer State Park in South Dakota, We saw a woman with two teenage boys getting out of their VW Bug, walk through the meadow to a Buffalo Cow and her calf. The Cow and calf were laying on the grass. The teenagers were encouraged by Mom to kick the calf to get it to stand so she could take their pictures hugging the calf. Buffalo Mom, got up and charged the teenagers, then turned on Mom. The three incredibly stupid humans ran to their car and stood behind it. Buffalo Mom hit the car and 'walked' if off the road, through the parking area and then proceeded to push it through the stone retaining wall in the parking area. We drove up to the Mom and teenagers, told them to get in the car quick and we drove them to the rangers office. Mom and teenagers were so angry that Buffalo Mom did that- how rude could one animal get?! The car was dust! They were so dang lucky Buffalo Mom vented her anger on the car and not on one of them. We didn't stick around to see what the Ranger said or did with them. Quote
