I want alll of you to know how much I apreciate prisonchaplain fore starting this thread. Alll afternoon at work, I had it on my mind, and alll the correspondence I typed contained misteaks, and alll of it had to be printed twice. It is amzaing to me that such a subtle suggestion could effect one's psyche so profoundly and produce alll these results, for he did not say "Alll of you go forth and see how many words you can spell the wrong way today." He merely unintentionally (I think) planted the idea. And just look at alll of the unintentionall errors that have appeared in the posts of this thread.

And so, I am planting the idea that the word alll is spelled correctly, and if we alll consistently spell it that way in the future, it will inevitably appear in the next revision of Merriam-Webster's Dictionary.

Thank you again, prisonchaplain.

I fancy myself a good writer, and generously excuse my occasional mis-keys as "poetic license." This, in spite of one of my professors who dryly declared, "Typos are a sin!" In one class this same beloved professor darkly proclaimed, "I can accept seeing a single error on a given page. A second fumble, I'll tolerate. However, I consider three or more errors to be a personal insult to me!"

That professor was my favorite. His humor was dry, his standards high. I learned much. . . . Or, did I? Of late, I've noticed my posts are pock-marked with mispellings, typos and grammatical gymnastics of Olympic proportions.

So...I extend my gratitude to all of you who have endured my clumsy ramblings without narry a word about my many "sins" and "insults." My God grant to you the same mercy you've extended to me, unworthy though I am.

WHAT DUH? PR, you are perfect to me. So what others may feel, tell them to "lump it" and move on.

If not, we can remind them of the following few:

Enoch and Moses had speech impairment and he was still a prophet.

Joseph Smith had no real education but had to teach himself to read and write. Still, with his own imperfection, a clerk wrote his talks, thoughts, and so forth.

Abraham had doubts and other weaknesses he had to conquer in his life.

Noah, drank....:D

Hey, Wing...I get so tired of the over use of slang by the younger generations, and as someone stated earlier, there are children growing up that have no idea of the proper use or spelling of many many words.

The children in my family know better than to reply "yeah" to me;:D their affirmative reply had better have the "snake sound" at the end.

AND all "my" kids know the difference between "can I" and "may I"...;)

So they answered "yeahssssssss"? hmmmmm

What is that j doing in there! I cojnfess I didn't plan for it to be there!

LOL. Kieth that is too funny!

At least it's not two funny!

Gotta learn to slow down.... I type about 70 wpm with errors in there! LOL. It's only about 50 wpm when I slow down to avoid/correct typos!

And I join the vote for spelling errors in the thread title to be fixed. I've been watching one, and itched to fix it!

If I could do it without an extra J getting in there that is....

If you watch KSL-TV news, on the weekends the things typed on the screen as part of the story tags are awful. Misspellings, incorrect usage, etc.

I was going to mention KSL earlier. If you go to their website, that's where you find the spelling errors. It's horrible.

Okay this one isn't about spelling it's what people say. I have twins so it infuriates me when people say..."So you have two twins?" Well duhhhhhhh...twins would be two.

:lol: When I say "affirmative reply" they know there is only one acceptable answer...and no, it is not yeahssssssssss!!! :D

Maureen:

Does that mean you were never a fan of the Beatles' song I love you yeah yeah yeah? :)

Hated it everytime I heard it. And I hate "You've got mail" It should be "You have mail"!!!!!!!!!!! Really, how silly is 'you have got mail'?

One that really bugs me (other than homonyms) is the misuse of the word "yeah." "Yeah" is the slang form of "yes." It is not a cheer. If you want to cheer, please use "yay!"

She loves me, yay yay yay!:P

i was so glad to see this thread. and i bet you are going to guess why really really fast!

i have a feeling i am going to drive you all nuts on here so i want to apologize right off the bat.

i try to spell but my fingers have their own ideas on how that should be done and i dont always catch it. they are phonetic fingers and i am dictionary minded. we have big debates a lot on that topic.

a while back i made a big decision in my online life. i am not much of a typist and i have fingers that hurt. sooooo i have made a compromise. i will try to catch typos but will not attempt to do routine capitalization and 's unless the meaning becomes unclear.

please understand and forgive me?
