BenRaines Posted December 14, 2008 Report Posted December 14, 2008 I would not want to be that guy and be taken outside by Iraqi security forces. I am not sure they have really good due process laws in place yet. Ben Raines Quote

Moksha Posted December 14, 2008 Report Posted December 14, 2008 I was surprised to learn that in Iraq, throwing your shoes at someone would have been seen as the supreme insult. Likewise in Ireland it would be smashing someone in the head with a shillelagh, or in Germany laying on ones back with your buttocks facing the insultee and igniting their bratwurst induced flatulence. What insults. Too bad Ozzy Osbourne was not at President Bush's side. He could have picked up the hurled shoes and ate them, thus making the errant Iraqi implode. Quote

Do you think Ozzy would have ate the shoes.....thats pretty mellow compared to some of the stuff he ate in the past... Quote
amjackson1975 Posted December 14, 2008 Report Posted December 14, 2008 My husband I'Md me a while ago about this -because Bush came into where My husband works/ is based. He told me the story of the Female Reporter and her Shoes! It gave the guys something to chuckle about because they couldn't go off shift until Bush did his rounds!! Quote
lilered Posted December 14, 2008 Report Posted December 14, 2008 Geez, here I thought your thread was about Bush not wanting to meet a great Indian Chief named Two Shoes. Quote
Tough Grits Posted December 15, 2008 Report Posted December 15, 2008 I'll say this about the little Texan, he has good reflexes!!! It was reported that a female reporter got a black eye during the scuffle/confusion after the shoe incident due to a microphone being thrust into her eye. Tough crowd, huh? Quote
Honor Posted December 15, 2008 Report Posted December 15, 2008 Sounds like GWB hired Jerry Springer to host his final days in office. I can only imagine what's in the works for the days to come! Quote
RachelleDrew Posted December 15, 2008 Report Posted December 15, 2008 I was surprised to learn that in Iraq, throwing your shoes at someone would have been seen as the supreme insult. In certain parts of Iraq, people don't even pick their feet up all the way from the ground to avoid showing the bottom of their shoes/feet. It's considered disrespectful in the more traditional Iraqi areas. So getting smacked in the face with the bottom of a shoe would have been the pwn of a lifetime. Good gravy, dubya was a lot quicker than his bodyguards were. It seriously took them like an hour just to get up to his podium and that's after he practically Matrixed two shoes. What if the object thrown was a knife, not a pair of shoes? For those of you to lazy to read, here's the youtube vid.YouTube - President George Bush Shoe Toss Thrown by Iraq Journalist LolzIf you slow it down enough, you can see Bush grinning as the first shoe is coming towards him. Even HE thought it was funny. Quote
Palerider Posted December 15, 2008 Report Posted December 15, 2008 I can't believe Elphaba did not see this.......:) Quote
miztrniceguy Posted December 15, 2008 Report Posted December 15, 2008 i consider throwing shoes at someone in America a sign of disrespect. Quote

Guest ceeboo Posted December 16, 2008 Report Posted December 16, 2008 I think he was fit to be tied. Or perhaps, running out of options.I'm not sure how he even got in the press conference, he was probably one of those sneakers that got in. I guess I shouldn't step all over him until I walk a mile in his shoes.Just seemed really stinky to me. Quote
