Stidgeion Posted November 11, 2009 Report Posted November 11, 2009 Quick question ...did Adam have a belly button... thoughts ... any one? Quote
deseretgov Posted November 11, 2009 Report Posted November 11, 2009 I don't know. Maybe not. Of course they could be part of the pattern of a human body. Also it's possible perfect bodies don't have belly buttons. Quote
Maxel Posted November 11, 2009 Report Posted November 11, 2009 I asked a knowledgeable source this question. I wanted to be sure, so I asked it 10 times. Of thoe 10 times, I received 8 "Yes" answers, one "No" answer and one "Try again later".After this extensive research, I'd have to say that "All signs point to yes". Quote
Guest Posted November 12, 2009 Report Posted November 12, 2009 You must have been going through the clean humor thread... And I don't think Adam has a belly button. He was never a baby, I don't think. So he must have been created as an adult without the need for an umbilical cord for sustenance. Quote

Justice Posted November 12, 2009 Report Posted November 12, 2009 Quick question ...did Adam have a belly button... thoughts ... any one?Has there been a man without one?I believe he did. Quote
Guest xforeverxmetalx Posted November 12, 2009 Report Posted November 12, 2009 I think he did... maybe he didn't need one, but that doesn't mean he can't have been given one. Quote
Moksha Posted November 12, 2009 Report Posted November 12, 2009 This question seems like a satire on literalizing the Creation Story, Quote
jadams_4040 Posted November 12, 2009 Report Posted November 12, 2009 Quick question ...did Adam have a belly button... thoughts ... any one? Well he is the father of mortal man; and to be able to have offspring; his offspring would have to receive his genetic makeup, and that includes umbilical cord.:) Quote
Seminarysnoozer Posted November 12, 2009 Report Posted November 12, 2009 Which body? the one God created or the fallen body? ... The original, probably not, as perfect bodies have to be created not begotten, the fallen body probably as the changes reflect the genetic make up of a form that can procreate itself. Quote

havejoy Posted November 12, 2009 Report Posted November 12, 2009 The belly button is a scar. There is no reason Adam and Eve would have one. Quote
havejoy Posted November 12, 2009 Report Posted November 12, 2009 BTW, do you know that if you unbutton your belly button your butt will fall off. Trust me. It's true. Quote
Justice Posted November 12, 2009 Report Posted November 12, 2009 The belly button is a scar. There is no reason Adam and Eve would have one.It is not technically a scar. If it was "just" a scar, it would completely heal, since we have it from birth. Also, there would be no reason for him to have it if he wasn't born of a mother. I see no reason to believe he wasn't. In fact, every man ever born into this world was born of a mother, even the Son of God. I see no reason to think Adam wasn't born of a mother... just not a mother with a mortal body. Quote

If you think Adam was possibly born of an immortal mother, why was Eve's creation described the way it was? Quote

Snow Posted November 12, 2009 Report Posted November 12, 2009 Quick question ...did Adam have a belly button... thoughts ... any one?Modern man, homo sapiens, had been born, lived and died for 250 thousand years before Adam - each one of them with a belly button. You think that all the sudden Adam was born without one? Quote
Snow Posted November 12, 2009 Report Posted November 12, 2009 Which body? the one God created or the fallen body? ... The original, probably not, as perfect bodies have to be created not begotten, the fallen body probably as the changes reflect the genetic make up of a form that can procreate itself. Now you've really piqued my interest.1. In what way are begotten bodies NOT created?2. Do you have even a sliver of a scintilla of a smidgen of verifiable evidence to support your hypothesis? Quote

If you think Adam was possibly born of an immortal mother, why was Eve's creation described the way it was?Good question.I do have an answer (an opinion), but I know better than giving it on an open forum. I'll keep my beliefs about stuff like this to myself from now on, but it is in the creation story. :) Quote
Justice Posted November 12, 2009 Report Posted November 12, 2009 Justice, is your belly button not completely healed yet? That depends on your definition of healed.I had serious cuts when I was very small. I had scars for quite a while... but they are now gone. My belly button, although it's not an open wound, is still very much visible. Quote
Stidgeion Posted November 12, 2009 Author Report Posted November 12, 2009 you all make interesting points...... and not that it matters .. "if" Adam did have a bellybutton......was it an iny or an outy....for my own reasons im betting it was an outy ........more to come .. ;-) Quote
Guest xforeverxmetalx Posted November 12, 2009 Report Posted November 12, 2009 on a related note... does God have a belly button? because I'd guess if He does, and we're created after His image, Adam probably had one too Quote
