Guest mormonmusic Posted December 21, 2009 Report Posted December 21, 2009 Can you name any conference talks that have become "famous" or oft quoted for years and years to come? I have two that come to mind: a) Bruce R. McConkie's Last Talk (not even sure what it's real name was) b) Elder Bednar "Thou Shalt Not Be Offended" Can you think of any others? Quote
pam Posted December 21, 2009 Report Posted December 21, 2009 I don't know if it's famous but I believe it was one of the last if not the last that President Faust gave called "Forgiveness the Greatest Gift" It was the talk where he talked about the Amish people and their ability to so easily forgive after some of their children were killed in the schoolhouse. I think that talk had a tremendous impact on so many. Quote
beefche Posted December 21, 2009 Report Posted December 21, 2009 The Parable of the Pickle! Also, President Benson's talk on pride and the BoM. Quote
Just_A_Guy Posted December 21, 2009 Report Posted December 21, 2009 (edited) Elder Wirthlin's talk - the one about Christlike love, where his knees almost went out from under him and Elder Nelson braced him for the rest of it. Agree or disagree with it, but Elder Nelson's talk about unconditional love has to be one of the most notorious talks of recent memory. Edited December 21, 2009 by Just_A_Guy Quote

Vort Posted December 21, 2009 Report Posted December 21, 2009 Agree or disagree with it, but Elder Nelson's talk about unconditional love has to be one of the most notorious talks of recent memory. There is nothing notorious about it. And it wasn't a General Conference talk. Quote
Just_A_Guy Posted December 22, 2009 Report Posted December 22, 2009 There is nothing notorious about it.I was thinking of the sense of being "generally known and talked of", but not necessarily in a disfavorable sense. And it wasn't a General Conference talk.By jove, you are right! Mea culpa. Quote
