Traveler Posted May 5, 2010 Report Posted May 5, 2010 I know that there are a bunch of History Channel fans out there. Is anyone besides me watchinh the "ancient alliens" programs? Not everything on TV is creditable. As a side note - when I was working for the defense department on the cruise missile I ran across a document that indicated in the history of the USA and experiments with unmanned flight experiments that over 3,000 experimental craft had been lost and never found. We lost more than one cruise missile that was never found during our testing. I have many stories that I could tell. As to area 51 – I was never there but I am sure that the powers that be are delighted (and perhaps somewhat responsible) that everyone thinks the cover-up concerns extra-terrestrials. dorave Posted May 5, 2010 Report Posted May 5, 2010 Bewary of the History Channel, for sometime now many of its shows have tried to make God, Christianty and religion very secular. Quote

Hemidakota Posted May 5, 2010 Report Posted May 5, 2010 Did it mention anything about Kolob?Where is the other 14-planets that stands with Kolob? Quote

Blackmarch Posted May 5, 2010 Report Posted May 5, 2010 I know that there are a bunch of History Channel fans out there. Is anyone besides me watchinh the "ancient alliens" programs?Sometimes they're fun.... Usually either Egyptians, the Nazca indians, easter island, or events in ezekiel from the bible are the usual subjects. Altho my favorite show on the unexplained was probably unsolved mysteries.as much as I'd love to be able to watch the discovery channel, the history channel, and a couple of others... I don't have TV. john doe Posted May 5, 2010 Report Posted May 5, 2010 I love the History Channel, but sometimes they put programs on just as filler. I think Ancient Aliens would qualify for that. The Life After Humans series would also be in that category. Quote

HiJolly Posted May 5, 2010 Report Posted May 5, 2010 Question for y'all: Do you think a History Channel program on symbols and symbolism, their meaning and useage (a la Dan Brown's "the DaVinci Code") would be interesting to you? HiJolly Quote

HiJolly I watched the Da Vinci Code one, it was informative. I also saw the one about Masonic traditions. The thing you need to remember when watching these things is that the producers of the shows sometimes go in directions that are not entirely accurate, and sometimes follow a certain person's agenda. rameumptom Posted May 5, 2010 Report Posted May 5, 2010 I suppose one could consider God an "extra-terrestrial." But for the 5 minutes of the program I watched, I kinda gagged. The things I saw all had other explanations that were totally ignored by the presenters of the program. No, Ma'am, this ain't history. This is taking a lot of square data, and then hammering it into a round hole.... Quote
Matthew0059 Posted May 5, 2010 Report Posted May 5, 2010 I know that there are a bunch of History Channel fans out there. Is anyone besides me watchinh the "ancient alliens" programs?I saw a segment where two scientists were describing how they had constructed a nuclear powered "manna-machine" from a description of (I think?) GOD from the book of Exodus. It supposedly created an algae substance that was the actual manna from Heaven.A bunch of kooks trying to take GOD out of history, IMO. I think Rameumpton is right with his square-peg-round-hole analogy. Quote
dazed-and-confused Posted May 6, 2010 Author Report Posted May 6, 2010 lol...i saw that one too. i thought it was rediculous. i know that there is a lot of nonsense being given. i have to admit, though, that i am fascinated by some smaller things. this is not the first time i've seen the tiny golden objects found in the jungle that seem tp replicate a modern fighter. fact is, when you have an adjenda and are going through data, chances are you will find what you're looking for. this has been conceded by some on the shows. one show that is just totally rediculous is UFO hunters....get real. HiJollythings like that are always interesting... but as for how much value in actual education it has can vary... usually things like that are somehere between being being food and being candy, and it's usually closer to the candy side. dazed-and-confused Posted May 7, 2010 Author Report Posted May 7, 2010 I know that so much of what is being said on this series is a lot of nonsense, but there is also some relevant archeaological fact stated as well. Overall, i find the series "interesting". Quote
