Mahone Posted June 22, 2011 Report Posted June 22, 2011 BBC News - Who, What, Why: Does a reservoir need emptying if someone urinates in it? Quote
lizzy16 Posted June 23, 2011 Report Posted June 23, 2011 Stupid. Waste of time and resources and money. I don't mind drinking pee water. Seriously it would be like 1/8 of a cup in thousands of gallons of water. Quote
Dravin Posted June 23, 2011 Report Posted June 23, 2011 The picture from the article has a man fishing, what do you think the fish do? Leave the reservoir for the nearest outhouse? If a reservoir is that sensitive to contaminates it shouldn't be open. Quote

Mahone Posted June 23, 2011 Author Report Posted June 23, 2011 Now every time I go to the restroom I'm going to get all hungry. And if you're not peckish, you can show your inner charity by, instead of flushing, leaving it in the bowl for the next person to feast on. Extra helpings :) Quote

Gwen Posted June 23, 2011 Report Posted June 23, 2011 For the record my thoughts when the second article came to mind after reading the first was the contrast between the two cultures. One is freaking out over a miniscule amount of urine in an exposed body of water that apparently has fish living in it while the other is ..... going where no one has gone before to solve the what to do with your waste conundrum. Sometimes I wonder if we are living in the twilight zone. Quote
pam Posted June 24, 2011 Report Posted June 24, 2011 Uhh thanks Mahone. That's why we provide links so those that don't want to follow an article have that option. Quote
mordorbund Posted June 24, 2011 Report Posted June 24, 2011 [VOICE=Charleton Heston] Soylent Brown is fecal!!!![/VOICE] Quote
Saintmichaeldefendthem1 Posted June 29, 2011 Report Posted June 29, 2011 It seems the issue was Tokyo lacking space to process sewage and coming up with impractical solutions that cost obscene amounts of money only means that Japan has an eerily similar problem as the United States. Bureaucrats. Quote
sixpacktr Posted June 29, 2011 Report Posted June 29, 2011 Having lived among and working with the Japanese for so long, this just doesn't surprise me. Although, I did find it interesting in the article that he is pointing out certain facets of his machine using a stick with a glove on it, instead of touching it himself....yeah, make mine medium rare, but don't let me touch that crap! And we all laughed when Charles yelled out 'Soylent Green is people!'. I'm just waiting for someone to say they've discovered a way to make other bodily fluids into a milkshake... I'm staying away from McDonalds and BK. You never know.... Quote
