honestabe Posted June 30, 2011 Report Posted June 30, 2011 I was just wondering if anyone else that comes to this forum has the same problem that I am. When reading some of the threads and how people are talking to each other and encouraging things that are not in line with what our church leaders & doctrine teach us. I have a very hard time feeling the spirit when I am on this site. I have prayed about it after but I am not getting any response. I would like to see if anyone else is experiencing the same thing. Thanks for your time & god bless. Quote
pam Posted June 30, 2011 Report Posted June 30, 2011 Sorry you feel that way. Personally, I've learned so much from this site in the 11+ years I've been associated with it. It's a public forum and as such, you will get a variety of responses to a variety of subjects. Not everyone is at the same level of knowledge or spirituality. Since it is a public forum you sometimes have to take some things said with a grain of salt. Quote
Suzie Posted June 30, 2011 Report Posted June 30, 2011 Honestabe, sorry to hear you are feeling this way. Well, I really don't come here to feel the Spirit. This is just an internet forum and I don't treat it like it is Church or the Temple so my expectations are just like any other internet site (whether it is LDS or not makes little difference for me). I would like to point out that just because some people here may tell us they are LDS, Jewish, Atheists or what have you, doesn't necessarily mean it is true. I come here mostly to discuss LDS history or other LDS related topics and also to find out how a couple of my buddies here are doing. Don't sweat the small stuff. :) Quote
applepansy Posted July 1, 2011 Report Posted July 1, 2011 (edited) Yes there are times when the spirit leaves as I'm reading a thread. The reasons are usually related to subject and the tone of the conversation. When it becomes contentious the spirit is not there for me. And that's when I move on to something else. Pam, I have learned a lot too. But I have found that learning isn't always the same as feeling the spirit. As a baptized and confirmed member of the church I have become very sensitive to when the Holy Ghost is with me and when he's not. It doesn't matter where I am (online, church, store), if I'm reading or around something not right I can feel the spirit leave. I'd rather have him with me so I leave too. Guest LiterateParakeet Posted July 1, 2011 Report Posted July 1, 2011 Looks like Honestabe is gone (banned?)...but for the benefit of the mods and regular posters...I just want to say I enjoy it here. I have been on a couple of other LDS sites, and this one is shaping up to be my prefered LDS site. One of the things I love about this site is that even though it is LDS, there are several posters from other faiths/religions as well. I really enjoy "meeting" people from other faiths. Keep up all the great work and great postings. Quote
prophetofdoom Posted July 2, 2011 Report Posted July 2, 2011 If someone is "banned" how are they allowed to post? Quote
PrinceofLight2000 Posted July 2, 2011 Report Posted July 2, 2011 Maybe this was posted before the ban? Quote

prisonchaplain Posted July 2, 2011 Report Posted July 2, 2011 I know the OP probably meant the string as a bit of a jab, but on a serious note, ALL CHRISTIANS should be so desperate to commune with God's Spirit. If I am not feeling the Spirit daily, I'm dying. I ought to be to my knees, or even prostrate, calling out to "our Father who art in heaven." How silly to quip about not feeling the Spirit at a website. The Spirit lives within us! God literally help us, if we must go to a social network (even one as cool and awesome as this) to find the Holy Spirit! Quote
