classylady Posted July 16, 2013 Report Posted July 16, 2013 (edited) This will show my utter lack of experience and techno/computer savvy, but I have no idea how a chat room works. Do you actually chat? Meaning, do you have head phones and a camera, and chat one-on-one with someone? Or is it similar to the forums here where you just type out your correspondence--similar to texting or emails? Obviously, I have never been to a chat room. Is this something I would enjoy? Is it something I can figure out on my own, being I have little technical know-how? Are there any decent chat rooms out there? I'm married, so have no desire to go to a singles site. Edit: I've seen/heard my teens on the computer when they play their computer games. But, that isn't what I envision as a chat room. Maybe, I'm way off on my thinking. When they play their computer games, are they on a chat room site? Edit II: Is it similar to "messaging" on Facebook when both of you are on the computer at the same time? Roseslipper Posted July 16, 2013 Report Posted July 16, 2013 a chat room is were u just chit chat with some one normally u type out what u would voice, but today u can have voice 2 and today u can actually see the person u r talking to each other...if u both have a cam...but becareful there are so many bad chat rooms on line...thats why i like when we had chat here we had good mods...to protect us like pam, ben pale,etc...they kept the hat room clean & safe. Though we did have our share of chartetors...lol.... Quote

Though we did have our share of chartetors...lol.... Unfortunately the chatroom here on lds.net was not clean and safe and that's why we don't have one any longer. Voice and headset isn't a traditional chat room, and is usually called a voice conference, or voice server. One popular way to do chat rooms is called irc. edit: most video games have a chat built into them which is very much just like a chat room, most also now let everybody do a voice conference too. A big chunk of the people who set up sex with minors, do it in chatrooms. Political and religious discussions are the most horrible and the least productive. Ignorance and evil often run amok. You get to talk to people in real time, anonymously, with few or no rules. There are good chatrooms with clean talk and good times. LDS.net used to have one of them - until the mods realized how much dang time it took to police it and keep it that way. Quote

I enjoy chatting with one, maybe two people, but any more than that and I get horribly lost and eventually dropped out due to not understanding anything going on.And frankly, I hated moderating the chat room here. I don't tolerate people doing things against the rules very well and I wasn't very good at the tools to do my job. I do miss chatting with some people. A couple of friends from another forum, pam from this form, and a couple of others from this forum used to chat with me quite a bit. But, I think life got in the way and I haven't chatted with any of them in a long time. I miss that.... but chat threads bring out the, well inappropriate questions in me And that is a great summary of why the chat room on this site got the axe....to the rejoicing of the moderators and lamentations of those who didn't break the chat rules. Most chat rooms are websites with software that allows you to type back and forth in real time. Most chat room software allows emoticons and sounds and colors. We used to use Yahoo IM or Windows IM a lot to chat. Their conference feature let several people in the same "room" talk together. Not all chat rooms attract the "dregs of society" and not all are dirty. Most of the time in the chat room here it was a clean conversation. We had a lot of fun. THANK YOU BROTHER MNM FOR JUDGING ME!!!!!!oops caps were on lol....So what I dont type well, my computer keys dont all work right, some times my fingers dont work right and some times I just cant remember how to spell......and Of course I cant spell well either....Is that a good reason for your comment..???? Why do we judge for all the wrong reasons??? we judge for typing, spelling, if were to tall, to short, to fat to skinny, to pretty not pretty, if were rich or poor,, the color of our skin etc. etc etc. Should I leave this chat or forum cause u dont like my spelling + or typing?Im here only to try to help....like I asume most are and im not in here often..... Arent we suppose to love one another, isnt that the goal? Arnt we suppose to lift each other?? help each other?? when we can..R u better then I? am I better then you??? NO is the answer...were equal... we might just have different talents and gifts but why are we given these gifts??? Isnt it to build the Kingdom of God...?? How do we build the kingdom?? by building ourselfs and helping others isnt that how we build the kingdom. So I dont have the education or smarts some of you have, does that matter??
