Wingnut Posted August 29, 2013 Report Posted August 29, 2013 Is #12 something that really actually needs to be included on a list directed at men? Isn't it kind-of a given? Quote
Guest Posted August 29, 2013 Report Posted August 29, 2013 Good list, even if 12 made me blush. :) Quote
beefche Posted August 29, 2013 Report Posted August 29, 2013 Ok, ya'll got me curious on #12 and now all I can say is, "OH YEAH!" Quote
Bini Posted August 29, 2013 Report Posted August 29, 2013 Wow. #12 was just overkill for me. Super cheese. Quote
Lakumi Posted August 29, 2013 Report Posted August 29, 2013 sounded like a cheesy romance novel minus Fabio Quote
beefche Posted August 29, 2013 Report Posted August 29, 2013 sounded like a cheesy romance novelminus FabioMeh, it's just a great soundbite to make people click on their site more....whatever is said there isn't anything groundshaking...nothing new for anyone with a brain. Quote
Backroads Posted August 29, 2013 Author Report Posted August 29, 2013 I also found #12 a bit overly romantic. Though I do agree with the concept. Just not the passionate phrasing. Quote
Guest Posted August 29, 2013 Report Posted August 29, 2013 I thought it was kind of refreshing in a culture that's constantly trying to emasculate men. Quote
beefche Posted August 29, 2013 Report Posted August 29, 2013 I thought it was kind of refreshing in a culture that's constantly trying to emasculate men.Which I will never understand. I LIKE the manly aspects of my husband (ok, not the can't throw the socks into the hamper parts). Quote
prisonchaplain Posted August 29, 2013 Report Posted August 29, 2013 #21 is "avoid using 'always' and 'never' in conversations--especially disagreements. As an aside--the author used those words a lot. :-) I liked that one was "be silly" and the other was "don't be an idiot." Life and marriage are all about balance, right? Quote
Windseeker Posted August 29, 2013 Report Posted August 29, 2013 Good list, even if 12 made me blush. :) Quote
Bini Posted August 29, 2013 Report Posted August 29, 2013 I thought it was kind of refreshing in a culture that's constantly trying to emasculate men.I don't see the world that way but I do appreciate my husband's manliness and the role he has in our marriage. Like I tell people, I can be a feminist and still shave my legs. Quote
Bini Posted August 29, 2013 Report Posted August 29, 2013 Yeh, again, number 12 was totally barf worthy despite the message. Quote
beefche Posted August 29, 2013 Report Posted August 29, 2013 Ok, call me a Fabio lover (which I'm not--he is not attractive to me), but I thought the wording on #12 was a very romantic description. But, then my love language is words of affirmation and I love, LOVE when my husband describes his feelings for me. And he knows my love of romance, so he has a very natural way of describing things in a romantic manner that makes my heart go pitterpat. What's wrong with the romantic or passionate expression? What's wrong with the romantic or passionate expression?everyone has a different idea what is romantic and/or passionate to them?If I ever talked like that to the last girl I dated she would have laughed like crazy. Granted it sounds like something I would say, for a laugh, but I wouldn't have been taken seriously. To be fair neither of us were ever really romantic Quote
beefche Posted August 29, 2013 Report Posted August 29, 2013 So, I'm curious. How would one reword that (or something similar--maybe no one wants to talk about initmacy, which is fine) that is romantic but not that type of romantic? Quote

How would one reword that (or something similar--maybe no one wants to talk about initmacy, which is fine) that is romantic but not that type of romantic?Speaking for myself, I don't have a problem with intimacy but that particular paragraph was just blegh, it was overdone to the point where the message wasn't received -- instead I was left feeling like.. I was covered in a gooey sticky cheesy mess. Quote

How would one reword that (or something similar--maybe no one wants to talk about initmacy, which is fine) that is romantic but not that type of romantic?I have no issue discussing it, but when I did it, it broke the law of chastity so, perhaps I shant divulge to much Quote

Sadsister Posted August 30, 2013 Report Posted August 30, 2013 I like the list, cheese and all. I think a good reminder of these things is never a bad thing. Quote
