mnn727 Posted January 8, 2014 Report Posted January 8, 2014 Nailed it exactly to where I spent my first 31 years of life - Minneapolis/St Paul area. Quote
Just_A_Guy Posted January 8, 2014 Report Posted January 8, 2014 (edited) SLC, Reno, and Spokane. I've never been to Spokane, and I drive through Reno maybe 10 times per year. I currently work in SL Valley, though. I've always prided myself on my California heritage (Stockton area); but I guess I'm now officially a Utahn. Edited January 8, 2014 by Just_A_Guy Quote
dahlia Posted January 8, 2014 Report Posted January 8, 2014 I did this a few weeks ago. I got Philly, Yonkers and someplace else in the NE. I'm not from any of the places listed, but did spend 10 years in Philly, so I guess it rubbed off. I had one job where I commuted from Philly to NYC (sounds insane, but people do it) and worked with a lot of New Yorkers, some of whom would also come down to the Philly office; maybe that's where the Yonkers thing came from.Hey, Pam - didn't you have this on FB awhile back? Vort Posted January 8, 2014 Report Posted January 8, 2014 Spokane, WA; Rockford, IL; and Grand Rapids, MI. I was born about 150 miles from Spokane and grew up mostly in eastern WA, so that's pretty good shooting for a 25-question quiz -- moreso since some of my pronunciations really aren't standard for where I grew up. mirkwood Posted January 8, 2014 Report Posted January 8, 2014 Mesa AZ. I have spent time there as an adult, but I was raised in Indiana and SLC Utah. Quote
Woodendance Posted January 8, 2014 Report Posted January 8, 2014 Springfield, Albuquerque, and Amarillo are my top. I find if funny since I was born and raised outside of Birmingham,Alabama and lived the past 16 years on the west cost now. Quote
Jamie123 Posted January 8, 2014 Report Posted January 8, 2014 I'm not American at all (though my wife is American) - but according to this I talk most like a Hawaiian, or else someone from Long Island.(In Britain of course we don't have an accent; we just talk normally. ) Quote
EarlJibbs Posted January 8, 2014 Report Posted January 8, 2014 Salt Lake, Fresno and Modesto. I knew the ones that would peg me before the results were in. Potato bug and the fact that I had never heard of a drive through liquor store. Since moving to TX in September I finally saw one, but I still don't know what they are called :) This was fun, thanks for sharing. Quote
Blackmarch Posted January 8, 2014 Report Posted January 8, 2014 (edited) A dialect map quiz.Mine pegged me at salt Lake City, near where I grew up.Turns out pretty accurate altho there were about 3 questions that didn't have a good answer for my case.I Find the results really interesting... My moms side of the family mainly grew up near boise, and my dad's there was a lot of northern Oregon living. I spent the first 8-10 years of my youth being raised real close to ST.George UT (if you don't know where that is that's very close to the darkest area on Utah on map the site gave, and pretty much most the rest of my life in northern Utah...It gave three cities- Spokane Washington, boise Idaho, and salt lake (but the area colored darkest was in the southwest corner of Utah, north Idaho and Oregon/southeast washington XD.not bad Edited January 8, 2014 by Blackmarch Quote
Bini Posted January 9, 2014 Report Posted January 9, 2014 Mine is most similar to Boston, Massachusetts and Augusta, Maine. I would have never guessed that. Quote
