A LOT of people in Houston have backup generators.  A LOT of them.

As soon as we have a decent storage option I'll go solar and/or hydro, even if just for emergencies.  I currently use a whole house propane generator now and love it.  Tesla's PowerWall is promising, but at 20k installed it's not an economical solution.

Guns scare me.  No beans and ammo at the mirkwood home.

I have a camera that can take pictures of people's souls.  Here's what I got when I took Mirk's picture:

So, my food storage right now only has spam, corned beef, vienna sausage, chef oyardee raviolis, canned sweet peas, canned sweet corn, and rice.  We can live on that for a month if we need to.

Oh yeah... and bullets.  :D

I have lots of seeds too.

If you plant some of those bullets in an orchard you'll grow a small infantry.

What really gets me is that some people just get tons of Blue Bell ice cream.  First, I don't really care for Blue Bell (I know other Texans will think that is blasphemy).  Second, how on earth did ice cream get so important that this is the one thing people stock up on during an emergency?

I bet your salsa comes from New York City.

I'll have you know that Pace Picante sauce is made by folks in San Antonio... Actually, it's in Paris, TX.  But it ain't NYC.
