Anddenex Posted September 7, 2017 Report Posted September 7, 2017 (edited) How often might we say something that we think is innocent, but is so filled with arrogance. I read the following article's comments (https://mormonhub.com/blog/faith/mormons-chill/) and came across these two: "I have been found to quote this subject many a time! "Just calm down, will ya?" It seems I am always the one in a ward council to inject some common sense." (emphasis added) -- Right, no one else ever provides any common sense, not even the bishop. Oh my if not for this individual who knows where this ward would be without the common sense this individual provides. And the reply is just as good, "I, too, have been in that position in ward council many times!" (that position being "I am always the one...to inject some common sense) Well, this Sunday I look forward to being the only one to inject some common sense in our Stake PEC. zil Posted September 7, 2017 Report Posted September 7, 2017 As long as you keep your tongue tucked firmly in your cheek, no one will understand a word you say anyway, so it's all good (or bad, depending on how you want to look at it). Anddenex and SilentOne 2 Quote
Guest Posted September 7, 2017 Report Posted September 7, 2017 Here's another comment: Quote An I the only one smelling the hypocrisy here? "Stop judging the little things so much?" Yet here is David Snell, judging and preaching to a group that consists of millions, of what they are and aren't doing right. When in reality he has met, at most, a small percentage of them and could not possibly know where they need improvement. When was David Snell made prophet? Telling the church how to conduct itself? To ignore church history? Ok. He may have a point. Quote

What I do not understand is why anyone would call something “COMMON” sense and then go on as if it is not so common after all? The Traveler Anddenex 1 Quote
prisonchaplain Posted September 7, 2017 Report Posted September 7, 2017 @Traveler No ye not just how cool irony is? "Isn't it amazing that I am the only one with common sense!" Ultimately, it's silly and often sinful. BUT, hey, the one proclaiming his/her uncommon common sense feels good about it, so it's all wonderful, right? Gotta love postmodernism! Vort 1 Quote

As I can't tell if this is sarcasm or a serious question, I am answering as though it is a serious question. The tongue in cheek comment was mine at the end of the post, "Well, this Sunday I look forward to being the only one to inject some common sense in our Stake PEC." (highlighted with the banana devil emoticon) The previous comments weren't tongue in cheek comments. They were meaningful comments and I was pointing out how silly these were, thus my tongue in cheek at the end. If tongue in cheek/sarcastic comments weren't allowed in the Church, there would be a lot of people resigning -- including myself. Quote

I am so sarcastic and my sense of humor is so dry that I have long since lost the ability to tell if I'm being sarcastic or not. So your guess is as good as mine. Quote
JohnsonJones Posted September 8, 2017 Report Posted September 8, 2017 I'd never resign, they'd have to kick me out. Quote
Vort Posted September 8, 2017 Report Posted September 8, 2017 I'm beginning to like David Snell (though I'm sure the sentiment is not mutual). The Folk Prophet 1 Quote

I think the article is unfortunately titled (though maybe that was the point). When I first saw it I thought, "Another one!" (Meaning another passive-aggressive attack on some aspect of the church by an article on mormonhub). But then I read it and thought it was nothing of the sort and I agreed with it. I have yet to decide if the title alone is enough to be bothersome. Quote
