Sunday21 Posted September 2, 2018 Report Posted September 2, 2018 (edited) If you know anyone who might like to immigrate, here is the link for Manitoba. Winnipeg the largest city has dangerous neighbourhoods, by Canadian standards, but if you avoid these areas there is no problem. I may retire to Winnipeg. There are many inexpensive activities for all ages and a zoo. There will soon be a temple. Some smaller cities are virtually crime free. Healthcare is free and schools are good. https://www.immigratemanitoba.com/ I can personally testify to the warm and kindness of people in Manitoba. The saints in Brandon will welcome anyone with unending love and kindness. If you feel this is appropriate, would you mind sending this on to your bishop or perhaps the employment specialist in your ward? https://ca.indeed.com/m/jobs?q=Maple+Leaf+Foods&l=Manitoba Info on Brandon Ward Sun 10:00 am Bishop Smith 1 204-727-2220 Google exploratory visit Manitoba and don’t admit to family or friend in Canada but outside of Man Edited September 2, 2018 by Sunday21 anatess2 and lostinwater 2 Quote

seashmore Posted September 6, 2018 Report Posted September 6, 2018 (edited) True story: I went to Winnipeg for Spring Break my senior year of college. It was the last time I drank alcohol. We were on trimesters, so our "spring break" was the last week in February. I had a couple of friends who wanted to leave the country before they graduated, as a bucket list type thing, and Canada was closer than Mexico. We stopped at the Mall of America on our way. Our highlights of Canada included stopping for me to take a pic at a curling rink and an LDS chapel that I had seen from the highway, and Spring Break Blizzard Pictures at the Border. (Right now, only the chapel pic is loading. But the other ones exist, I promise.) Edited September 6, 2018 by seashmore Sunday21 1 Quote

All you need to do is get in the car and step on the gas. I am trying to enticed nonCanucks to come on up and join us. However, I can promise you that if you were to move to any ward outside of Winnipeg, that they would be so pleased to see you, you would not believe it...although I am sure that Winnipeg would also be happy to have you. Well I imagine that drugs are rampant in non lds circles now that you mention it. Long dark nights. Really, I feel for Manitoba. Here is this province desperate to grow...or even just hold steady, there are factories that need employees, but not enough people. I can’t believe that someone doesn’t know someone who needs a new start in MAN. Actually when I lived in Brandon Man, trying to grow the ward was our joint obsession. We were the #1 baptizing Ward in the mission. I met the Mission President’s wife in the ward one day. She was clearly sizing us up and thinking ‘These people don’t look like much. How do they do it?’ We had lots of activities and we were shameless about getting people in the building. We did a ton of cheap activities and ...we baptized a lot of people. Of course, one small town with a university and a college so our converts went elsewhere. Quote

Of course, one small town with a university and a college so our converts went elsewhere. Yeah, drugs. It's a hot button topic in our area since opening a supervised consumption site and needle debris being left everywhere. A kid got poked by a needle in the spring and another one apparently brought one home from school in his backpack. I usually have to call to get one picked up once a month that I find on my walk to and from work. It makes me nervous to let my children play at playgrounds. This picture was recently shared on facebook of a playground my daughter loves. That's a syringe poking down through the drainage holes in the playground. It's not the community we're accustomed to with these types of things going on. Sad. Sunday21 1 Quote
