Okay, seriously dude. There is a line you don't cross. And you just crossed it.

It should be illegal to play Journey songs outside of a roller skating rink - one with a disco ball. (Do they still have those?)

It actually should be illegal to play Journey anywhere.

Don't stop believin', Spaceman.  Any way you want it.

Well, looks like I get to tease someone else because of their horrible music taste. @mirkwood, you've been replaced.

Journey rocks hard. I was never a huge Journey fan, but I have a close friend who is the lead guitarist for a Journey cover band. Journey is responsible for one of the great classic symphonic hair metal ballads ever (Separate Ways) and also for one of the silliest music videos ever (Separate Ways).

Yeah, um, okay blunt truth time.

I don't expect much from you @Vort. I assumed your music taste was already wretched, and it turns out I was 100% correct. I expected more from @NeuroTypical, so it hurts a little bit to find out that he :: ahem :: is a fan of Journey.

Like this is news. I've made no secret of my love of The Chad Mitchell Trio, The Brothers Four, Metallica, Linkin Park, Boston, any number of female Mexican '80s pop trios, and heck, the Andrews Sisters. I make no apologies for my questionable musical taste. I'm like the guy who enjoys wearing a striped suit and polkadot bowtie. Laugh if you want. I'm too busy listening to Jimmie Rodgers, BJ Thomas, and of course Survivor (High on You, please, not Eye of the Tiger) to pay much attention to the mockery.

I don't have horrible music taste, I have powerful google-fu, coupled with memories of my childhood clock radio.  TBH, my music taste would be better described as "confoundingly bizarre".

It's hard to beat this stuff.  Here's a variation(?) of Benny Goodman's "Sing, Sing, Sing":

Pretty sure it was used in the WWII episode of The X-Files.

Which?  Roller skating rinks? or disco balls?

OK.  I think I recognized 1 in 4 of those.  Anyone else?

BTW, one of the ones I recognized was The Andrews Sisters.

I recognize the names: Metallica, Linkin Park, and BJ Thomas but can't come up with songs off the top of my head - might recognize songs if I saw them.  I remember Boston and Survivor.  And of course I was familiar with that Andrews Sisters song.  My musical taste is best described as eclectic.

I'm not a huge jazz fan, but I do enjoy some cool jazz, smooth jazz, and of course ragtime. I have never heard Hot Liquorice before; I enjoyed it. Thanks! In return, here's some Viktor Lazlo singing one of her classic tunes, Canoë Rose:

Thank you.

If you agree to make fun of @NeuroTypical for his music taste  (and make fun of @Vort for any possible reason) I might issue you a cool kids club card. @Midwest LDS has one. It was the crowning moment in his life. Dude cried when I bestowed one on him.

At which point, of course, you immediately took it back.

You've asked eight times to be in the club, but I told you, rule 982.2.54 specifically says that the club was established on the sole rule that @Vort could never be allowed in. Sorry bro, it's out of my hands.

Say what you will about Journey.  But as a college student I could just play three measures of Faithfully  on the piano and I would be surrounded by females who would fawn all over me.

My (now) wife did not have the same reaction.  One reason I married her.  She made me work for it...  And I was head-over-heels at first sight.

Just as well. I don’t want to belong to any club that would accept me as one of its members.
