Traveler Posted February 3, 2021 Report Posted February 3, 2021 (edited) It seems that many conservatives think of Fox News as the lone light house of conservative ideas handed down from our founding fathers. My question is why does the Fox News website have so many articles that seem to be little more than soft porn? Usually concerning some female celebrity showing off in a swimsuit? NeedleinA Posted February 3, 2021 Report Posted February 3, 2021 (edited) I believe Fox News 'was' a lone light house at one point. More and more actual conservatives are switching over to alternatives: NewsMAX, OAN, or independent Shows like: Beyond the Noise, War Room Pandemic, etc. Fox News first stabbed conservatives in the back with the Chris Wallace presidential debate, then with the premature election results for Arizona on Nov 4th, then, then, then, etc. Commentators like Sean Hannity can be found elsewhere, like the 'Patriot' channel on SiriusXM, etc. so no need to watch Fox for him. So, to answer your question: 6 hours ago, Traveler said: My question is why does the Fox News website have so many articles that seem to be little more than soft porn? I've been to Fox's website maybe twice ever. The only place I can find something that appears to be soft porn/swimsuit is in the 'Entertainment' section of the site. It all appears to be trash from TMZ. Why is it on Fox? I don't know. I'm not sure how long it has been on their site. Is this recent or has it been this way for a while? I think you and I associate with different conservatives. Do your friends really think that 1) Fox News is the lone light house of conservative ideas, and 2) that those ideas espoused by Fox News are handed down from the founding fathers? Let's assume both are true (I don't). 2 hours ago, Traveler said: why does the Fox News website have so many articles that seem to be little more than soft porn? I may want strict prohibition against all alcohol and watch Teetotalers News while you disagree and watch Speakeasy News. And yet despite that difference neither one of us drinks so alcohol ads would not benefit either station. More to your question though, women who support the Constitution still like to gossip and compare, and men who love freedom still ogle. 2) To quote the $100 bill: The Founding Fathers, including Benjamin Franklin, loved them "some sweet sweet booty". Traveler, not anymore. They lost a lot of followers, their ratings are ridiculously low...so low that their shows aren't longer informative but drama-driven. The only thing missing is an audience shouting: Jerry, Jerry, Jerry!! 😳 Quote
Just_A_Guy Posted February 4, 2021 Report Posted February 4, 2021 (edited) “Conservatism”, at least during my lifetime, has been a not-always-comfortable fusion of (forgive the inevitable caricaturing here) restrained, cerebral, ideological, morally upright (uptight?) “Christian coalition” types; in tension with boisterous, earthy, practical, libertarian-blue-collar types who like their alcohol strong and their women (to quote the Confederate Railroad song) “a little on the trashy side”. Much of the angst in the current Republican Party reflects this tension. FoxNews knows where their bread is buttered. Edited February 4, 2021 by Just_A_Guy Vort and lonetree 2 Quote

The Traveler I don't think it's the lone light house of conservative ideas, nor do I think it is viewed that way by most conservatives. I think it is viewed that way by FAR LEFT LIBERALS who are so far left they are looney. Unfortunately you see more and more of those types in society today. Because they are so far left, they only are aware of Fox News and constantly think it is giving views opposite of what they (the Looney so far left they might as well almost be on the right) think are correct. It is also viewed as a conservative/main news source I think by those on the right who believe the far left and align themselves with an uneducated assumption that by only listening to Fox News they are getting all the news possible. On the otherhand, you also have the FAR RIGHT crazies. They no longer really listen to Fox News either, feeling it is far too liberal these days. Instead they listen to OAN, the Blaze, and other such type sources. I have tuned into these channels once or twice and ironically, I'd say a few of their newscasters are FAR MORE responsible for the riots in the Capital on Jan. 6 than anything Trump did. To listen to some of the conspiracy theories they toss around and other items, they are just as bad as anything the far left says, if not worse. Unfortunately, it seems on the internet and other locations the Far Left and Far right are extremely loud in comparison to how much of the population they actually compose of, and are 100 times louder as a 1/1000th of the minority than anyone else. On the otherhand, I think that most Liberals are not as loud as the looney left and most Democrats are very similar to most Republicans as follows. Most of those who are not on the extremes get their news from a variety of sources rather than just to rely on one source. They may listen to Fox News, read the WSJ and the NYT, as well as watching MSNBC and CNN. Or they may get their news from Sky News, BBC, and the Guardian as well as Huffington post and Bloomberg TV. I (and maybe I'm too optimistic) feel most of those who pay attention to the news these days (and there are fewer and fewer who even care to find out about the news) go to a variety of sources and a variety of different views in order to try to find out more fully what the complete story is rather than just going to one source of information.
