MaidservantX Posted May 9, 2008 Report Posted May 9, 2008 The Curitiba (Brazil) Temple is having its Open House this month. On the lds.org Newsroom there is a nice article as well as pictures of the exterior and interior of the temple. Beautiful, and I thought of interest to many here on the board.LDS Newsroom - Strength of Church in Brazil Celebrated as Curitiba Temple Opens Doors to Public Quote
Jenamarie Posted May 9, 2008 Report Posted May 9, 2008 Wow. That's cool that there's a mural in one of the Ordinance Rooms. Gorgeous. :) Quote
skalenfehl Posted May 9, 2008 Report Posted May 9, 2008 Ok, I must be missing something. I only see one picture of the temple itself. Is there a link to the pictures somewhere? Edit: Ok, it works now. I just needed to refresh the page. Beautiful architecture and design. Quote
Optimistic_Trish Posted May 9, 2008 Report Posted May 9, 2008 Wow that temple is gorgeous!! Thanks for posting this X Quote
Maureen Posted May 9, 2008 Report Posted May 9, 2008 Wow. That's cool that there's a mural in one of the Ordinance Rooms. Gorgeous. :)I think murals are the norm in the bigger temples:Endowment RoomsM. Quote
Jenamarie Posted May 9, 2008 Report Posted May 9, 2008 Right, but those are also older Temples that were in operation before they switched to the video format. I've been to several of the "bigger" Temples, and only the older pre-video ones had murals. I wish they were more common! :) Quote
MaidservantX Posted May 9, 2008 Author Report Posted May 9, 2008 One of the ordinance rooms in the Snowflake, Arizona Temple has a huge mural. Quote
Jenamarie Posted May 9, 2008 Report Posted May 9, 2008 Really? that's cool. I really wish it were more common. Quote
Moksha Posted May 9, 2008 Report Posted May 9, 2008 I have always wanted to see that dinosaur on one of the murals at the Manti Temple. Quote
VisionOfLehi Posted May 9, 2008 Report Posted May 9, 2008 While I haven't seen them firsthand, I've seen photos of the murals in the Nauvoo Temple. They're beautiful.NAUVOO INTERNET NEWS Nauvoo Temple interior photos Quote
Canuck Mormon Posted May 9, 2008 Report Posted May 9, 2008 I must admit that I was a little suspicious when I saw the title of this thread. Then I saw that X had started it, so it must be OK. I have only had the opportunity to go through the Cardston Temple, an older Temple, but I must admit that the murals are very calming and beautiful. Quote
WillowTheWhisp Posted May 9, 2008 Report Posted May 9, 2008 Oooh I'm jealous. Those murals are beautiful. We don't have any in Preston or London temples and they are not small temples. Thank you for sharing those. The Nauvoo photos are beautiful too. Quote
AmyL Posted May 12, 2008 Report Posted May 12, 2008 That is just amazing. It always brings joy to my heart when a temple is built and dedicated. I was able to go through the Redlands CA temple with my family before I was baptized and it will always be a special experience for them and for me. Quote
HiJolly Posted May 12, 2008 Report Posted May 12, 2008 I must admit that I was a little suspicious when I saw the title of this thread. Then I saw that X had started it, so it must be OK. I have only had the opportunity to go through the Cardston Temple, an older Temple, but I must admit that the murals are very calming and beautiful.I helped in a very small way to renovate the Mesa temple back in the '70s (like, I swept the floor!). They removed a lot of gorgeous murals, which really was disapointing. I might be over it, now that I can go through the SLC temple! (more beautiful murals). I love the 360-degree mural in the nauvoo creation room (or is it the world room?). I was blessed to be able to hear the 3 artists explain their work, as I looked at it. :) HiJolly Quote
Maureen Posted May 12, 2008 Report Posted May 12, 2008 My BIL got married in early '91, during which time the Alberta (Cardston) Temple was being renovated. So they decided to get married in Vegas. :)Las Vegas Nevada LDS (Mormon) TempleM. Quote

Hemidakota Posted May 19, 2008 Report Posted May 19, 2008 I have never been in the Nauvoo Temple but WOW! The murals are so beautiful. Thanks Lehi Quote
Sister-of-Jared Posted May 20, 2008 Report Posted May 20, 2008 The Murals are gorgeous! They have them in the Mesa, AZ temple as well. It is an older temple, and I married there in 1972 when there was no video. Today it's all video but the mural's remain and it is lovely. I enjoy going to a live service now and then, although mostly the actors are pretty bad. Being a good actor just isn't one of the things required of temple workers! All the pictures have been lovely and inspirational. Thanks! Sister of Jared Quote
