  1. I do admire President Packer’s viewpoints and insights as truly love Moroni and the great sacrifice he made in bringing forth the record of his people for us. Adding to his insight of the spiritual warfare, what is already lying before us, it is going to be “20-years of HELL” for many of the faithful flock. It will require great patience and complete obedience of any righteous member of the Christ’s flock. It will seemed, the world will be winning for that timeframe. However, mistakenly, GOD is only allowing the adversary to weed out the faithful among the Babylonians. In the end, comes the sweeping within HIS house and then the world.
  2. Talking about the FDA, who is also to blame of deaths in allowing such deadly drugs to be prescribed, I am not surprise see lawyers have not gone after the government for making horrific mistakes.
  3. It will be hard for him in not being biased in this case and living amongest those of his life style. Even I were a judge and standing in a LDS case, would have some bias opinions against those who opposed the church. But still, time of change is coming.
  4. If you had a "best friend", it should be your companion. Friendship can remain but never to override your marriage or considered greater than spending time with the one who want to share eternality with.
  5. Keith already gave the answer. But let me add this. If a member of the Bishopric asked me to give the invocation, so be it. I simply don't question the motive behind the last minute request. Now, what I do question and to myself, whether or not I can invoke the Spirit for the meeting. Whether my prayer will be affected and is heard by the Godhead in bringing forth this Spirit for those who seat upon the stand and those who are listening. Usually, it is done properly, you feel the confirmation or the presence of the Holy Ghost. The goal for any member, always be ready to give a proper and affected prayer in behalf the ward membership.
  6. Exactly...well stated Melissa. :clap:Eventually, forcing the will upon others will be the norm of life as it was with Lot and the City of Sodom. Apostle Marvin J. Ashton talked about those who live two standards, one the gospel and the other the world. Prop 8 is a great example of "do we follow the brethren or do we follow the world's opinion?' Choose this day, which god you serve. We live in a complex world where many forces are calling out, "Love me." A sure way to set our guidelines for that which we choose to serve and learn to love is to follow the admonition of Joshua: "As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord." (Josh. 24:15.) Let us look to our own lives. We serve that which we love. If we sacrifice and give our love for that which our Father in heaven asks of us, our footsteps will be set upon the path of eternal life. May God help us to love the right, love the truth, and love areas of service that are rewarding and eternal. (Ye Are My Friends by Marvin J. Ashton)
  7. Mulekites... There is a hill nearby what some scholars claimed was the final battle of the Nephites and the Jaredites. I won't go into the exact location fearing, someone will remove it but it depicts a final act of honor among a great people who fought against their own brothers. The stone is still there to this day. This maybe the same type of stone that Zarehemla found.

  9. Excellent point...now, I have seen where the night prior, setting up the chairs by specific wards, create advantage of saving several seating postions up front in a 8-ward building. I need to talk to my friend who is a Stake President and use your stake concept with investigators and baptized members.

  17. Beside Justice input, it is nothing more than Mormon narration (third person voice) of the records or plates of handed down. As Daniel Ludlow stated and summarizes the changes of 'voices' between the books. “Note that the main story in the book of Mosiah is told in the third person rather than in the first person as was the custom in the earlier books of the Book of Mormon. The reason for this is that someone else is now telling the story, and that ‘someone else’ is Mormon. With the beginning of the book of Mosiah we start our study of Mormon’s abridgment of various books that had been written on the large plates of Nephi. (3 Nephi 5:8–12.) The book of Mosiah and the five books that follow—Alma, Helaman, 3 Nephi, 4 Nephi, and Mormon—were all abridged or condensed by Mormon from the large plates of Nephi, and these abridged versions were written by Mormon on the plates that bear his name, the plates of Mormon” (Daniel H. Ludlow, A Companion to Your Study of the Book of Mormon, p.173) To aid you in the future, use church resources online or simply download it in a PDF format at this weblink: Book of Mormon Student Manual
  18. Or listen to what Apostle Elder Jeffrey R. Holland stated to the Young women (this does include older women): "Frankly, the world has been brutal with you in this regard. You are bombarded in movies, television, fashion magazines, and advertisements with the message that looks are everything! The pitch is, “If your looks are good enough, your life will be glamorous and you will be happy and popular.” That kind of pressure is immense in the teenage years, to say nothing of later womanhood. In too many cases too much is being done to the human body to meet just such a fictional (to say nothing of superficial) standard. As one Hollywood actress is reported to have said recently: “We’ve become obsessed with beauty and the fountain of youth. … I’m really saddened by the way women mutilate [themselves] in search of that. I see women [including young women] … pulling this up and tucking that back. It’s like a slippery slope. [You can’t get off of it.] … It’s really insane … what society is doing to women.” In terms of preoccupation with self and a fixation on the physical, this is more than social insanity; it is spiritually destructive, and it accounts for much of the unhappiness women, including young women, face in the modern world. And if adults are preoccupied with appearance—tucking and nipping and implanting and remodeling everything that can be remodeled—those pressures and anxieties will certainly seep through to children. At some point the problem becomes what the Book of Mormon called “vain imaginations.” And in secular society both vanity and imagination run wild. One would truly need a great and spacious makeup kit to compete with beauty as portrayed in media all around us. Yet at the end of the day there would still be those “in the attitude of mocking and pointing their fingers” as Lehi saw, because however much one tries in the world of glamour and fashion, it will never be glamorous enough." 20. I just wear them as pieces of clothing. I have yet to have anyone in the medical field ask a question. Or, maybe they are afraid to ask due to the physical size intimidation.
