Okay, I've foreclosed on a convent, tossed an orphanage out on the street for not paying rent, and seized the entire inventory of a mom & pop store....but there are limits.

It constantly amazes me just devious Satan can be in trying to destroy the Church. You have to wonder just what we've come to as a country when a man who made a lot of money legally, and never cheated on his wife and holds his wedding vows seriously, and goes to church, is seen as so terrible that he can't be considered.

Just make absolutely certain that the new insurance carrier doesn't class your pregnancy as a "pre-existing condition" that they won't cover. It often happens that a new carrier will have a 30 to 90 day exclusion for pre-existing conditions. During this period, the new carrier will not cover any of the costs of treatment for a pre-existing condition. Just some free legal advice...:)

Alma discussed this in Alma 33, when he referred to the teachings of Zenos. In verse 13, for instance, judgments are turned away because of HF's Son. Otherwise, without the last and greatest sacrifice (Alma 34:13) of Jesus Christ, the need to continue "spilling blood" in atonement for transgressions would have to continue under the Law of Moses. In Alma 34:15 it reads "And thus he shall bring salvation to all those who shall believe on his name; this being the intent of this last sacrifice, to bring about the bowels of mercy, which overpowereth justice, and bringeth about means unto men that they may have faith unto repentance." As long as one has "faith unto repentance", then the quality of mercy satisfies the demands of justice. So, instead of each of us having to offer up our own blood to atone for our sins and transgressions, as would be demanded strictly by the requirements of justice, the sacrifice of Jesus bestows upon each of us the mercy which acts to overcome or otherwise fulfill the demands of justice...so long as we maintain our "faith unto repentance". Or something like that.

Remove Beer Commericials from NCAA Games!

C'mon...after all, how do all those subliterate college athletes expect to pay for their free classes, fancy cars, and cool vacations if Budweiser and Coors can't sell a few bottles during time-outs? -
Would you kill if God commanded you to?

I haven't read all of the other posts in this thread, but I have to say this. If HF wants some guy dead, He can do it for himself. Which, by the way, is not the same thing as me wanting some guy dead, and doing it myself. -

The Formality of Deity - What is God like?

HF and Jesus have to have a sense of humor, logically speaking. After all, we are created in the image and likeness of HF. -
Non-RM stigma

Things you have to have to serve in any of the "important" callings (bishop, counselors, stake leadership, relief society (for women, of course)): Served a mission married in the temple (not married first and then sealed later, you have to do it all at once) have more than two children have a really good professional job where your wife doesn't have to work outside the home Things that will prevent you from holding any of those callings: no mission no children (for whatever reason) being single, or being divorced being married to a non-member -

Along with many of the food and toiletry items mentioned by everyone else, I have new clothes (summer & winter) stored, a large medical kit made up of the usual things plus emergency surgery and wound care items (never know when that axe might slip!!!) and a variety of OTC and herbal medicines, and most importantly, I have a small library of books. These include medical handbooks like the US Army special forces medical guide, The Mountaineers first aid and medical care book, and herbal and homeopathic medicines guide, edible plants guidebooks for the geographical region I live in, books on 19th century home construction and building with alternative materials (straw bales, etc), boy scout handbooks and field guides, small farm operations, carpentry and woodcraft, basic metal working (and blacksmithing), a book on 18th and 19th century chemistry (heck, I might have to make my own black powder LOL), and so forth. I've also taken first aid and first responder courses at the community college. Of course, it could just be my natural paranoia, or the fact that I like to read...:)

Funky...I don't think it's a silly question (although I also don't think it's gonna be asked on the final exam...LOL), but my response would be that Moses 1:33, "and by the Son I created them (worlds without number)" seems to suggest that the Savior, under the direction of Heavenly Father, created those other worlds, so I would be inclined towards the notion that Christ is the Savior for all of these worlds without number. On the other hand, I could be really, REALLY wrong!!! LOL

"And worlds without number have I created; and I also created them for mine own purpose; and by the Son I created them, which is mine Only Begotten." Moses 1:33. "But only an account of this earth, and the inhabitants thereof, give I unto you. For Behold, there are many worlds that have passed away by the word of my power. And there are many that now stand, and innumerable are they unto man; but all things are numbered unto me, for they are mine and I know them." Moses 1:35 "I am he who said--Other sheep have I which are not of this fold--unto my disciples, and many there were that understood me not." D&C 10:59 "And I will show unto this people that I had other sheep, and that they were a branch of the house of Jacob." D&C 10:60 "And other sheep I have, which are not of this fold: them also I must bring, and they shall hear my voice; and there shall be one fold, and one shepherd." John 10:16 So, from my point of view, there's absolutely nothing wrong with believing that life exists in places other than the Earth.

Things I miss about the past. Courtesy counting change back Not interrupting a chat with a human being to talk with the clod calling on your cell phone Using both hands on the steering wheel Only getting mail once a day Not having to cruise through 200 channels to confirm that TV is the vast wasteland

That's right...trumpets and saxes and suchlike are instruments of the devil, I guess. I happen to own five saxophones..LOL

I kinda interpreted sunglasses and designer dogs as more of a symptom of a society which has lost a sizeable portion of it's moral base. I think Stampede views these things in the context of a conspicuous consumption of things, done by many people so that they can be seen to be "successful" and "hip". But there's a larger point which is made, and that point is that so much of what so many people do is focused on the externals. Do we have the right car, parked in front of the right home, furnished with the right stuff, as the result of the right job, making the right amount of money? Anything else seems to be viewed by society as a whole as some sort of failure on the part of a person who doesn't have these things. It seems as if the person who consumes only what they need, without trying to gain so much more than is necessary, is someone who is in some way more of a burden on society. The external symbols seem to be viewed as the most important. That is, a person is what they own and have, rather than who they are and what they do. Or maybe I just say all of that because I really don't have much, and don't make a lot of money...:)

You know, if there wasn't a living prophet, I could just go to any old church.

Education major factor in determing who dies in death row cases
Bookmeister replied to Elphaba's topic in Current Events
I was working on this big, long argument about education levels, economic opportunities, crappy defense lawyers, etc, but instead........... 1. No education, no decent job opportunity. 2. No decent job, no decent money. 3. No decent money legally, then get money illegally. 4. Add in anger and rage, an environment in which you're surrounded by other people just like you, where you see the most aggressive people get the most money and "stuff", then sit back and wait to see what happens. Once you're charged with a crime that sets you up for execution...... 1. No money to hire a private lawyer and pay for a proper defense team, so.... 2. You get the 2 years out of law school public defender, or.... 3. The mostly drunk private attorney appointed for $200 to handle the case (with an additional $200 if you end up actually going to trial) by the court, and... 4. No money to hire investigators, to challenge evidence (especially scientific evidence), to locate potential defense witnesses...... And you're going up against the entire prosecutor's office, all the police, all the outside experts, and at the same time listening to this appointed lawyer that you don't trust at all...... Of course the poor, stupid people are more likely to be executed. Now, I'm nothing remotely approaching a liberal sort of fellow, but if the criminal justice system is going to work at all, people have to be on something approaching a level playing field. OJ Simpson won because he had the resources to battle the state of California on it's own turf. If the case had involved OJ Simpson, school janitor, the trial would have lasted a week and he would have spent the rest of his life in prison. It seems pretty simple to me. Education equals money, and legitimate money means a much smaller chance of ever being executed for a crime. I realize there there are no absolutes, so please don't read this as if there are. I know there are exceptions to the rules...LOL. -
Political correctness is a way for a minority of white people to feel guilty about things somebody else did, and then to try and make the rest of us apologize.

Evolution, Science and Conservatives
Bookmeister replied to DigitalShadow's topic in General Discussion
Science is one of the tools the Lord has given us to help us understand the beauty and majesty of His creation. I suppose, if someone is anti-science, they'd better not use plastic, drive or ride in a car, go to a doctor, take modern medicines, watch TV or listen to the radio.....otherwise they're just hypocrites. -
Does that mean that Marcia Homosexual Hardin won an Oscar? I wonder if Homosexual Talese is still a famous author?

Susie, yes, it was many years ago, when I was much younger...and much faster...and a lot stupider...but I survived.

Many years ago, I spent some time in Rhodesia doing...well...stuff that we don't talk about here. It's amazing how a country that had the highest standard of living in all of Africa has, like the surrounding countries, become a vast landfill ruled by whoever can chop off the most heads.
