  1. It sounds like it took place in England lol. Seems like someone got their feelings hurt by name-calling and took revenge This is the part that really worries me Basically, they could keep your kids from you forever until you paint your bathroom a color the CPS people like, but they don't have to tell you what color!
  2. I think everyone should have to work minimum wage at least once in their adult life. It would be a great character-building exercise
  3. Yeah, until there's a huge oil spill in the seas by those countries Can't do the same thing and reasonably expect different results.
  4. Ram, there are a great many people in this country who are already taking their share of the bitter medicine. Public service programs and schools are getting slashed. I submit it isn't the level of spending that is the problem, but the items the money is spent on is the problem. Also, taxes need to be collected from everyone. The Idaho Legislature’s website says 2009 sales tax collections were barely $1.2 billion while $1.7 billion were exempted. You can make the argument that these exemptions are needed so businesses can employ more people...but if so why isn't Idaho's unemployment rate lower?
  5. Because the organization responsible for the biggest man-made catastrophe in the history of everything shouldn't be asked to pitch in and help. They should be sued, lose the first round, and fight the rulings for decades before a pittance (after the lawyer's cut) is sent to those who are still around, as is the natural state of things. Darn that crazy president for wanting things done a different way.
  6. I was sealed to my family at the Salt Lake Temple, it will always be first in my heart. I remember the first time I saw the San Diego temple. It was above the fog and looked completely unearthly. I think that was when I understood just how Heaven is compared with mortality.
  7. I think people who ask if LDS women will only get to serve in Relief Society have no real clue what Relief Society is. I'm with Apple, I don't need anything else added to my already overflowing plate
  8. Interesting premise, Marshac, but it doesn't explain why insurance rates have been rising (leaping in some cases) long before healthcare reform was more than a glimmer in Ted Kennedy's eyes. Kind've like there's a link...healthcare costs rise...then more people want healthcare reform...almost scary
  9. Behold, the power of suggestion. To be honest it would have been a more effective PR coup if it was BP that offered that vast amount of money. One of the president's obligations is to be diplomatic. Somehow I don't see Pres. Obama calling in a couple of tough guys to shake down BP, he's much more subtle. Sorry Bytor, I've watched the clip a few times and I just don't see it how you see it. I would have more respect for Sen. Barton if he had stuck to his first apology, at least that one was sincere
  10. I don't know....people have been complaining about lobbyists and special interest groups at least since my political baby steps way back in the early 80s. It seems reform takes 1 step forward and 2 steps back.
  11. Someone could send links to important people to a few sites that claim LDSaints aren't Christian, then maybe they'll allow this site?
  12. To be honest, I wasn't entirely certain. I've seen 10 yr old girls play soccer like it's a grudge match. But I've also seen grown men play it like it's a stroll through a garden. So I could see both sides of the discussion
  13. We frighten people with....the truth! Actually, I blame all the punny jokes in the 'clean humor' thread.
  14. Wow John Doe, the soccer games where you're at are pretty pathetic. I have never seen girls play with bloodlust in their eyes until I saw a 5th grade soccer match
  15. I couldn't believe people would fall for such an obvious poke lol. Maybe that's why there was so much hostility, because the Southerners were insulted the Brits would think they were dumb enough to act like they were expected to act? lol my brain hurts now.
  16. Apparently I'm not the only person less than impressed by Mr. Tony Hayward's answers to Congress British press turns on Hayward, with plenty of anti-Obama rage thrown in for good measure - Yahoo! News This part stood out for me I do feel for the guy. It's never fun to be point when something goes bad. Especially if you have no idea what the whys are. But then, that's why he was paid the big bucks, wasn't it?
  17. I agree with you, to a point, Marshac. The sad fact is the CEO is responsible for everything, and to go into a congressional hearing without researching the info he has to know he would be asked is foolish at best. I think the disconnect between what the CEOs etc. do and the day-to-day operations is a huge part of what is wrong with our current business environment. I have the comfort of knowing the bosses for my company actually know how to grow and process potatoes, and if they ever had to go to a congressional hearing (or whatever the Canadians have) they'd be able to answer intelligently
  18. I about died laughing when I read about what the good senator said. It's one thing to believe some politicians are in bed with big money, but an entirely different thing to see it proven true.
  19. Ohhh a fellow LDS anarchist..and more somewhere out there in the ethernet? I'm getting goosebumps This is a good quote, and I agree with it. True anarchy is a huuuuge responsibility. You are not responsible for doing the right thing within a certain worldly framework. You don't get points for driving past a cop while doing the speed limit. Instead you are doing the right thing as agreed upon between you and your creator. isn't just a nice thing to say, I believe it's the key to a successful anarchist society.Unfortunately though I don't see it happening until around the 2nd coming, and by that time we'll be ready for an even better form of gov't.
  20. Sometimes you just have to laugh ><
  21. Sorry, JaG, I don't know why your last post didn't show up on my screen. It was a good article
  22. Those are pretty nighties No one is laughing at you, J! Garments are tricky things. As I recall, much to my chagrin at the time, my parents decided to bypass the whole thing by sleeping in the nude.
  23. Here's the funniest article I read all day Hot Air Awesome: Israeli students trying to organize flotilla to Turkey
  24. Hordak, I saw the pictures then lost the site >< can you provide a link? It's funny that the pictures that prove the IDF members were hurt were provided by an extreme anti-Israeli group. It's like they want to show the West how cruel the soldiers were and show the Middle East 'Yeah we kicked Israel's butt!'
