  1. Huh. I didn't know the Swiss were part of the EU.
  2. I have seen the light, economically anyways, and offer this for public consumption: Bernard Goldberg Attacks Senator Sanders and Calls for 'Big Bronze and Granite Monument' to Honor the Rich | Video Cafe
  3. Anatess, you seem to not be aware of your economic strength. Every time you buy something you enable an employer to pay an employee. If you didn't buy, he/she wouldn't hire/employee. If a lot of people buy from a company that company usually employs more people to meet demand. You, even though you may not personally employ someone, have just as much to contribute to the unemployment rate as employers. Basic economics, which I got an A+ in, btw. But said in a much nicer manner :)
  4. As far as I can see, most American businesses have been creating jobs...in China. Kind've a vicious cycle. Companies ship jobs overseas because of cheaper labor, import cheaper products. Americans with lower-paying jobs buy cheaper stuff cause they can't afford American product prices, creating a bigger demand for imports. Economics, what can you do? Besides give the companies with foreign employees lots of tax breaks
  5. But now they have to make jobs...hopefully in the USA lol.
  6. I hope they block it. Unbelievable how the dems had the moral high ground when the reps held hostage the unemployment extension (what was that, about $60 billion in cost?) so that the tax break (i.e. not paying the taxes already in place) on those making more than $250k/year would be extended (costing what, about $130 billion?), and then lost it when Pres. Obama made that deal with the reps. Not blaming Obama on that, he just wants people to be able to eat lol. But now if the dems block this bill they will be seen as the ones who want to ruin the unemployed's Christmas..and rent, food, stuff like that. Well played, reps. Well played indeed
  7. Happy Thanksgiving! I'm so grateful for my family
  8. neat! i'm excited for you :)
  9. Reminds me of some of my college genetics classes, specifically dealing with attributes that make some (animals and people) more alturistic than others. I don't have my books anymore but I recall studies that show that some have a greater tendency to suppress their own instincts (like reproduction) in favor of other's wellbeing, specifically those within the same family. This seems like a variation to that idea.
  10. Nazis vs. Pirates. A tale as old as time...
  11. I love free-range kids. They taste so much better. J/K, it's a great website I let my daughter and nephews out of the car at one end of a block and they go all around the street, then back in the car. But that's because it's usually freezing and cold kids don't share the wealth as much as warm kids.
  12. I used this site a lot when trying to find baby names for my youngest

    Help!

    Yeah, just marry the girl!
  23. Sorry, Ram. I still say that people who would rather see someone's house burn as punishment for not paying $75 is pretty sad. That's like letting a cow die because it got stuck in some mud..on a Sunday
  24. There is a flaw in the treatment of out-of-bounds property, and it's a huge one, but the flaw is the county's responsibility to fix. I'm pretty sure a certain portion of my taxes go to pay for fire protection of out-of-cities property. Why don't they just add that fee to property taxes? I think even the most anti-tax person can see the usefulness of such a solution.
