  1. Americans wake up all the time. It all depends on which side you happen to agree with

    H.P. Lovecraft

I tried reading his stories but they never really clicked with me. Kind've reminded me of Plato's stuff lol.
  3. I just read this article Turkish (blood)bath - NYPOST.com Ordinarily I don't read this paper but I like this commentary. Especially the part with the 'peace activists' wielding iron bars. Sky news video was talking about how they could see the bars but no knives. If I was getting hit by an iron bar I wouldn't be wondering about knives
  4. I think there are D&D cards games out there. Warhammer as well. Right now my 11 and 10 yr old nephews are fanatical about Yu-gi-oh. Last year it was Bakugan. I like Yu-gi-oh because they have very strong cards that have female characters although I've noticed them getting away from that lately Have you seen the Bella Sara cards? I don't know if you can play them but they look pretty girly lol. My daughter has her own Yu-gi-oh deck, and she's pretty strategic. She's at that stage where she doesn't know if she should actively try to beat boys or let them win, but I bet your daughters won't have that problem with you!
  5. Gwen, you made me cry with that song!! *sniff* Darn pregnancy hormones
  6. I'm glad you pointed that out, Inquisitive. I've noticed a strong tendency on this site to write in complete sentences, and even have paragraphs! I love it, and that's why I hang out here more than anywhere else. In perfect honesty, when I cheat it's because I forgot how to spell something We are the line against anarchy and chaos!
  7. I'm more in agreement with Mo. Back in the Golden Days of American Morality an entire people were kicked out of the U.S.A in the name of Religion. Women were raped repeatedly by their owners in the days of Purity. I could go on with a few more examples, but I won't. The fact is Morality is pretty much decided by the Powers that Be, and at the moment those Powers that have Been are cranky.
  8. Eiffel Tower vs. Ogden Temple. Nope, not even going there. I think the design of the Ogden temple had a purpose, it was approved by the First Presidency after all. I just don't think the majority of the members have the spiritual maturity to appreciate it
  9. Removed original post because talking about the pros and cons of the teacher's union is off topic. The teacher was an idiot. But then again that individual is in a room filled with paint fumes all day so allowances perhaps can be made.
  10. Yeah I read the opinion piece I wonder if the increase in raids by the S.W.A.T. officers has more to do with justifying it's existence than the prevalence of drugs.
  11. If April showers bring May flowers, what do May flowers bring? Pilgrims!
  12. Be thou an example.
  13. Dean killed Zachary???????? j/k
  14. I thought the translation was really cool. Now I want to learn French so I can sound like that :) Edit: The book in the link looks like something the missionaries give out, and yes those are typically free. TY for the warning!
  15. Wow that was an intense video. Why would the police dept. release it? Edit: ok I read more and see why they had to release it. The poor dog What is amazing to me is the police were 'just another day', like they do this stuff all the time.
  16. When speaking irl, as in speaking face-to-face or in a group, you take in verbal and non-verbal clues as to what to say or how to say it, and that can temper responses or even what topics to introduce. Posting on the internet frees you from the peer group mentality, so yes I think most people feel a greater sense of 'being who they are' when they type. I know when I'm out and about I usually have a bazillion things to think about and do that I probably don't pay as close attention to the topic under discussion as I should. Sitting here at my chair I can relax and give almost full attention to the topics and send my ideas out into the world, knowing that maybe some one out there agrees with me, or more likely doesn't and I'm ok with that
  17. Do you have a link? I'd like to see it I wouldn't doubt that there are places that will try to sell anything for a profit, but as mentioned there are legitimate outlets.
  18. I need to ask my sister what's going on. I missed almost a whole month!
  19. What I'm saying is the people vote for who they want to run the gov't, and the president has to figure out how to work with them. Similar to the UK, but my understanding is the prime minister needs to quickly for a coalition or he's in big trouble right off the bat. That gives little parties way too much power IMHO. I understand what you're getting at lol, and I agree to a point. But within the 2 parties there are usually enough people throughout the political spectrum to make one happy(ish) with the one you vote for.
  20. I like how in the USA the people vote for who they want and then the politicians have to live with the results. Sure you can get deadlocked and go for a few years with nothing getting done, but honestly I see politicians doing nothing as a good thing sometimes I get confused about how they do it in some countries like Italy. where people have to get enough of the elected people on their side to form a gov't or it gets dissolved and they have to do it all over again. And then you have places like Canada where the Prime Minister can totally dissolve the gov't and call for new elections.
  21. Technically we in the USA are not suppose to wear the American flag as clothing. Here I sit with my Faded Glory t-shirt printed with the American flag as a map...but I feel bad about it
  22. I would have posted earlier but I was way confused. Still am, actually. Can someone explain in simple terms why you guys don't have a gov't that's easy to figure out like the USA?
  23. Will it have an Orange Julius?
  24. From your second link, Here's a Dem who thinks it's the right thing to do. I'm a Dem who thinks it is, too. It's hard for people who haven't lived by the border of Mexico to understand how porous the thing is. I almost wish we had the same laws regarding illegal immigration Mexico has. Also from the same article,
