  1. He's deserving of a prize though. Do they have a Nobel prize for 'Creates the Most Change in the World in Less than a Decade'?
  2. Are there cookies? Can't have koolade without cookies. Pretty soon we'll be passing around the hot chocolate (with milk or water).
  3. 1.) No food in the bedrooms. 2.) No movies or shows with questionable content. 3.) Do not open the door to strangers if you are under the age of 16. 4.) If waking up mom when she is sleeping after a hard night at work it had better be really good. We have more rules, but they are mostly things like 'Don't drink out of the milk jug' or 'No anime until homework is done'. What I've noticed is as my daughter gets older things that were rules once are now customs
  4. Because that award goes to Bush II, he was president for 8 years. Our new president was merely a 1 term senator at that time This is a joke, mods!!!! I meant us all to chuckle a bit. No seriousness intended (see smiley face above).
  5. She looked just fine in that ad. That's the problem with these magazines. They take people who for the most part look just fine (if a little underfed) and make them into Revenge of the Stick People with Amazing Mammaries. It's that attitude that made me stop buying magazines. That was about when Vogue said they wouldn't feature Oprah on the cover because she 'didn't fit their image' (too chubby). I understand she's been on the cover since, but their comment has always stuck with me
  6. I make hot chocolate with the little pouches because the kidlings don't have the restraint for the good stuff yet. Seeing a $0.99 box of cocoa packets slaughtered is better than seeing a $9 container empty in a day. I would have to say though that the marshmallows in the Swiss Miss packets are far superior than any others I've tasted.
  7. He bought carbon credits to offset his family's carbon footprint. I love talking in enviromental-speak Getting back to the Nobel peace prize, well any Nobel prize, a whole bunch of it is deeply political. You think the peace prize is bad? You should see what goes on behind the scenes in the science part! Our Washington lobbyists are infants compared to acadamia. I'm glad Pres. Obama got this award, even if it's just because of how his message makes others feel. Feelings become actions, and actions are what changes the world.
  8. Well, not that I think global warming is really happening, but have you noticed the attention span of the average person? The holes in the ozone layer are old news.
  9. Here's a great video of the moon, for those of us who want to remember what she was like before getting brutally assaulted.
  10. Maybe Celestial Men don't have as much to do as the Celestial Women? Ohhhh I need sleep before I go off an a whole funny tangent about the trials and tribulations of eternal couples
  11. Gore did a lot to advance the cause against global warming, whether it's actually happening or not lol. That didn't exactly come from nowhere. My disagreement with his award was that it should have been in the science category.
  12. One of the questions I have, for those who do not believe Christ and Satan can be brothers, is where the heck did Lucifer come from? To say that he is not one of God's children puts him on an almost equal stature with God Himself. Seems odd to me those who try to say Mormons are denigrating Christ are themselves denigrating God.
  13. It really is amazing to me, seeing this huge disconnect between those who like Pres. Obama and those who do not. He's a loser when Chicago lost out on the Olympics yet when he gets a cool award for helping to change the perception of the world towards the United States it suddenly doesn't mean anything?
  14. If she was 7 years old she'd be taken away from her parents for child neglect
  15. Your first poll And your second poll is the same one
  16. I stopped believing in polls about the same time I stopped believing in carbon dating
  17. That's a really good idea, silvermoon. I like it. Elphaba, I understand what you're saying. But I think (to use a really bad analogy) it's like the difference between a really good basketball player who keeps dunking the ball and a really good basketball player who can assist.
  18. AP Poll: Health care overhaul hanging in there - Yahoo! News The polls that showed the opposite reaction were taken by the same very miniscule amount of people. Do you want to have faith in polls? Or only when the results are what you already agree with?
  19. You have access to the internet, obviously so I would recommend The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and Mormon.org - Home These are really good sites and will give you much needed information. I also like this one LDS.org - Friend because it has coloring pages (and who doesn't like computer coloring pages?) and LDS.org - New Era because it is geared towards young adults your age. Enjoy!
  20. Welcome back! Too bad about the neighbors, I guess there are idiots everywhere lol
  21. Having played the trombone I can say with a certain amount of certainty...the acoustics of the chapel would make even the softest sound from that wonderful instrument sound louder than a tornado at full force. A french horn would probably be the only brass that would work.I'm not saying brass cannot be beautiful and uplifting. I always get teary when hearing Taps played by a bugle or a trumpet. But the potential for disaster is greater by far than with a violin or piano. Ohh a french horn with a cello, now that would be a thing of beauty.
  22. Tell your nephew to get a bow
  23. Abducted baby's mom regaining custody of kids Now we know this I'm glad she gets her kids back, but I can't help but think someone got a bit too much in a rush, reminding me of when the state of Texas took all 400+ kids from that polygamous community.
  24. Farmer, all of your tax dollars are going to fund abortions and welfare, which is considerate of you because that allows everyone else in the United States to fund roads, military, national parks, vaccinations, schools, and all sorts of other federal-funded things. Thank you for taking one for the team
  25. No, they just revel in the gushy baloney spewed from every other rep Here's a good summary of my thoughts on the Olympics thing TRUST YOUR INSTINCTS, MR. PRESIDENT - Yahoo! News
