“Sometimes you might be tempted to think as I did from time to time in my youth: “The way things are going, the world’s going to be over with. The end of the world is going to come before I get to where I should be.” Not so! You can look forward to doing it right --getting married, having a family, seeing your children and grandchildren, maybe even great-grandchildren.” Counsel to Youth, Boyd K Packer, Oct 2011

Im torn. I like the Deadpool character. And he does have some christ figure imagery. The Good: He is honest, loyal, will fight till the death for his beliefs and will sacrifice everything for those he loves. The Bad: He is juvenile, lewed, vulgar, obnoxious, and sacrilegious. And “any press is good press, as long as you get my name right” - they could have gotten the name of the church correct. We did fine with the Book of Mormon musical...

Hipparchus used epicycles back in 150 BC to predict solar eclipses and create a working model of the solar system. His Antikythera mechanism pictured below on the left with moder day attempted recreations. Prolemy expanded on Hipparchus model with many more epicycles to create an accurate model of the geocentric solar system including the 5 main planets in 150 AD. Ptolemy’s model is still used today in mechanical clocks like the astronomical clock tower in Prague Pretty cool old technology.

/sigh First do some basic research. Average IQ is 100. One standard deviation is +\- 15 I value my work ethic and wisdom over my raw brain power. And I’d rather hang out with my 6 year old than a bunch of neurosurgeons on their 3rd or 4th wife with their irritating self righteous banter...
-
Im an M.D. and my wife has her J.D. I can guarantee it does not require any level of higher intelligence. I met the classmates. Being a successful surgeon requires hard work much more than being a ‘genius’. But good luck with your super duper high IQ.

Yeah, prior to modern days everyone made their own garments... If you have been through the temple you should know how to make them... Garments have gone through many changes. The original set were made of animal skins. emma made the first modern day sets. Full length with red trim... I purchase mine for convience and comfort.

For example, I fix bones. If someone in my ward breaks a bone and I fix it I dont charge them. This is not service by his defination. And because he does not have a job, everything he does is service.
-
We have a couple ‘men’ in our ward who have been unemployed for an extended period of time. Their wives have taken up the slack and are providing for the family. They have this habbit of referring to themselves as full-time fathers. Drives me freakin crazy. One of the guys gave a talk in sacrament about service and explained how you cannot provide service in an area where you work and receive a salary... Anyway when I introduce myself I always add that I’m a full time father as well.

When my daughter (comes home from Temple Square SLC mission in one week) at age 17 sang this song for me I was quite torn. Talented performer and cute but...

Have you already tried a whole bunch of styles. Just buy one of each and try them out, they are pretty reasonable price wise. Also the new stretch cotton garments are on the way for men (I hope). https://store.lds.org/GarmentsChangesView?krypto=%2BKxsmeqNKwflGr2qvdk8InIQ0PIN8PNz4q2PWF7zbfxVAgz8aPUk1mBebg%2B97UH534Eet4fUzosusA856b5UEdWKIILH68fac5rCPZ8IQbXG8pA904zUnyyutwlNaPFNr74XScSN9FHTS5aI2FXWhkrUZ93D5rFTS4NuvIyIQFEMDHrJOIM64NgsGJ5%2FJH%2Fi9Wm1nTygjVlOnt%2Bw14fzSw%3D%3D&ddkey=https%3ASetCurrencyPreference https://www.lds.org/church/news/church-discontinuing-more-garment-styles-to-accommodate-improved-products-fabrics?lang=eng https://store.lds.org/wcsimages/LDSCAS/products/000/FabricFeatureGuide_000.pdf I think I get the 100% cotton rib knit. Im wear size 34 jeans but get 32 in the briefs. Makes them less likely to bunch up. And if all else fails, you can make your own... They are not blessed or any other way magically produced.

I just went on a side tangent and discovered the interesting linguistic composition of the Book of Daniel. (I edited the original post with the details) Makes me wish I had been a biblical scholar in undergrad instead of a jock. It is wonderful that we have Mormon and Moroni as the original editors of the Book of Mormon. It would have been so much more useful if the Bible was similarly edited and we had the editors commentary. Another testament of the veracity of the Book of Mormon! This incident is very similar to the Book of Mormon account of the three Nephite disciples who also survived a fiery furnace in 3 NE 28 (one of my favorite chapters btw) I want the angel to be Jehovah. It is whom I picture in my mind. It could have been an unembodied spirit or a translated personage. But I think that Jehovah would have done this personally. These young men were willing to die for their beliefs this kind of dedication is worthy of a personal visitation of the Savior. The Savior loves us and wants to protect us. Daniel 3:17 If it be so, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and he will deliver us out of thine hand, O king. It also reminds me of the first vision. I think that Jehovah is closer than many of us assume.

From this week's Gospel Doctrine lesson https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nebuchadnezzar_II Nebuchadnezzar is the person speaking here. And he does something amazing. This is the Old Testament and he uses the term Son of God to describe the forth personage that he saw in the fiery furnace. This is the only instance within the Old Testament where we find the term the Son of God. The closest thing I can find is this: So here is the question: 1) Who is in the furnace with Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego? 2) I went to the original Aramaic and it is not a mis-translation. From the WAVE Bible app And new to me, the Book of Daniel is written in 2 languages Hebrew at the beginning and end & Biblical Aramaic from verses 2:4 - 7:28 https://hermeneutics.stackexchange.com/questions/5217/why-is-daniel-chapter-24-728-written-in-aramaic 3) Did Nebuchadnezzar misspeak and really mean to say that it was a personage that seemed to have godlike qualities (he was previously a polytheist as a follower of the Babylonian gods Nabu and Marduk). And in Daniel 3:28 he refers to this personage as an angel. 4) Or from Daniel 3:26 we see that Nebuchadnezzar called Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego servants of the most high God. Perhaps Nebuchadnezzar was inspired by the Holy Ghost and was making a statement of fact. Was the statement a parapraxis?

https://www.josephsmithpapers.org/paper-summary/discourse-10-march-1844-as-reported-by-wilford-woodruff/8 History of the Church, 6:254; from a discourse given by Joseph Smith on Mar. 10, 1844, in Nauvoo, Illinois; reported by Wilford Woodruff. One of my favorites. Because who doesn't like looking for rainbows. So either the physics that cause rainbows to appear will change or more likely we are in for one heck of a worldwide drought. How is your food supply coming?
