Sanderson was a missionary in Korea ‘95-‘97. He has a huge group of employees to assist him with his books. Illustrator's, production, proofreaders, he does podcasts, teaches @ BYU, etc. The fantasy genre attracts all comers. He seems to be trying to be more inclusive. I don’t really like the portions in book that discuss LGBTQ+ acceptance and values. The mental illness and despair I also find unnecessary ancillary material. I read books for the magic, warfare, and heroism. I love reading about main characters that are Christ figures. I know that he gets literally tons of fan mail and he probably gets most of the fan mail from people that are struggling with issues that he explores in his books. He is not one to condemn and his overwhelming message is of hope and overcoming conflict. I don’t mind gay people getting married. Knock yourself out. I don’t support homosexual temple sealings, homosexual relationships cannot produce children. And I am a great proponent of families and children.

I have read many of Sanderson's works. And I'm halfway through listening to Wind and Truth. It hasn't offended me. He writes mostly about people's struggles with conforming to social norms. He has written about characters who are mentally ill, physically handicapped, or parents' disappointments. Yes, some characters are struggling with their feelings of sexual attraction but there are no sex scenes or innuendo.... yet. Renarin Kholin is not only attracted to a male, but a male from another species. Brandon is exploring a huge question about right and wrong and how you know who and what to follow (considering they live in another world without the Holy Ghost, or the Light of Christ). It is a work of fiction. And my daughter did get into his BYU class. He does not need the money.

I could be a comet. Everyone loves a comet. This image clearly displays both tails. The top is from the sun heating the comet and releasing dust and water vapor. The pretty blue one is the ionic tail from the solar wind that ionizes the gas. So pretty yet deadly.

Could be a massive solar flare. Gamma ray burst from a nearby star going supernova. Lots of exciting possibilities!

I disagree wholeheartedly with this statement.

I agree with you in theory. I just don’t like the word culpability. Culpability - Blamable; censurable; involving the breach of a legal duty or the commission of a fault. The term is not necessarily equivalent to “criminal,” for, in present use, and notwithstanding its derivation, it implies that the act or conduct spoken of Is reprehensible or wrong but not that it Involves malice or a guilty purpose. “Culpable” in fact connotes fault rather than guilt. - Black’s Law Dictionary I don’t like to use legal terms to discuss spiritual / biblical concepts. Jesus Christ took stewardship for us and our sins / shortcomings. And we were warned and given informed consent, both in the pre-mortal existence and in the Garden of Eden. I don’t think that Jehovah either committed a fault or breech of duty.

Can you elaborate?

I think that John 5:19 gives insight to this line of thought Then answered Jesus and said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, The Son can do nothing of himself, but what he seeth the Father do: for what things soever he doeth, these also doeth the Son likewise. Heavenly Father didn’t ask Jesus to suffer anything He wasn’t willing to do Himself. Sometimes we are presented the opportunity to do great things. They require dedication and sacrifice. I find it comforting to know that Heavenly Father sent us here for a purpose. That He has faith in us. And that He will offer us opportunities to strengthen ourselves and others.

Im an identical twin. Usually identical twins can donate organs to each other without immunosuppression. There are weird cases of protein markers and some twins are fraternal. They have done skin grafts from Cheetah to Cheetah. They take without problem.

Start doing your genealogy. You gonna find all kinds of interesting skeletons in the closet. Presumably, The genetic code of Adam and Eve were perfect, without mutation. One of the problems with incest is the expression of recessive alleles of genetic mutations. Not an issue. Do some research on genetic bottlenecks. Cheetahs are interesting. We think they had a bottleneck last ice age. Their species is so similar that they have 0.1 -4% of the genetic diversity found in most other species. They can donate and receive organs from each other without fear of rejection.

It's ok to have a favorite chapter. And more power to you if you like a checklist and can make it work. I doubt that God wants us to dig through the Standard Works as you listed above to figure out how to repent. It's not a hidden gem that needs to be uncovered. It's basic. The Holy Ghost will guide us.

Forgiveness is something that mortals do. Remission of sins is done by the Holy Ghost via the power of the Atonement of Jesus Christ. "The ordinance of the sacrament is a holy and repeated invitation to repent sincerely and to be renewed spiritually. The act of partaking of the sacrament, in and of itself, does not remit sins. But as we prepare conscientiously and participate in this holy ordinance with a broken heart and a contrite spirit, then the promise is that we may always have the Spirit of the Lord to be with us. And by the sanctifying power of the Holy Ghost as our constant companion, we can always retain a remission of our sins." Always Retain a Remission of Your Sins, David A. Bednar, April 2016 conference. The Atonement allows Jesus to essentially expunge our sins. Expungement is a legal process that removes or seals criminal records, making them unavailable to the public. If you have a criminal record that gets expunged, and you are applying for a job you can legally state that you have never had a criminal record. Legally, the offense never occurred. Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ will not forget our sins. They know everything. But for all intents and purposes, they will act as if no sin occurred. We will be allowed to enter into the Celestial Kingdom completely clean - if we receive a remission of our sins. I hated the explanation I was given during a youth conference: Sin is like getting blood on a wedding dress. Repentance allows us to send the wedding dress to the best dry cleaner in town and have it cleaned so that no one can tell the difference. That is not true. The atonement essentially gives you a brand-new dress. The commonly recited LDS steps of repentance - do not have any basis in scripture. Recognize your sins Feel sorrow for your sins Forsake your sins Confess your sins Make restitution Forgive others Keep the commandments / Endure to the end Somehow it became a commonly recited process probably because some do-gooder wanted to break it down and make it into a business-type process. Try to find it in the scriptures. It ain't there. You can repent immediately from your sins. You do not need a 12-step process. Sometimes ideas / policy enters into the LDS vernacular / policy due to a misunderstanding or hope to do good. Take for example recycling. Recycling is a good thing right?

https://apple.news/A9XDp0AmPRwegNBFlIDkmUw There is a bunch on $ in NCAA sports today. Football data: The biggest stars, guided by business mentors and school-provided financial advice, have cashed in. As of Aug. 29, On3 ranked Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders as the star of the current NIL market with a whopping $4.7 million valuation, including a sequel to his father's Nike deal. The site estimates that each of the 20 players at the top of its list are worth a minimum of $1 million. And by the same calculation, even the 100th-ranked athlete was worth $583,000. This will obviously bring some excitement to BYU basketball. I’ll be watching.

When reviewing Jesus Christ’s final week. I was amazed at how often Christ would make a statement and the apostles would totally mis-understand him. And, that Jesus would not correct their misassumptions. This is a pattern that occurs throughout the scriptures. Retrospectively, many of the best learned lessons are when we make a mistake, realize the harm caused and then go through the process of repentance and reconciliation. We are not intended to go through this life perfectly. Why would we expect our current Church leadership to act perfectly? Is it OK for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints to make mistakes? Do we have to understand the mind of God in order to follow him? I sure hope not.

Man this happened fast. I’m still trying to get up to speed. Who is in power. How does this affect Israel, Iran, and the USA.

Evidence that the Priesthood ban began with Joseph Smith
mikbone replied to Maverick's topic in LDS Gospel Discussion
We could debate all day and write books, amendments and explanations about the intentions of the author of these words. Or we could believe that the author was inspired to write these words and that this document was intended to last the test of time. I will choose the latter. -

@Maverick I’m a bit confused about your intention. Are you trying to prove that the most recent statement found below is incorrect? https://www.churchofjesuschrist.org/study/manual/gospel-topics-essays/race-and-the-priesthood?lang=eng -
Emotionally, yes!
