  1. I detest the t-shirt my son occasionally wears that says, "I can't I'm Mormon".
  2. You'll want to come back every winter... ... just sayin'.
  3. Take a guess at who Gladys Knight went "Trick or Treating" with one time....
  4. The Old Testament covers the history of the Earth. Exodus and Numbers were written for the peoples of that time, but we can still learn how the Lord dealt with His people anciently. Parts of Isaiah were written for our time and for the very end times. As I said, the Old Testament covers from Adam until the end of the Millennium.
  5. With a degree in Biology, all I can say is.... Interesting podcast. It didn't change my perspective. In Brother Bradshaw's own words, "There is not a single pathway that determines sexuality." "There's not very much evidence for this..." That says it all for me. When one ACTS upon their 'desires' it is a CHOICE. Whatever that desire may be. Hopefully our desires will be to ACT within the bounds the Lord has set. Each of us come from the pre-existence to the Earth with our own little set of blessings and also challenges. Some of us are blessed with great blessings and talents. Some of us are handicapped in one way or another. Some of us will never have the opportunity to be married. Through all of the blessings and challenges and handicaps we are given, we are all given the same thing: "Moral Agency". As we stay withing the bounds the Lord has set we will be blessed. It might be against my nature to be buff and muscular, but I can make choices to take care of my body. I may have a hereditary disease that makes it hard for me to do this or that... I know some who because of their 'genes' have a hard time fasting. I could go on with endless examples. It's all how we use our agency and stay within the bounds the Lord has set as we sojourn during this mortal probation. Our God is a God of miracles. He can even bless us to overcome any natural influence that we were given here as "our challenge". All of us sin. All of us depend upon the Love of Our Lord and his Infinite atonement, but that atonement can only have effect in our personal lives as we REPENT and as we come to know the sweet blessings that flow from strict obedience to His commandments and stay true and faithful to the principles taught and receive the ordinances and the required revelation to save ourselves and our families and return to live with Him again one day. God is Love.
  6. I've seen young men ordained to the "office" of Elder as young as 17, but the handbook suggests age 18 at the earliest.
  7. 2nd Nephi 2:22. Nuff said.
  8. Did I say ANYTHING about the Democrat Party? No, I did not. Are you a LEFT Wingnut?
  9. Folks wouldn't like my thoughts.... they should do a search on what David O. McKay thought about the EVIL unions.
  10. Typical liberal drivel... if you don't agree with me, you are a zombie. Glenn gave LOTS of specifics... obviously, he didn't listen to his speech. Typical liberal as well.
  11. If you listened to the speech and didn't get specifics, then you didn't really listen. It had NOTHING TO DO WITH POLITICS.. it's only the mindless zombies that think that it did! It had NOTHING TO DO WITH OBAMA. Glenn Beck will NOT run for president! (But if he did, I'd vote for him. ) We know who the people were who were creeped out by Captain Moroni too and they weren't followers of God. Captain Moroni WAS POLITICAL and he WAS RELIGIOUS ... you can be both. Beck offers a solution OVER and OVER again... it is: TURN TO GOD!!! Those who have a problem with Beck, obviously have more of problem than being 'creeped".
  12. ????????????????
  13. While the speech is moving over the Internet, the 'spirit' of the speech 'in person was phenomenal. We met a number of good folks on the Metro, traveling from the Marriott in Bethesda to the event. One devout Catholic couple from Philadelphia were a good example of the some 650,000 who attended. She came from Polish decent, her mother was a Nazi concentration camp survivor, he was Cuban and their family were late 50's refugees from Cuba to the United States. Both had become citizens the way folks should become citizens. Both came from backgrounds of oppression and lack of freedom. Her words to all of us were these, "I believe that Glenn Beck was sent from God and that he is literally a "modern day prophet". I smiled. I told them that Glenn Beck would tell you that he is NOT a modern day prophet, but he could tell you where to find one. She looked puzzled. I then told her about the blue book in the night stand back at the Marriott. I quoted verses from Moroni chapter 7 to her. She said, "You sound just like him". I said, no, we simply preach God's word, be it in the New Testament in John or Corinthians or Moroni. It started a great gospel conversation. I can only imagine how many thousands of others felt the same as she did. Many thousands didn't make it to the rally... they were turned away at distant Metro sites because the Metro had become overwhelmed. Lines at 9AM in Virginia were over an hour long just to get onto the Metro. The same was true for the Red line both from Rockville and also in the northeast....otherwise there may have been over a million people there. There were no signs, there was no hate. There was only love, and love of God, love of country and love of Glenn Beck that brought all of us together. Captain Moroni held up the Title of Liberty. Glenn Beck is holding out Faith, Hope and Charity. Glenn taught thousands at the beginning of the rally about the ancestors of the Native Americans who believed in Christ. He taught of Moses. He taught about the blessings of paying tithing. It was truly worth the while to be there and see the FAITH and patriotism of true Americans who want to keep our freedoms and not have them taken away by evil doers and modern day Gadiantons who would tax us and our children because they would spend our birthright. Truly amazing, the hour long speech by Glenn only gives a small bit of the flavor of the event. We met people from all over the country, Minnesota, Alaska, Oregon, California, fellow Arizonans, Texans, folks from Florida, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, Maine, Pennsylvania, Kentucky, Tennessee, Ohio, Indiana, Mass., Connecticut... I imagine folks from all 50 states were there. There was old and young there. There were folks of every race. 8.28 will not soon be forgotten. M
  14. On today's show he talked about how Jefferson and Adams felt that Native Americans came from Jewish ancestry.... pretty interesting. Some folks might not like how he does it, I'm just grateful he's doing it cuz he's the only one doing it on a national stage.
  15. DW is a huge GB fan. She feels like he is a modern day Captain Moroni. We will be there with all of those folks in the heat and humidity. DW thinks there will be a million people there. I'm guessing at least 100,000... a sizable group... How many were there when Dr. King gave his I have a dream speach? Hotels there are filling up fast that weekend. We will be staying at a hotel near the Temple.
  16. Back in the olden days when I served as Bishop, I had a WES that I didn't particularly care for, (I knew that he wasn't the best father and a poor excuse for a husband) but he was the one who the Lord wanted in that position and he served under three different Bishops. I never had to worry if folks would show for a meeting because he called every week to be certain they would be there. Probably not the response you were looking for.
  17. Unless we are born of the water and of the Spirit we cannot enter into heaven. Baptism is being born of the water. RECEIVING the Holy Ghost and having it cleanse you from the top of your head to the bottom of your feet, sanctifying you from sin is the baptism of the spirit or "fire and the Holy Ghost". In the Book of Mormon we read that some of the lamanites had been baptized by fire and "they knew it not". Most often, when we have come to Our Heavenly Father with a truly broken heart and an extremely contrite spirit, giving away all of our sins, THEN we can be cleansed from top to bottom and be sanctified by fire and the Holy Ghost. Unfortunately, there are too few members of the Church that have experienced what I have just written about. ... and it can happen, over and over again, as we worthily partake of the sacrament each Sunday, renewing our sacred covenants with Him. There are also too many who have had this wonderful baptism of fire that don't keep the Spirit of the Lord in their lives. Straight is the gate and narrow is the way and FEW there be that find it.
  18. Knowing I am truly following my Savior. Knowing that my children are following my Savior. Bringing others to a knowledge of our Savior and helping them to follow Him. Spending quality alone time with my wonderful wife. Spending time in the House of the Lord. ... there is more...
  19. Unreciprocated love eventually ends in separation. If ye love me, keep my commandments. Satan's "love" if he ever had any, was a lie. He wanted everybody to be saved, and he wanted to be the reason, just like BO wants everybody to have health care. No difference in my opinion.
  20. How I Learned To Mind My Own Business I was walking past the mental hospital the other day and all the patients were shouting "13... 13... 13". The fence was too high to see over but I saw a little gap in the planks, so I looked through to see what was going on... Somebody poked me in the eye with a stick! Then they all started shouting "14... 14... 14".
  21. Lately the police have been finding dead people in dumpsters in the downtown area. They found it odd that in each case the victims had their mouths, ears and noses stuffed with Rice Krispies. They've determined that it's the work of a cereal killer.
  22. Joseph Fielding Smith was the first one I know of to use the line, "You aren't going to let a cup of coffee keep you from Eternal Life?"... in response to a sister who asked, "God isn't going to keep me out of His kingdom for a little cup of coffee is He?" Gordon B. Hinckley later quoted him. I suppose there are some LDS folks here who simply don't like what some prophets say. We don't limit God, we limit ourselves through disobedience. It was a simple question. A Prophet of God gave a simple answer. First Law of Heaven... Obedience. (period)
  23. Threats? goodness...?????
  24. Doesn't he swear an awful lot?
  25. You wear your Sunday clothes to the temple, and if you are doing Baptisms you need something modest that won't show through when wet, as well as a new change of underwear and probably a towel.
