  1. the reprieve would only be for a moment.
  2. in one aspect yes.... altho if that's not enough, then there are plenty of hostile nations rabidly pursuing nuclear weapons technology, or upping their nuclear defense rhetoric if they already have that tech.
  3. this sort of thing is not new, and has become much more prevalent with the advent of cheap microcameras, it just not often people are caught. As there are more people who identify as homosexual than transgendered, i'd be more worried about voyeurism along those lines. Altho i wonder what the difference in punishment is between voyeurism and being in a wrong bathroom (without good reason) is.
  4. The government is only 1 to 2 generations removed from the one that committed genocide.
  5. I think it's going to take quite a bit more than 9/11 to humble us.
  6. Both have agreat chance of recurring, as both tap into the same hardwired biological reward system... However i think a full repentance will overcome that. Outside the hypothetical, one has achance of STDS, unplanned children, and possibly pissed off former intimate partners... The other is much more sneaky and hard to catch and will seem "harmless".... But will line the path to every concievable perversion in grand finery and soothing voices, and will certainly grease the path from going from a viewer to a doer. And by the time someone finally sees they have a problem, they'll be so far out in the left field in what they feel desires for, that getting back to a point that would be considered normal or righ would be monumental.
  7. Both mess with the brain, habits and vices and etc, both will lead to very dark places if that path is left unchanged... Fully repented of was the impression i got from the OP. I did not assume any more or less of what the OP said.
  8. the question was choosing to marry someone based upon the sins they have committed prior to repentance. It did not include any other situation, from whence to pull a rightious judgement.
  9. really? which state(s)?
  10. o we should have gun owners go through everything a truck owner has to do to be able to legally own and drive a truck on public land?
  11. either one. If they have repented I am not their judge.
  12. either one. If they have repented I am not their judge. as for the rest of why, that's a story for another day.
  13. interesting that would be a decent explanation for some things happening today.
  14. How dare they save $$$ on using less ink/toner. Shame on them.
  15. I wouldn't be surprised. If not before, then certainly after the resurrection, if only to allow those who were in righteous polygamous marriages to continue fulfilling them if nothing else.
  16. A) yes it does stand to reason that Christ suffered more pain from some individuals than others. And it is also reasonable that there was an amount to the pain.... its just that it is beyond anything that we could imagine or experience in this life. And i would say that the more truth there is in something the more valuable it is. i also think there is a sheer value in something if only for historical reasons if nothing else..... But ya you'll see the same themes and characters across almost all the old religions, tweaked and rearranged depending on which culture but still there.
  17. it prevents one from getting more condemnation. Justice would require a penalty for laws already broken. a murderer who did not have covenants to break cannot recieve the condemnation of breaking those covenants, nor can he recieve any of the blessings associated with keeping such laws, merely only the laws that are associated with murder. Whereas someone who has been bound in further covenants will not only have the laws in regards to murder broken but also everything tied to those covenants on top of that.
  18. the meaning of the beard changes from generation to generation.
  19. probably would have been before the tower of babel. or one of the other proto groups that would eventually end up being the foundation of whichever culture.
  20. which is why christ and the atonement and come first in importance.
  21. dang... and ya more excitement will bring more viewers usually.
  22. wow really first time ever?
  23. letting a bishop know that you have a certain skill set and ready to help out in an area that is served by those skills, I don't see anything wrong with at all.
  24. A) Of course. Which provides plenty of ammunition for critics. - And also the reason for why the church is so insistant on people turning to the Holy Spirit. Apostasy happens all the time on small scale. we havent had one to the scale of what happened to the early church (but given enough time it would eventually happen, but the general expectation is that the second coming is going to happen before such apostasy can get to 100%) The holy ghost can speak to anyone he wants to. However for someone who has the gift of the holy ghost, if that person is being true to their covenants (easier said than done) the holy ghost is bound by law to be with them... for someone who does not have that, they have no promise, the holy ghost may or may not speak to them, however if a person is honestly and dilligently seeking God, at some point somewhere along the line they will get some sort of witness from the Spirit.... whether or not they get more after that will depend on what they do with their witness.
  25. I doubt youll be forced.
