  1. God allows man to come to whatever understanding that we are capably of gleaning from all that we can see, hear, test, etc... To paraphrase, to man the numbers of the stars and creation are beyond what we can count, but the ends thereof are known to Him. If something that is important for us in our relationship to god needs fixing God will guide someone to the right path to provide an opportunity for whatever article of knowledge or whatever to be fixed. Otherwise this sort of thing would be something i would tend to categorize under "learning experience" And i'm sure the devil tries to throw in monkeywrenches wherever he can in our progress. Contention misuse and abuse occur in scientific and academic circles often enough, and outside the misapplication and the elevating various principles or thoughts to almost religious status occurs as well.
  2. I would hope that lds are above mobacracy. That and marches more often than not are ineffectual and make one look like a bigoted idiot, and the chances for violence tend to be higher at such events. As with any tool, such as freedom of speech. there are good and bad ways to use it.
  3. The bit about how a person feels is above the state is kinda scary... However for the moment that is an opinion or view and not legalese ( i really hope).
  4. Its very difficult to see grey, a person tends to miss it. sometimes right up to when they are passing thru the solid black. Far too often i hear that grey is white.
  5. Why, because as a culture weve been indoctrinated with the extreme form of what we take in, what we think, what we say, has zero influence on what we do.
  6. Of course it is, if you are seeking judgement on the provided quotes. Sooner or later such will come to a crossroads and make a choice. In general i find it more saddening than any other emotion. Where it gets scary is when it gets mixed up in politics.
  7. Part of honor is keeping your agreements. When you say you will do something you become bound to it, for this is just and honest, and we are learning to become perfect in these aspects even as god is. When god agrees to do something for us based on an agreement we gave him, this is a covenant.
  8. Just a note on the op questions. all of these involve some level of dishonesty, save for maybe the last item on the list, which is more an issue of division or lack of courtesy.
  9. The time ahead seems to be forever away, yet once is here, is lost in a day.
  10. Cleanliness is next to godliness.how you keep your workspace speaks volumes.
  11. Seems to get a decent enough gist of things for me.. Or at least the quoted portion did.
  12. Yes it's wrong. I share some accounts only with those who are living in the same house, and even then its pretty limited. I dont take food or drinks to cinema out of courtesy to other people more than the house rules. Conversely theres a special place in the ninth ring of heck for those who do.
  13. Daaaaaaaaaaaaannnnnnnng. Very nice
  14. Wonder if there is a way to finagle the ruling and precedent set by the court circuit that covers colorado in a suit against a wedding bakery against this.
  15. we had a missionary version of this (depicting the different types of elders) from one of our elders who like to doodle and do cartoony things of that sort for a hobby.
  16. Indeed. I agree being prepared is more important. But on the other hand being able to see the signs and etc.. can help motivate being prepared, and if you are already faithful in doing that, then can also help point you in which directions to prepare youself, at least in regards to temporal matters, or which items to prioritize.
  17. we also do not know how the gifts that were given by th magi were used or saved.
  18. Paul is including everyone- before, during and after. Everyone before the big event will be dead, those who would die during or after go through a transition that is very quick. The only big difference i see is the DC goes into more detail.
  19. yes vaping is harmful. They've found that even steam is harmful, if you give your lungs enough exposure to it. (a study that was done on people who often attended saunas for long periods of time). And no Vaping isn't as harmful as smoking cigarettes (generally speaking)... in the same way that jumping off a 25 foot cliff onto cement isn't as harmful as jumping off a 100 ft cliff onto cement is.
  20. I've seen quite a few supportive memes shared by churchmembers on facebook at the time. Altho I don't constitute my sphere of experience as lots, but when you first come across it can seem like "lots". unfortunately the term lots is rather relative, depending on a person's POV....
  21. if you are following the two said commandments then you will be keeping the 10 commandments because they will fall in place naturally. if you are not keeping the 10 commandments then you will have broken the two said commandments. the 10 commandments are built upon the things of god. the law of moses is a teacher of Godly principles- it's like a way to learning addition and subtraction, where as when christ comes and brings in the new covenant is kind of like when we graduate to multiplication and division. If you eliminate the addition and subtraction you cannot get multiplication and division.
  22. Well said. Be ye prepared... part of that preparation needs to be humility, and in a state so that you can be guided by the spirit. Alternatively with problem 2- said things do need to happen first, however the ability to recognise an important event as part of a prophecy is important. (for instance what if it's the LDS that build a temple in Jerusalem?, how many outside the faith would consider that another's faith temple as being able to fill the technicality of that prophecy? [or something in that manner vice versa])
  23. Amen. Thank you for sharing.
  24. that looks like maybe 1 mouthful, if that.
