  1. on thevother hand ibhave been enjoying about most things trek, xfiles, stargate and sliders. I probably ought to do a Gargoyles run..... Thatbone is still fun to watch even as an adult lol.
  2. Skintimate at the end of first episode and full nudity on the second.. Stopped me there... Wish i remembered your review. It made me sad.
  3. Interesting. Guess one could claim that such schools value dishonesty and deception.
  4. asimov was more conceptual, while he kept up with astronomical science of the day pretty well, he didn't come up with many explanations of the nitty gritty of machines or sci fi physics too much. Why would race or culture who has hyperspacial travel capabilities not have nuclear power? well in a lot of sci fi universes atomic physics tends to be pretty low on the tech totem pole so theoretically it could be to some race like how making obsidian arrowheads is to us in these times.... altho why such a culture would want it beyond for academic historical reasons i can't think of any plausible scenario. You may want to try the novel "A mission of Gravity"
  5. not going to hold my breath on this one. Hope the guy is ok whatever his circumstances are.
  6. ya having a youtube google account and using youtube as the middle man to link to and stufff is probably the best approach
  7. ask your bishop.
  8. if it would be inappropriate for the world to see, your best bet is to not do it (the internet and communication is not private). If ya love each other then there are plenty of things that you can photograph/ setup etc.. that would be fine and still endearing. as of by my post I don't see anything questioning the morality of it at least not directly, rather asking how everyone feels about it. In regards to the morality of such beyond that it's pretty risky I don't know any official stance on it. (and general rule of the thumb if something is risky or close to the line it's probably better to leave it alone).
  9. I was referring to how we choose to entertain ourselves. it may seem our life is long before us but when looking back it has been in the blinking of an eye- this time is a probationary time and while we have been given the freedom to do with it as we will, it is not ours. There will be an accounting for each second, and we will find that our desires, thoughts and actions (And inactions) will condemn us. I keep getting reminded of the talk "Good, better, best" and that was just dealing with things that were good... nevermind neutral. We are commanded to be perfect, anything less than that will be weighed against you. Every choice you make is a reflection of your desires, and what you value most, and when the focus deviates from being centered on being christlike and etc... that is against us. However, very very fortunately, we have christ with us. And through him we can overcome these deviations, and find out where the right balance is, found out where our limitations are, and have the means to come to perfection. As we are all different I expect such limits not to be exactly the same or in the same place for everyone For example using Anatess' example I have no idea at what point "prettying up" becomes vanity nor do i know the motivation behind it, between me and her it's very likely at a different point. For me it would be a only a few minutes worth of time and the motivation would be to be "presentable at work" rather than because we want to be like christ and have been told that part of it is taking care of your body- Is this bad? not in itself- working gets me money, which isn't bad in itself, which then keeps me alive which could be argued as taking care of your body which can be argued is a good thing because that's one of things we are commanded to do.... but when i keep digging further into where this trail goes I find that it ends more on because it satisfies me, than satisfying God- and that is why it won't be a point for me but a condemnation if i don't change it. And this is part of why we are here, is to find our weaknesses, to find out these limits, our focuses and etc..... the big question is what do we do with them once we do find and know them. gotta stop wrtiting for the moment will get back to this later. to 'Gator don't worry about misreading my posts; it's my responsibility to get my understanding, experiences across. Love your posts as well
  10. hehe thanks for sharing and welcome!
  11. Greetings and welcome!
  12. There isn't any religious reason either way- we aren't bound bound to the ordinances of the Mosaic law anymore (we are still bound to what they symbolized or were supposed to teach however). there aren't many health reasons either way either. Probably closest i can think of is getting your ears pierced. If kept it will require a bit more care than otherwise.
  13. Sometimes things in God's church seems crazy. this sentiment is somewhat similar to views i've heard expressed on when boys first recieve the priesthood (usually a concern i've heard from outside the church). Don't know, but it is the stake president, and i'd be surprised if those just above him don't know about it.
  14. the Prydain Chronicles, The Shannara Series by terry Brooks as well as the Magic Kingdom for Sale - Sold! series.
  15. or the jaredites.............
  16. while there have been the occasional bit that has been really interesting caught on film that so far as i've been able to determine wasn't forged as far as i can tell... that's pretty rare. On the other hand the ability to edit a photo combined with how much our brains likes to find faces and figures in things gives it much bigger chance of being false... and that's where i'd put my money. BUT if it gets them to repent and come unto christ... who's to say that God didn't have a hand in it?
  17. More and more i'm finding that once you've taken a side there is no neutral. If the devil can't turn you, then he'll happily settle for neutral.
  18. what you eat will affect you. Whether it's food, sight, sound or etc. The more we like something the more acceptible it becomes, the more acceptible something becomes the more tolerable its friends become as well. If it does not move you towards God or being Godly, then it is moving you away from God.
  19. I love Brin... And if i recall right hes the guy that coined the term meme, and it is interesting how he applies it in his uplift series. Ilove how he does various races and how the races influence each other. for modern sci fi don't forget Timothy Zahn... This guy is up there at the top, not only is he a great story teller but he is squeaky clean too. Best known for being the first guy to expand the star wars universe past the events of Return of the Jedi. ( and introducing one of the best antagonists since darth vader; admiral thrawn). Check out his Conquerer trilogy as well as the Dark Force Rising trilogy, and his COBRA series. And dont let the stuff that hes written that gets the teenage reader classification fool you either such as his Dragonback series.
  20. The scriptures exist to bring us to remembrance of the dealings of our forefathers with God, that we may be made humble and then have the Spirit be with us so that we might also have dealings with God, so that we can attain the covenents that bind us to Him. It matters not to me what humbles a person to the point where they can have the Spirit testify to them of Christ and the restoration of the gospel. However outside of having God's anointed tetify to you directly, the scriptures are the best thing for inviting the Spirit. As for the NDE it is interesting. It may or may not be the case as the person says it is.....I do not know I havent had any revelation on it yet. A lot of elements seem to fit what has been revealed, but i have no way of knowing it. As that person does not have authority over the church what he saw was not meant for me if it was from God, or was a godly experience. But I'll stick it to my list of things to keep an eye out for.
  21. no idea outside of Christ and God who's going to be there exactly... however that bit about having all our deeds being shouted from the rooftops doesn't says t ome at some point its going to be fairly public.
  22. I'm really hoping it will make some waves... unfortunately you are right, and not only with LGBT relations. However good science has been ignored in regards to abortion, so i'm not going to get my hopes too high- between the two issues IMO abortion has more weight, while i really hope this doesn't follow suit, it probably will get put to the wayside in the general public's eyes.
  23. science wise we still have a long long long ways to go to understanding the brain (not that there havent been any good breakthroughs or whatnot), it's development (especially this), and how dna relates to it, all the nittty gritty stuff that it would require (ethics tends to be a dampener in this area)... the science for either side of the argument is not very strong, if i'd have to lay money down it would be on the side that supports heteroattractionism.
