  1. They havent thought long and hard on that. But considering all the cheating going it is awfully tempting.
  2. They did. It was his dog and the company he rescued that they used. He was too airtight regarding his marital fidelity.
  3. Star Trek the Motion picture. The more i think about that one the more ilove that one out ofvthe star trek movies, coming in first place because it is the most star trek out of the lot. With the fourth movie coming in at a close second. I also find it to be one of the more religious nonreligion ones.
  4. Revelations if irecall right has a good description. By the time a group has gotten to the point where they have to destroy others is a pretty good indicator, whether physically, mentally, verbally, or morally that they are not working for christ any more.
  5. hate to stomp on what little faith you have in the constitution but the second amendment has already been screwed over. Has been for a looong time. You get out of the rest of the constitution the same way; convince the masses to intrepret it differently.
  6. Whups wrong nephi. My bad sorry. Correction-an ancient prophet who had left jerusalem.
  7. Ooh ya, forgot corpse bride lol. Also to add, alice in wonderland and mirror mask.
  8. Well there seems to bevthat element or something similar to many of the falling aways thatvhas happened on this earth, so it is certainly not unreasonable.
  9. The bible has the greatest collection of christs sayings and doings in mortality as well as the chronicler of the atonement that are contained in one place. That alone makes it extremely important. A native american prophet saw in vision that the book from the jews that would come across the ocean would have some important parts missing ( recorded in the book of mormon), and that because parts were missing many would stumble ( look at the history of the ancient christian church). Joseph smith pretty much adopted that. Now if that is what you mean by corrupted then yes.... If you mean corrupted as to be so twisted as to be a total or almost total pack of lies, then no thats not what they said. one also has to realize that this is not a simple issue for the bible is not one book, it is a collection of books. That was voted on by a council long after the apostles were dead.... And even then there was still quite a bit of contention over what was scripture and what wasnt ( see history involving the apocrypha)
  10. Most differences are used by antagonists to dig at the church. I do not believe cotrell to be among them. For some people this sortbof stuff is important for whatever reason. For others it fills the pursuit of acedamia.
  11. Indeed. Please, do not pray for that cleansing. I do not wish to deal with nuclear war.
  12. i think that would be a great idea.
  13. to the OP i'm not sure if it has always been age 8. The law of moses had it's own rites that were to prepare the israelites for the greater law, under which we currently operate.
  14. it is and it was. it would have been called something else tho; as baptism is a greek term. it would probably be wise to look at other terms used by the hebrews that involved water. (the washing and anointing rites would be a good one to look at) Further evidence that baptism was practiced before christ's time also comes from all the spinoff religions since the time of adam, in which being dipped under water plays a part in some ritual.
  15. sounds interesting welcome!
  16. welcome and thank you for sharing
  17. inspired as in the Spirit of God was striving hard to get the founders to create something that would be of benefit to mankind. Considering all the miracles that took place around many of the founders I'd say that is a fairly decent conclusion.
  18. hmm mebbe if only the second coming occurs during his presidency lol
  19. I would argue that they are not exactly the same altho there is a ton of overlap. Eternal Life is simply God's life, exaltation refers more to the process which one is enthroned in glory.
  20. when you turn off a light do you create dark or do you remove light?
  21. considering all the anti -lds rhetoric that comes my way every now and then, and with every conference there always seems to be a spate of it.... interestingly this time around it seems the only focus of ire for critics was Elder Hollands talk that had blurb "where will you go, what will you do...." in it. So i don't think this one will come across too harsh. Testimonies that are brought about by the Holy Ghost are generally viewed as the best (as is my view). Seek them first, hold fast and sooner or later, number 1 will fall into place. outwardly this would seem like pure conviction. Both types of testimony have merit but if your testimony is only there because something makes sense, sooner or later you will come across something that is anti-your testimony that will at the time appear to make more sense and you will have a hard time not waivering. It looks like you have a good framework for a talk- the two types of testimony, and as you have a question about them, a motivation to study the differences between the two and also what the speaker was meaning. perhaps focus on how to gain both, and to do so humbly?
  22. too many hotshots in high circles that have dirt hidden on them, and aren't wiling to take the risk of showing dirt, unfortunately.
