whew! so we haven't lost you completely :) good when I read your last post, I pictured you wide eyed in front of a screen, not blinking, and clicking non-stop chanting "oh, look at that, aren't you pretty" oh, with a bit of slobber dribbling with the theme from 'lost in space' playing in the background

I have found that confiding disappointment and seeking comfort can be done in a couple of ways...reaching out to those that the Lord has provided for me...holding to the iron rod when the winds blow and the rains come...and seeking refuge from the world in the temple 1 my hubby, who is a priesthood holder, and presides in my home 2 my home teacher/ visiting teacher 3 I use the scriptures a lot: they help comfort me, give me instruction on how to forgive others/myself and help me to remember that it really could be much worse 4 prayer 5 sometimes prayer in the temple, if it is a big one...It is important to keep an eternal perspective, remembering that this too shall pass, this moment is only the blink of an eye and that I should behave in a way that will help me to prepare to live in God's presence. Also, the temple helps me to feel loved by HF even if I don't feel that from others around me. When I do initiatories especially, the blessings are so numerous how can He not love me? 6 put on the Lord's yoke, and let Him have yours. 7 service, It's really hard to feel sorry for yourself when you are feeding the homeless, double that for the homeless kids

Not sure what to do... literally tearing me apart!!
jayanna replied to Hayky3126's topic in Marriage and Relationship Advice
If you two have a child together, will he let you take him/her to church? I know you might think that this decision doesn't really affect your children, but it will, for generations. You know, I got engaged to a nonmember, and he joined at about the same time that we got married...but he never ever expected me to choose between him and God. I'm sorry, but you can't go back to God because he needs to feel 'loved'? Really? Would he still love you if you were chaste? If not, then does he really love you or what you do for him? I would suggest getting your own place, and date. Don't go back to his place, or back to your place and hang out alone...go somewhere with people and lots of lighting so you won't be so tempted. See if he loves you for your personality, see if you are good friends, see what he thinks about you practicing your religion once he is fully informed. You know, it's called the 'plan of happiness' for a reason. Let me assurel you, getting married in the temple, whatever you have to do to get there...worth it. Bliss. Seeing your little ones all dressed in white and being brought into the sealing room to be sealed to you...beyond any joy comparable to anything on this earth. -
well, I gues we won't be hearing from slamjet for a while!

41And devils also came out of many, crying out, and saying, Thou art Christ the Son of God. And he rebuking them suffered them not to speak: for they knew that he was Christ. Luke 4:41 Do those devils who came out of people, and confessed that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, get to have a place in heaven? no Why? works. What comes out of you shows what kind of tree you are. Good trees bear good fruit. If you have faith and are truly given over to Christ, you will exhibit good works, you can't help it. If you truly have given over your life to Christ, He will tell you to do good things and you will listen.

Hello friends!
jayanna replied to Inquistive's topic in Learn about The Church of Jesus Christ Of Latter-day Saints
Well, I would just like to point out that when you talk about Christians you are talking about us. We are the Church of Jesus Christ He directs it, literally, so no we would not be interested in forming another church. “All scripture(the bible) is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness” The (the bible) that you added in...is something you added in That scripture describes perfectly the reason we need the Book of Mormon. And yes, we study the Bible. Daily. And, dude, you are supposed to shine a light, not point a finger.... Like Loudmouth says, take this elsewhere. -
Of COURSE you're not going to hell.. Keep up the good work!!! Now where did I put my pitchfork?

Congrats Funkenheimer! I bet she was like

Sending a package to a "dry Mormon". What should I include?
jayanna replied to lizzy16's topic in General Discussion
Living in an area where we don't get the cultural side to being LDS, our kids are really jazzed about getting little things like those scripture stickers you can put on the pages, or those t-shirts that people tend to make fun of...there are extremely few LDS teens around here so they are actually a good conversation starter. A CTR ring is a good idea...pictures...a toy BOM figure (my kids got such a kick out of that!) A box of lime jello mix, invite some friends over, and voila, a church activity! Yeah, going to the LDS bookstore was like Harry Potter going into Honeydukes for the first time. My kids were like, "whoa, come look at THIS guys!" "Mom, they got a wheat grinder in a book store!" and "WOW! Captain Moroni was HUGE!" -
No, you are not cheating, you are an auditory learner. My daughter is one, too. We had struggled for so long for her to pass her accelerated reading tests, they are all written. You read a book, you take a test. She was flunking them all. How could this happen? we thought. Until one day I was at work (in my library) and was looking at the children's section, thinking about her, and DING! audio books. (where is that facepalm picture when I need it?) I got her a book on audio and a hard copy. She listens, she reads along to fulfill the assignment, and yes she gets 100's all the time. Auditory learner. Awesome.

The “Middle Way” and “Stay LDS”: Is this OK?
jayanna replied to The_Phoenix's topic in General Discussion
It really isn't a good idea to sit in church looking around and deciding who is 'lukewarm'. Just when you think someone is lukewarm you find out they are dealing with a challenge much more difficult than any you have ever faced. We have some real doozies in my ward, they are so strong, and they come to church and do not brag or put on any pride about what they have overcome. For some of them just the struggle to get to church one day a week is monumental. I hope that if it gets to that point for me someday, that someone won't sit in judgement and decided I'm lukewarm, but rather ask if they can help, or even just smile and say they are glad I'm there. -
Oh, I just remembered...in the local paper there was an article run about the coming Sacrament meeting...we are getting a new building soon, so we are advertising a bit more right now...the Stake church PR person called my hubby to get details about the Sunday meeting, and she told us it would be in the paper. I was planning to get a copy to show his mom, and invite her to come, etc. the headline called us the LSD church with my hubby's name as the minister I decided not to show his mom.

There was a moment that this reminds me of. There was an enormous tornado near here several years ago. The church members turned out in droves to help with cleanup and supplying storm victims, etc. The local radio station said "We would especially like to thank two groups for their ovewhelming support, the Latter-Day Saints and the Mormons." roll of the eyes Well, what can I say, people kept asking, "What church are you with" Members would answer with the two different names. Though, I think the radio station should've checked up on that before airing it.

In addressing an inquiry about different levels of heaven, we can refer in the King James version of the Bible to Paul's writings describing this... in his 1st letter to the Corinthians Ch. 15 he wrote ":41 There is one glory of the sun, and another glory of the moon, and another glory of the stars: for one star differeth from another star in glory." again he wrote in 2 Corinthians 12:2 "I knew a man in Christ above fourteen years ago, (whether in the body, I cannot tell; or whether out of the body, I cannot tell: God knoweth;) such an one caught up to the third heaven." So from this third heaven we know, so far in our current study, that there are 4 places we can go after death: 1. hell 2. the first heaven 3. the second heaven and 4. the third heaven But wait there is something else described in the N. T.- a judgement day described in several places, but let us look in Rev. 20:12 where it says "And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works." Where did these dead come from? "13And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works." and also described in Luke 23: 42 a thief was hung on a cross next to Jesus' cross "And he said unto Jesus, Lord, remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom. 43And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, To day shalt thou be with me in paradise." But three days later Jesus told Mary in John 20: 17 "Jesus saith unto her, Touch me not; for I am not yet ascended to my Father: but go to my brethren, and say unto them, I ascend unto my Father, and your Father; and to my God, and your God." Do you suppose that Jesus lied to either of them? Of course He didn't, he was perfect and without sin, so how can both be true? There is only one answer: Paradise and Heaven are not the same place! Paradise (where the dead reside) and hell (where more dead reside) are places we can go while we await judgement day. So we can come to the conclusion that on judgement day everyone will be judged at the same time And thus we can know that when we die we can either go to 1 hell where we are separated from the presence of our Savior 2 paradise where we can be with the Savior then later there is judgement day and then we go to one of four places: hell, the first heaven, the second heaven or the third heaven, each having a different degree of glory : the sun, the moon, and the stars and yes, I have many mainstream protestant friends that believe this very doctrine, as well as the doctrine of Christ being Gods son, and separate from His Father.

So in Mark 16:19 it says that Christ ascends after teaching and sits on the right hand of God...how can God sit next to himself? Stephen also saw God and Jesus as two separate beings...in Acts Ch. 7 v. 55 and 56 the Father and the Son are one like my husband and I are one...one in purpose, one in goals, but two distinct individuals that can be in different places at the same time completing our goals. The God that we worship eats and drinks, as found in Exodus 24: 10 and 11. Moses also told the people of God at that time that someday they would be scattered throughout the world and would worship gods that would "neither see, nor hear, nor eat, nor smell." Deut. 4:28 It's not the best idea to try to tell a us members of the Church of Jesus Christ what we believe. Tell us what you believe, show us what you believe, and give us the same opportunity.

fellow youngwomen/friend cousin died. Comfort mourning ?
jayanna replied to lizzy16's topic in Advice Board
I think you've already done it. Don't bring it up unless she does. If she does bring it up, let her know that her cousin is someone she will see again in the future. She can perform her baptism in the temple someday. Give her something to look forward to. -
uummmm probably pleased because you were getting your patriarchal blessing? pleased that you are seeking?

lol Wow that is so funny I really miss having a baby in the house. Who needs cable when you have one of them around? or two isn't that right slamjet?

In addition to the revelation given to the chosen (by God) Prophet, revelation is given to the Apostles confirming the call, and each member of the church is given the gift of the Holy Ghost when they are baptized and confirmed. When sustaining our church leaders, we can pray about whether the Lord has chosen that Prophet, and we expect and answer. When I first began investigating the church I loved the apostles, but wasn't feeling very certain about the whole prophet thing. I prayed about it and read in the N.T. about how to tell a true prophet from a false one...first of all it occured to me that we were told how to tell because there would be both true and false ones...second it said to judge them by their fruits. I decided to check out the things that he had taught, then I prayed about it, really wanting to know the answer, and I got one. The true prophet works tirelessly, travels just like in the scriptures, and guides us to be better, organizing us so that we can help each other, he does not live in a palace, or wear fancy jewelry, and he has a wife and kids, just like Moses, Abraham, and Peter. It is true, the first communication to Joseph Smith was by God himself, not a messenger. It was when he was 14 years old. He went out into the woods near his home, seaking some quiet, he had a small home and a big family, so he decided to pray in the quiet of the woods. Here is a link to a record of the first vision of Joseph Smith Joseph Smith—History 1Â* Not sure how I made my link look so weird, but it works, so oh well. If you would like to get to know about the current Prophet, you can go on Lds.org and look up talks he has given by typing in his name Thomas S. Monson. Also coming up the first weekend of April we have general conference. It is televised on the BYU channel, and on the internet. It is both Sat. and Sun. You can watch them speak live, several general authorities of the church as well as the prophet, and have a look for yourself the kind of things they say. I wish you well on your journey.

Well now you know that you have to get permission to switch wards and have your records moved with you. Permission from your Stake Pres. and First Pres. And I'm pretty sure the 'why' behind your wanting to switch wards will not bode well when presented to them. It is not just a logistics matter, it is a matter of spiritual growth for you, for your wife, and for that HP. You cannot get a temple recommend to be sealed to your wife without attending sacrament meeting. So you have to ask yourself, do you love her more than you hate him? You don't have to force her, and you won't have to, stop all communication with that man, look for reasons to attend your ward. If you don't get permission to switch, find some friends, do your home teaching and get to know those lives that you have stewardship to care for.

Well, I know many have cried wolf before, but it is true that the moon is really close right now. If you have a chance go outside and get a look, tonight or tomorrow night it is supposed to be bigger than it has been for decades, and it does have a pull on the earth, so I wonder.... But I'm not gonna worry too much, there is nothing I can do about it now. Though I also find it weird that we have been getting earthquakes and we are smack in the middle of the continent. Nowhere is safe, that's for sure. I've just gotta stand in holy places.

Spirituality is communication with God, or a motivation to have communication Religion aims that in a specific direction, gives it organization Great things can be accomplished by organizing a large group of spiritually inspired people. Religion gets things done while spirituality is the 'why' we do it in the first place.

The bishop will ask if your family can help. It's okay if they can't. There really is no guideline of when to talk to him, however, you don't want to wait too long, especially if there are cut off notices involved. Many of your bills can be helped with, and definitely food. Really it is much better to go sooner than later.
