You might have to click it to make it readable. Let the groans commence.

Yaaaaaay!

Probably has to do with them committing 49% of the homicides and 54% of the robberies. One would think that's a pretty easy cause effect relationship to see.
-
Your facts just confirmed the claim... When you read that, keep in mind the group we have in mind make up about 13% of the population, so if our focus group was committing crimes at the same rate as other groups, they should come out to around 13%.
-
So yeah, when a group that comprises 13% of the population commits 52% of the murders, we have a problem that needs to be looked at. Perhaps it's poverty, perhaps it's subculture, likely it's a mixture with some odd ingredients thrown in to boot, but I doubt the problem is mass racism.

The Giver, it was one of my favorite childhood books. My recollection of the book is spotty but it seemed the movie deviated a bit from it. However I have to say I thought it was a good adaptation of the book, certainly got the feelers feeling. Man, I nearly cried when Jonas learns what's going to happen to Gabe even though I already new.

If you were not LDS what religion would you be?
jerome1232 replied to omegaseamaster75's topic in General Discussion
FWIW I understand protestant faiths believe Catholicism drifted from truth and that they represent a return to what is taught in the bible. -
Perhaps, but lack of LDS representation isn't the root of the problem, the problem is the bias against the LDS faith, intentially hiring LDS teachers in lieu of more qualified evqngelical teachers will only serve to increase tensions.

Ham vort, honey glazed spiral cut ham. Way better than turkey. Cranberry sauce, ham, pumpkin pie and candied yams. mmmmmmmm. We will be eating at our in-laws with just a few family members. Hopefully my mom is coming to it. Our family has never done the big gather the family thing on thanksgiving for some reason, we all just celebrate in our tiny fists of close family.

The heck!? Am I missing something? This was a standard jury that decided this right? 12 regular ladies and gents got to see a bunch of evidence and all reached the same conclusion but somehow justice was egregiously robbed? I.Just.Don't.Get.It

I usually *use* asterisks for emphasis.

Am I the only one worried about someone wanting to know how to bold and emote? :evilbanana:

You forgot verse 3 Clear back to 1902 I believe, is when it [WoW] was first made a temple requirement, but exemptions were liberally granted. Line by line, precept upon precept. By now I'm frankly surprised any liberties are still granted. We've moved pretty solidly into coffee and tea just aren't drank by Mormons territory now. Revelation regarding the Word of Wisdom has changed since it was penned into scripture iggy.

*remembers why his windows partition is getting dusty from disuse* I suspect bitdefender throws that warning because avast is rather advert heavy from what I hear. For many, including me, that's just unacceptable. I don't personally run an a/v suite... you can throw large grains of salt my way if you wish.
-
Oh come on TFP, I think we all know regardless of a bishop giving you a piece of paper, you are either worthy of the temple or you are not, slips of paper do not determine that, God does. Just musing... Who does that come down on in the end? Bill got his slip from the bishop, he truly thought he was good to go. I think this is partly on the Bishop, partly on Bill despite his ignorance. I have heard of exceptions being made but was under the impression this was the stuff of 2 generations removed from me (that would be my grandparents, they are old ).

Crypro hit on something important. Keep backups of your files. Far more important that any security suite, is the peace of mind in knowing you will only be set back as far as your last backup. In regards to security software, I'm partial to bitdefender. I've used their live CD to scan badly infected computers of friends and family.

I honestly thought your username was about all races of man being the same (homogeneous, the same, homo the evolutionary class we belong to) -
Perhaps you could get caffeine tablets that you can drop into an herbal tea?

Have you read "The Holy Temple" by Boyd K. Packer? I personally love the book. I agree with others, discuss your concerns with the Bishop, fast, pray and study on it. It seems you have already came to a conclusion on your own, I think it is unfortunate that you have rushed to it. If you believe that Thomas S. Monson is a prophet, how do you reconcile that with your feelings towards temple worship? Read some of his talks regarding the temple. I suspect that what is throwing you, is the highly ritualistic nature of the temple and how it contrasts to our Sunday worship. I personally think that although the temple experience is a much more complex ritual than baptism, the sacrament, and priesthood blessings (did I miss anything?) all of them are equally as "weird" if you pull them out and examine them. Saying a scripted prayer and dunking someone in water then telling them they've been reborn? Saying a scripted prayer, eating bread that represents flesh, drinking water that represents blood? Dribbling oil on someones head and saying a quasi-scripted prayer? All of those things are highly symbolic, the difference is, I suspect, that the symbolism of baptism, sacrament, and priesthood blessings is well explained and culturally normalized, the temple ceremony we are left to interpret the symbolism, so it's not all as clear. I hope you give this all serious thought and prayer, I hope you are brave enough to counsel with your bishop, and your parents. Best of luck to you on your journey.

I would love to see the youtube video of a literal demonstration of how far you trust the USA medical system. Just to make sure I have the right idea in my head.

Personally I consider the book fine, but I recall Vin being the child of a prostitute, talk of whores, rape, some of the violence is also pretty bad. I'm actually rereading Mistborn right now, It's one of my favorite series.
-
I'm seconding The Dark is Rising and The Giver. I'm not sure The Giver or Mistborn (great series) would fit into "squeaky clean" categories though.
