In my BoM the first I highlighted was Nephi 2 9:30, it always spoke to me, and still remains my favourite passage.
-
On the contrary, I have learned a lot.
-
How do you not obey religion though?
-
How big is your ward?
-
Well you do, you obey the church and its leaders- a religion.

Yeah some get a little much, I said those I knew, I don't speak for the GLBT community (if I did I'd have a hat and a cape or something lol). I mean how would Christians feel if they were treated that way? Would they not act? -

I am just going by what is said, they didn't have equality for a long time (eg being able to marry the same gender) and no they've not always had it, beyond the marriage thing. More on topic, I have never heard revenge being brought up. -

out of all the GLBT people I have known-and know, revenge never comes up, its about simple equality. They simply wanting every right and freedom and protection from slander and what not, that everyone else has. Freedom to marry, to live, that sort of stuff. -
Its about me wanting to hear your answer, your own. I ask people these things to hear their opinion and ideas. It's how I feel I learn the best.

Then what makes you so sure about Christ existing and Baal not existing?
-
What makes a deity not exist? Because one group killed most of its practisioners? Once upon a time thousands upon thousands prayed to Zeus, what suddenly made him not exist? Everything people felt he did for them- what did they think of that? If I pray to Ishtar and she "answers" my prayers is that proof enough that she exists? I am generally curious about that sort of thing, at what point does a God exist or not exist.

Jesus actually has a lot in common with a lot of other Gods http://listverse.com/2009/04/13/10-christ-like-figures-who-pre-date-jesus/ interestingly another idea about Jesus is that he went to the far east during the years of his life not in the bible, and learned many eastern ideas and melded them into his teachings.

I disagree, one can have values without religion. One can have morality without it and one can be a good person while having no faith in something bigger. -

No of course not, but putting their religion in their decisions to govern the people is not a good thing. -

neither type is a religious thing, really. It can be but it's not always. -

I'm just saying how it is here, not what I believe. I am asking why religion should rule and influence, in a society with a seperation of church and state. -

Yeah here same sex marriage is legal everywhere, for those who don't know. Also Canada is far less religious then the US. While belief in God isn't going down, the belief in religion is (23% is none). I think my father's belief is pretty common- he believes in God but thinks church is corrupt and a waste of time. It would seem we don't want religion effecting anything since there are so many here-and so many nones. I for one am glad for that, if I choose a religion-free life, I don't want it in my government regardless, we are a multi cultural nation, why should one rule over all the others?! Why should any rule at all? They shouldn't. -
But what about when it comes to obeying orginized religion, something Jesus didn't do. One never has to actually step into a church to beleive in God and accept Jesus into their heart (and all that stuff).

I wonder if I will get this novel finished and partially rewritten by the end of June. I wrote the thing in a month, so finishing it shouldn't be a huge issue.

Back in my athiest days if i was baptized I'd have seen it just a literal dunking in water. I made promices to nothing so it wouldn't matter if I didn't keep them. Who was gonna care?! I certainly wouldn't have... As I said though, I went down a similar mindset road, though a few differences the similarities are there. Though I have added onto all my wonderings the often strong dislike of church and people lol I still don't have many more idea of things then I did late last fall, so I just keep pondering and what not. Who knows where the river will carry me.

Well technically they're on topic because they're the most luxury-item I own but I understand (still think any Temple in the world could find a use for magnets though)

Why would you be lying to a God you didn't believe in? That'd be like saying "I am so upset I lied to Odin" The sad realization that you either believe or you don't, if you can't be convinced you pretty much have to move on. I wanted to be a part of it too but for many reasons I decided to forgo baptism when they suggested as I felt it was a wrong choice.

They form the basis of many of my grand tales. Though some of my dolls are humans so in theory they would have religions or could have them, like any human being. But not the Faeries or the Siv's.
