  1. An alternate store in a chain wouldn't want to accept the cost of the damaged good since it would be reported that it happened to them. Loss of local profits when it wasn't their fault etc... I'm not sure about AT&T stores but many types of stores are franchises, which wouldn't be protected from the loss by the corporation.
  2. The requirements are online: http://www.meritbadge.org/wiki/index.php/Bear_Cub_Scout In case people are scared about wiki sites I would just like to point out the citations: The official source for the information shown in this article or section is: Bear Handbook, 2003 Edition (BSA Supply No. 33451) The text of these requirements is locked and can only be edited by an administrator.
  3. Going along with the above post, my first thought was "What exactly do you define as happiness" Are you talking about dopamine and serotonin level in the brain? I'm sure you will find plenty of people who find or think that: excitement peace fun control etc... is happiness. As a raw emotional state? Happiness is an emotion, Joy is a state of being. Happiness can be independent of needs, and my experience is those who have the most gratitude tend to see things the most positively which reflects into positive moods. There are certainly many other factors.
  4. I'm not quite sure at what you are asking for. Maybe you could clarify your frustrations? The Church has a handbook guide and resources for how the young men's program can be run in conjunction with Boy Scouting. https://www.lds.org/callings/aaronic-priesthood/leader-resources/scouting?lang=eng You will always find people with dissonance with how things are done, or what others choose to do. If an outside activity uplifts and teaches it is good, if It brings down and makes one captive it is not. Sometimes certain aspects of a program are more appropriate for some than others.
  5. If all else fails, many device screens can be replace from about $50 -$100+
  6. My parent were sealed in the temple before getting married by law. It is possible to do. (Not all countries are alike, but it's worth asking for) I would recommend not worrying too much that others may judge you as being sinful. Appearances are temporary, Covenants eternal.
  7. I think the Xbox version was actually written in C++ or C. Not that it's been compiled or adjusted for compatibility on PC/Linux/Mac
  8. I think it may, or may not have meaning. It depends on if you think this is one way in which heavenly father might try and tell you something. I'm fine with drinking energy drinks every now and then. Drinking it daily or in massive amounts, even if caffeine + other additives are relatively safe there are studies that indicate over time they can still have an effect on our health.
  9. Along the lines of what makes a man, there are some fairly well defined characteristic differences. Such as natural muscle mass, bone density, hormonal differences, and even different brain areas light up to different stimulus. Theses physical difference, and hormonal differences are a factor in inherent behaviors between the genders. Some behaviour is societal, such as some expected gender roles, and some seem very much defined physically and spiritually.
  10. Personally I think the issue that bugs me isn't race, it's the use of force. Police should be better trained to de-escalate rather than command obedience, which can cause issues with already agitated individuals, and When using force avoid shooting in a lethal manner. What happened in one of the shootings, after watching the youtube video of what happened, is justifiable under law. (I haven't checked the specific states laws though. But at least where I am it is considered justifiable.) The suspect in a threatening manner approaches police, allegedly with a small knife. He was also yelling at them to shoot him. Was it smart to shoot him in that circumstance? Probably not. I support the right of police to their own personal safety. I also think these situations can be improved Related article to similar circumstance: http://www.washingtonpost.com/news/storyline/wp/2014/08/22/first-person-salinas-couldve-been-ferguson-heres-why-it-wasnt/
  11. I can't seem to find the fourm rules anywhere? Is there a link, or a sticky somewhere that links to them? also the privacy policy link at the bottom doesn't seem to link to a privacy policy... Thanks for the help!
  12. The great thing about the atonement is that you don't have to worry about being perfect, so don't sweat it. (That doesn't mean we don't try ) Just try your best, keep moving forward and trust in Christ. Maybe you would appreciate listening to this: http://www.mormonchannel.org/gospel-solutions-for-families/087?cid=social_20140814_29704256 There have been plenty times in my life when I have felt the need for help from my heavenly father, and my prayers seem to not be answered. Sometimes the answer is, now is not the time, you will grow better for this struggle, I have already given you guidance...etc I've heard this from others many times before, but it's not until I experienced it myself that it has become real to me. I can promise you that your prayers will be answered.
  13. Hey! I think trying to make the world a better place, and trying to improve of yourselves is a great way to go about life. Getting stuck on checking off things on a list I feel would make living impossibly hard, and take away from the spirit of it all. It's good to hear ideas though! I've found personally, extreme cynicism, and anger, to cause my own life to be down trodden. I try and avoid it as well. I'm not too fond of church services myself, but It is effective at helping me keep in mind good principals to live by.
  14. You can worship a completely non-intelligent[as in the state of having intelligence] abstract concept such as goodness, but the question is: Will that do you any good? Being good and using it as a code for living is a bit different than worship. Goodness isn't deity.
  15. How do you live the Gospel in your daily lives? Read the scriptures, pray, service etc... But really from family life, to your community, to repentance, how do you put these things into practice? What are some of the specifics you do? How does this make the lives around you better? Does it change your life? When and how do these things help you become converted unto Christ? When did you feel it yourself? Do you ever feel that sometimes you lose a sense of perspective and balance and need to reorient yourselves? We each have life's roads to travel and I think sharing a bits of wisdom from our travels would be an uplifting thing. Right now I'm not sure how I put these things into practice, and I think I could particularly do better in my family life and repentance. In the community, taking part in community service is great! From helping with events, parades, festivals, fund raising for schools, serving on school boards, musical performances, volunteering for scouting events, gasp! jury duty. I personally love these types of things, and the connections I form. One of the more recent things I have done was volunteer at a scout camp for a day. It was an absolute joy, of course it was also hard work. I think the common goals shared and then the hard work helps bring people together in a way that wouldn't happen otherwise. There is value in both sides I think, having fun in an event and bringing an event to others! What do you think?
  16. 4 And now, verily I say unto you concerning the laws of the land, it is my will that my people should observe to do all things whatsoever I command them. I think the first step to consider in the chapter is 98:4 Which would be seeking after a temple marriage. The rest is justified, not optimal. 7 And as pertaining to law of man, whatsoever is more or less than this, cometh of evil.
  17. When I went through high school each teacher wanted a different formatting style it seemed. Chicago, APA, MLA, MLA version 2000, 19xx etc... So sometimes it is still hard to figure out what to do since not everyone keeps up with the most recent standard. I have a feeling the two spaces thing started because of typography and the printing press. Similar to putting the period to end a sentence inside the parentheses or quote marks.
  18. It was the same when I went to Seminary, so long as you show up you pass. (regardless of how much effort, or that you learn) Needless to say I failed ...I still have trouble with early mornings...My fault of course .
  19. You are loved more than you can imagine by your heavenly father. Any past abuse is NOT your fault and doesn't make you any less clean, virtuous, and good. Talk with someone about this that you feel you can trust (parents, leaders, teachers). It will help relieve some of the stress and it is great to have some friendly emotional support. For depression, and anxiety attacks i'd recommend specifically trying to see a doctor, or psychiatrist. Maybe the bishop can help with that through LDS family services. If you truly feel prompted to get a blessing from your friends father, Try it! :-) The lord works in mysterious ways, but one thing I know is that if you feel prompted by the spirit to do something it is generally a good idea. If it makes you feel safer you can have the blessing at church if you would like, it seems like a natural opportunity to ask for one! (Also there are plenty of priesthood holders readily available to help)
  20. It would seem to me to be a mixture of virtue ethics and Deontology. By following the Law one can be be of good moral character, In outward appearance at least. Following the law doesn't a change of heart make. As james12 said.
