  1. I'd probably not recommend lounging in garments. It would seem in better taste to not treat them as casual. But no judgments on those who don't, it's probably not too big a deal, I think at least. Might want to consider how your children perceive your garments if they are lounge clothes rather than sacred. (If you have children.)
  2. Buy an external hardisk, or flash drive and store a copy of any files you wish to preserve. Then to your great relief you won't have to worry about losing your files. If you don't like AVG and you want something free Windows Security essentials is also free. There is also Avast. If you have some money Bitdefender will do a good job. Most of the popular brands you can buy will be nearly equivalent and functional. If you can, use windows 7 or 8. The construction of the operating system is inherently more secure and less prone to get a nasty cold... or deathly illness. I would suggest learning more about computers, if you have a fear breaking something, or something happening to it.
  3. My advice would like PolarVortex, Brief walk in the cold. Jerome1232 Also had a good idea, and adding a caffeine pill, to an herbal tea that you like. The way you state this makes it sound like an addiction.
  4. Maybe we should be quick to remember the words of the lord. Don't be asking for something bigger, more complex, when you've been told to go wash in the river and be healed. You get peace and the warning of your wrongs before the great and terrible day of the lord. Just because you don't think you are suffering now, or think that God is silent, doesn't mean that you won't suffer and that he won't speak at some point. Sometimes it's wisest to let go of something that we may think is good, for something better. Just a few thoughts. (not communicated very eloquently mind you, but it's what came to mind.)
  5. I am sorry for your loss. Look forward to the bright and beautiful future that one day will come, when you are reunited again.
  6. PolarVortex hit the nail on the head!
  7. Causing death is often see as a human rights issue. Whether justified or not.
  8. ooooooooOOOhh. This is interesting. Lookie Looky what I found!

  9. Since this thread has recently touched on your search for truth 2ndRateMind. What I would recommend, as a latter day saint, is that you read the Book of Mormon, and pray asking in faith if #1 It is true and #2 if God would have you join our church. This is probably the most common and foundational way we start building our faith, and testimonies. (There are others, but less common) I believe investigation about our, and others beliefs are very important to do likewise, but that a spiritual investment, and investigation is also important. This may include visiting various church services, speaking with members (I'd also recommend missionaries from our church), Fasting, Prayer, and Reading and studying Scripture. (I don't know if you have been doing this already, and I suspect you may have already heard this, so I apologize if this is sounding like a broken record.) In the Book of Mormon, 3 Nephi, describes a time of great strife, and then with the visit of the Savior to the America's the development of a society where: This seems like the Chapter for you! There may be disagreement by individuals as to whether society should have all things in common, but it is very much a part of our scripture that it is something we should aspire to obtain. Having all things in common doesn't necessarily mean a redistribution of money, or wealth. My personal view is that sharing of our possessions, time, and talents will fulfill the law of consecration. All that I have would be yours, all that you have would be mine. As I need so doth I receive, As you need so doth you partake. There are alternative views to this, such as pooling resources and then redistributing etc... Tithing, and fast offerings(bishops storehouses) to support the poor and needy. In this way your views are very similar to ours. The disagreement seems to start when we try and figure out how this is to work when #1 Not everyone wants to live like this. #2 Some people want to live it, but only partially. #3 Physical constraints in geographical area. #4 How should it be put into practice. #5 Doing it in such a way that causes improvement for all over time, rather than a temporary improvement. #6 Dealing with corruption. #7 We no longer live in an agrarian society, New level of difficulty obtained. Resistance to your ideas stems from the fact that some people if given, will not contribute. Over time these people seem to increase which would cause such a system to fail. Reality beckons to our fallen state and all that we have to deal with.
  10. Oct, Nov, Dec Best time of the year. Particularly Thanksgiving and Christmas. Food and Family!
  11. There is the possibility of delayed advancement if the scout doesn't pass the scoutmasters conference or board of review. That is very rare though, and generally only happens when there is suspect of cheating requirements or problematic behavior. Of which there would be a dialog on how to proceed. Scouting is supposed to help boys grow. If that isn't happening because of corrupt adults then transfer to another troop. Your boy can and should still participate in the young mens activities, but need not attend scouting activities since you found a troop else where due to these problems.
  12. Your seminary classes must have been a whole lot more interesting than mine!
  13. I like Panera, it is a satisfying meal for a lunch. Not much food though, and most sandwiches don't taste as good after sitting. I haven't heard about TOFM before.
  14. The district executive will likely talk with the troop leadership directly. Some times it helps...A lot actually, i've seen it done before. I would always recommend talking to the church leadership first since it is the charter organization. (Just my opinion though)
  15. If it isn't time sensitive, and has not been too long patience with gentle reminders might work best. That doesn't sound like the case though. There are also sometimes problems with awards if the troop wasn't registered. If this turns out to be the case you will need to speak to bishop, stake, and council. Bishop and stake to solve registration, council to find a way to properly get a boy an award if he worked on it.
  16. On the scouting side of things: Before speaking to the council you should speak to the unit committee. (Assuming there is one -_-' ) If there isn't a unit committe speak with the COR (Charter Organization Representative) before petitioning the council. If the scout troop is registered there must be a COR. (It might be the bishop, young mens president, etc...). You will want to talk with your local scouting district's, district executive from the council. I personally would try petitioning, in this order for the redress of issues, Scout master, then young mens president, advancememt chair (part of unit committe, not all troops have an advancement chair), committe head, bishop, then stake, then council.
  17. Aren't kisses supposed to be something special between people in a relationship? (not referring to on the hand or cheek)
  18. Others agency to affect you does not make a change in your ability to choose how to react or what choices you will make. Until mind control technology exists our will is our own. Unless the world is deterministic, which would mean free will is an illusion. I don't think free will in an illusion. I don't believe people are slaves to circumstance. They have the ability rise above all things placed before them (maybe with a few physical limitations, since the world is fallen). Whether they will or not is a different question. I'm not sure we are communicating on the same wavelength Traveler, or maybe we are?
  19. Something more or less like this.
  20. I agree partially with you at least If people are staving the wrong signal is being sent. (i'd love to discuss more, but I've got things to do now) Have a Good Evening or Day! :)
  21. Your excess is not preventing the increase of wealth, in this case the increase in food wealth. The way economics works is not as a 0 point sum, at point 0 in time it might be a finite amount as you assert, however the moment you or anyone else choose any action it is no longer at point 0. Thus your point 0 is a moving target. Trade does not happen unless both parties perceive a benefit or increase. So taking your position for a moment that at any point in time wealth is finite, your transaction still does not decrease the wealth of another individual. Limiting your wealth to increase another's wealth is a logical flaw. Limiting your wealth for moral reasons is a different story. The question is what is preventing the increase in food wealth when their is obviously enough food wealth to provide for all. Distribution of wealth is a zero-point sum at any fixed period of time. However what I would personally assert is that this is not what is the cause of such poverty, but politics, human nature, greed, compulsion, jealousy, pride, and the desire of some to be above others is the cause.
  22. Why would anyone choose to go through deterministic life circumstances that would get them relegated to a lesser kingdom? That simply seem unjust to me. Unless the end result of any path of choices would be to the celestial glory. Which seems very un-doctrinal, and much more like Satans plan. While Determinism and Fatalism to me sound exactly like Satans plan. The only other possibility that I can think of would be that free agency and Gods ability to foresee all things are not mutually exclusive. (Basically what seminarysnoozer said) If things were thus I would directly ask God before being sent to earth, will I make it? Will my other brothers and sisters have the chance to make it? and if not it sounds like a terrible deal. It would mean that you have already been judged, the scales weighed in balance and sorry, you get to suffer. (or hopefully not) Sorry, I have strong emotions on this type of topic If I stick around I'll have to watch myself.
  23. I have read a study where women's brains release of prolactin at the peak of aforementioned topic is higher. [i find this skipping around the topic ridiculous, is this really necessary? I guess it helps provide a buffer against worse topics] Prolactin was used as an indicator of satiation, and the interpretation of such is that the act is actually more satisfying in the end for women then men. In the study done, hormonal indicators of satisfaction were higher among couples than individuals. What you are saying about oxytocin seems to make a lot of sense.
  24. I'm not a fan of fatalism nor determinism. It seems to completely negate agency. Even if somethings are predetermined, or foreordained, it still takes the individuals agency to follow that path. A part to act, and part to be acted upon.
  25. I have heard the idea of progression in or perhaps through each kingdom (outer darkness is not a kingdom) goes back to JS, BY, and the early Q 12. There is probably sources for this, However it is almost certainly their personal speculations. Much like we still like to speculate +1 Sources anyone?
