  1. Or maybe Movement 39: Romans 10:18; Psalm 19:4 Their sound is gone out into all lands, and their words unto the ends of the world.
  2. Movement 37: Psalm 68:11 The Lord gave the word; great was the company of the preachers. That part? https://www.thetabernaclechoir.org/messiah/libretto-with-scripture-links.html
  3. Here https://emp.byui.edu/ANDERSONR/itc/Book _of_Mormon/11_mormon/mormon_01wagonloads_by.htm and a more scholarly version here from the Journal of BOok of Mormon Studies https://scholarsarchive.byu.edu/cgi/viewcontent.cgi?article=1360&context=jbms
  4. i recall once hearing or reading that Brigham Young said there were wagon loads of records in Cumorah but I don't remember the source, and I don't think I've ever heard or ready anything similar from anyone else.
  5. And this might be another part of the reason - perhaps that dog has spent too much time in counselling.
  6. Perhaps that would explain why it was so difficult trying to drive the neighbours dog the other day?
  7. I'm interested. I've never participated in a book club of any sort before and from a selfish point of view, I can certainly see some benefits for me in participating in a club which includes @Vortand @zil2as members.
  8. Yes, but the crocodiles here could do with a bit of a snack and that's a much better option than being fed to the sharks or visiting the gators in Florida.
  9. Im guessing that something that is a gift of the Spirit would take less time to develop and improve than something that is merely a talent or an attribute, and a talent or attribute would take less time to improve than something that we have no talent for, but are forced to practice by a parent who wants us to have/develop that attribute,
  10. No need to wait two weeks @pam, I could probably squeeze you in some time before then. As long as you bring lots of yummy gingerbread alligators.
  11. I was thinking that the role of Mediator, or Messiah, only became necessary when the Plan of Salvation was settled and agreed upon. Since the plan existed before the role, and if the plan was made by God, it would then follow that God existed prior to the Meditator and that there could be a God without a Christ.
  12. Yes, that sounds like the same story. I'm thinking that it was not actually a worm, more likely a babel fish that got lost.
  13. 2nd Nephi 11:7 7 For if there be ano Christ there be no God; and if there be no God we are not, for there could have been no bcreation. But there is a God, and che is Christ, and he cometh in the fulness of his own time. If this verse is true, what do you think might be some of the possible implications? I've worded this in a deliberately vague manner so as to attract a larger number of responses.
  14. Next time you Change of emphasis. This was just a friendly reminder to all my 3H friends to be a bit more careful in their dietary habits. I've heard that there are some people here who mistake kimchi for food so if that's the case, well, you know.......
  15. So we can rule out parasitic infection as a possible explanation?
  16. Next time you feel inclined to consume snake faeces, remember to check for any hidden extras It was a fairly regular day on the ward for Canberra hospital infectious diseases physician Dr Sanjaya Senanayake, until a neurosurgeon colleague called him and said: “you wouldn’t believe what I just found in this lady’s brain – and it’s alive and wriggling.” The neurosurgeon, Dr Hari Priya Bandi, had pulled an 8cm-long parasitic roundworm from her patient, prompting her to call on Senanayake and other hospital colleagues for advice about what to do next. ........................................ The doctors and scientists involved in her case hypothesise that a python may have shed the parasite via its faeces into the grass. They believe the patient was probably infected with the parasite from touching the native grass and transferring the eggs to food or kitchen utensils, or after eating the greens https://www.theguardian.com/australia-news/2023/aug/28/live-worm-living-womans-brain-australia-depression-forgetfulness
  17. This is a fairly accurate description of the tide going out.Not a disagreement, just a comment.
  18. Many years ago I spent some time teaching in a boys Catholic boarding school on a small island off the coast of Papua New Guinea. This was an extremely remote area with the school generator being the only source of power on the island, and it only ran for a few hours a day. My wife one day noticed some students wearing pants with bloody areas around the crotch. When we made some inquiries we learned that it was not uncommon for students around the ages of 14 - 16 to go out into the bush by themselves and circumcise themselves, sometimes with a machete, and sometimes with a pocket knife. They might stay out in the bush for a day or two until the bleeding stopped and they felt ready to return. None of the other staff, both the locals and the four white Catholic Brothers who ran the school seemed interested in or disturbed by the practice.
  19. 5 For I, the Lord, have decreed in mine anger many destructions upon the waters; yea, and especially upon these waters. Surely the release of that which God has cursed as a source of destruction would only have caused more destruction? 😁
  20. Just a reminder 13 And he fastened on his head-plate, and his abreastplate, and his shields, and girded on his armor about his loins; and he took the pole, which had on the end thereof his rent coat, (and he called it the btitle of liberty) and he cbowed himself to the earth, and he prayed mightily unto his God for the blessings of liberty to rest upon his brethren, so long as there should a band of dChristians remain to possess the land— 14 For thus were all the true believers of Christ, who belonged to the church of God, called by those who did not belong to the church. Several decades before the coming of Christ
  21. ummm, I think Moroni actually forgot to mention that bit. Actually, I've made an assumption for which there is no foundation. I'd assumed that the Jaredite plates were part of, or contained within, the gold plates, but I now understand that that is not the case.
  22. 4 Therefore I do not write those things which transpired from the adays of Adam until that time; but they are had upon the plates; and whoso findeth them, the same will have power that he may get the full account. This verse is at the start of Moroni’s abridgment of the Jaredite record. In this verse, Moroni is explaining why he chooses to not give a full account of the Jaredite record. Part of his reason is his believe that some of the content of the Jaredite plates is had among the Jews, so presumably he doesn’t feel the need to repeat that information in his abridgement. And then he makes the above statement which I take to mean that Moroni is saying that whoso ever will find the plates will have power to get the full account. My understanding is that Joseph Smith found the plates where Moroni told him they would be, but that a part of them was sealed and he had no power to translate the sealed portion. Does that mean that what Moroni said in verse 4 was not accurate?
  23. This discussion raises questions for me about the need for, or purpose of resurrection. Surely given how wicked and resistant to truth those in outer darkness will be, there is reson to suppose that we would all be better off if they were left unresurrected. Why allow the continuation of evil when it could be discontinued? But we are taught that all will be resurrected, even those who will end up in outer darkness. If there is a choice between to resurrect or not to resurrect, God has made a choice that these totally evil beings will be resurrected. From the fairly limited vantage point we have at present, its hard to see how their resurrection is something that will benefit the rest of us. If there is no such choice, and these evil beings are resurrected bcause God has no choice, ie, it's something He "has to do" do (maybe in order to remain consistent with some sort of universal law to which even God is subject, such as the law of justice) then that would be an intereting little insight into how this version of the Plan of Salvation has been shaped by laws to which God is subject. rather than being shaped entirely by His own ideas and preferences.
  24. From Doctrine and Covenants 34:9 and the stars shall refuse their shining, Increasing amounts of light pollution over major cities has caused some stars to no longer be visible to the unaided eye from those locations. Could the non-visibility of these stars to the unaided eye constitute a fulfilment of this prophecy?
