I am happy somewhat with the outcome but overall it's not the win we hoped for. First off the very fact that they had to decide this case should scare every single American that believes in the Bill of Rights. Then take into the fact that the final vote was 5-4 really is troubling. However in the ruling, the majority made clear that it is ok to put limits on firearms and limits on the ability to care them. The made too many references to home defense when it is about our defense in general (in particular from the govt) no matter where we are. So while outright bans might be harder to get now, heavy regulation will be just dandy and I expect to see a lot of those. While some regulation is fine IMO, any regulation which gets in the way of the right to keep AND bear arms is unconstitutional.

Actually I am kind of glad that person does not want to reproduce. I wish more people like that would not, would certainly make the world a better place.

Did the American Government really lie?
JcDean78 replied to hethathathears's topic in Current Events
Is that the best you got to defend a group of people who openly seek to Destroy the work of Christ? People who support the murder of children? People who want to take away our free agency and enslave us? People who work to Destroy the United States? They work for these things because they know that we can never be taken by force from another nation, only from within can we be Destroyed. They work towards their goal night and day while our Republic now sits on the brink of electing one of their own that will do more damage to our Republic than we can possibly imagin. Bush has many faults but he has kept us safe and put the terrorist on the run. And for that our nation and the world will forver be in his debt. -

The Gadiantons are the Democrats. Its painfully obvious. The Bush legacy I can sum up real easy. There has not been a terrorist attack on the US since 911. We know they have tried, we know they want to, but our Govt has done an amazing job preventing that. Globally the Terrorist are on the run, their leadership and organization is broken. Thier money is gone. We are winning this thing and it is thanks to Bush. I despise a lot of things Bush has done from No Child Left behind to the Amnesty crap... but we must give respect where it is due and on the single most important issue facing our Republic, Bush has done a heck of a job. -
Totally agree. Even a bluff of making that order alone would show the world we mean business and would drop oil prices overnight even if nothing actually happened.
-
Drill, build, refine, de-regulate, and anything else that needs to be done. The idea that somehow increasing taxes on the oil companies solves anything is absurd and I fail to see the politicians can continue to push for that with a straight face and so many people buy into that garbage. A first grader taking basic econ could explain why that is like cutting off your nose to spit your face. Talk about FAILED policy of the past! Bush should simply make an executive order to go out and get the supply. No time like now to start, even if it takes 10 years to really have an impact. The order to go get the oil alone would be enough to send prices down down overnight.

I am not sure of the real family name but they go by Danielson here in the states. They come from regular Samoa. According to them, they are also related to the Rock. Small world! My wife was devistated when she found that out too because she always had a crush on him. I joke with her that it only makes her fit in that much more here in Tennessee by having a crush on her cousin. My wife could tell you a lot more than I can, I will try and get her to post more information on the family, we might all be much closer related than we realize. Again welcome to the boards! :)

Well that is the same thing IMO. They are forcing their morals on us which violates our freedoms as well. You are right, they take it away because the masses willingly give them away. There was a great quote recently by one of the judges in the Heller trial. He said this... Assuming you can never lose your freedom is a mistake a free people get to make only once. - Judge Alex Kozinski

Talofa! I must ask since you used Talofa, but are you Samoan? My wifes family is and I was under the impression that its a Samoan greeting but perhaps it is spread across Polynesia and too Hawaii as well. Welcome to the site!

Fascism is not limited to Nazi Germany. In fact it is alive and well today. Most of the policies by both US political parties are heavily rooted in Fascism. Over the years the meaning however has been changed and adopted to be in sync with Nazism. Facism was just the system of Govt they used which closly resembles communism and socialism. Now here is the thing though, I support a free society even if those things we are free to do are bad for us. In Church we are given our free agency for a reason. It does not mean that any decision we make is a good decision but rather we are free to make bad decisions or good decisions and then one day be judged. When we start making laws to force our morals on people or take away that free agency then we not only are violating that persons freedom but we are taking away that agency. The only expection I see to this rule is when that freedom violates the freedom of others. In situations such as Murder/Abortion, Stealing, physical abuse, etc. That is the only time the govt should step in and make things illegal, all else should be fair game.

It is our trials that make us stronger and based on how we handle them, they make us who we are. When I go through a particulary hard trial I remind myself that we are asked to "Endure to the End", pray, and give it my best even if I seem to fail. We are not defined by the trials we go through but rather how we pick ourselves up and move forward through them.

If they spray paint "Die Mormon" then that is a threat and totally different. It does not matter if it says "Die Joe you ugly person" or "Die you cause I dont like you", its all the same. A motive has its place in estblishing a with murder if it was intended or not. The factors of motive already come into play now and we do not need any more laws to try and look into peoples minds and protect one "group" of people over another group. So if a KKK member kills a person of color then is that worse than if they killed a fellow clansman? Murder is murder, assault is assault. If you commit a crime against another person... its a crime already!

Yes as of late there has been a lot more discussion of our faith but thats not a bad thing. Attacks against others be them LDS, Muslim, Gay, or anything else people are afraid of will always happen. John though is correct that Hate Crime laws are immoral. Killing is already against the law (unless its your baby then apparently thats ok). We need to focus on the evidence and not the feelings... but thats the eternal struggle between liberals and conservatives. Feelings vs facts.

Yes, the DNC has historically and currently disciminates against minorities yet continue to get their support. -
I worry not about these things. I continue to do the things I am supposed to do on a daily basis and whenever the time comes I will be ready.

Thats putting it nice compared to what the man really did and tried to do. The man was the WORST president of the USA ever and has done untold damage to our Republic and it continues to this day. In fact many of the largest issues we face today are products of the FDR Presidency. I guess that would be for another topic though. As for the snub, I really do not know a lot about that... there were a lot bigger issues going on in those days than FDR snubbing an athlete. -
Best recent movie I have seen is Game Plan with the Rock. We really enjoyed the movie and its a wonderful family film. Next most recent was a pleasant surprise with Bee Movie which was just far above my expectations as I figured it would be just ok. Not a movie but a TV show we have gotten hooked on is Corner Gas. Its really funny and other than the one guys dad that calls everyone a Donkey, the show is rather clean. Not seen Juno but heard mixed reviews on it. I am Legend was a total let down to me. Each to their own I guess, but it was not something I enjoyed. We tend to enjoy more light hearted and/or uplifting stories like the last movie Smith was in with Pursuit of Happiness.

Fed Expert: How to Fix the Food Crisis Now
JcDean78 replied to Hemidakota's topic in General Discussion
On the money. Ethonol is killing us. We need more drilling, more refining, and nuke energy. Even if we turned out and did that today, it would be 5-6 years before we would be able to see the impact and by then things will be much worse. -
Joe McCarthy was proved correct. The people he went after were PROVED to be spies. The man was a Patriot and got nothing but a vicious smear campaign against him by the liberal traitors of the day far worse than the lies about what he did.

Red Wine was considered good for your heart if drank in moderation. Now we have studies that say Red Wine does not help and can in fact hurt. Which do we believe? Our knowledge of Medicine changes so often of whats good and bad for us that its hard to keep up. Through all of it the Gospel has been rock steady for us with the message of Heavenly Father. Also I always hear and see a lot of posts saying "go to your bishop" when any issue comes up but really I personally disagree with that unless it is something that requires official paper work, confessions, or ordanances. The Temple divorce would be a great example. I believe when we rely too much on a Bishop to guide us, that we take away a big part of why we are given the Holy Ghost and our opportunity to overcome our challenges. We essentually pass off the process to somebody else who is not as connected to what we are dealing with as we are. The Bishop is not the Prophet. Now I am not saying that people should not go to the Bishop when they need help but rather that they should not lean on them for ALL their problems.

The govt has no right to put a gun to anybodys head and force them to pay for anyone else. Not only is that immoral but it goes against the very core of a free society. I will die before I allow the Federal Govt to repeal our Constitution and make us slaves. Besides Moore is kind of like Pinocchio except instead of his nose growing with every lie, he just seems to get fatter and more obnoxious.

Part of the family as being with us on trips, family gatherings, hangs with us when we watch TV or plays with the kids. When long distance family calls or emails, they not only ask about the humans in the house but also the dog as well. The dog obviously has many rules and is well trained so its not like he has free reign of the house and sleeps in a crate at night. But he is loved and part of our group. Since I work from home, he is never left alone for more than a couple hours tops.
