  1. And remember JAG Japan had no N O oil, not even to this day, I believe. But clearly the war was inevitable. Roosevelt knew that. Others at the time did not want to get involved, but I think it was inevitable. There were even those in Japan that thought it a great mistake to carry out the Pearl Harbor attack. But how can you account for Hitler turning east. You can't. It just makes no sense, other than to confirm his insanity. The entire NAZI regime was rife with homosexuals, criminals, etc. Some people think the facts are myth, and the myth is fact. I'm still learning and I graduated with Distinction from a college, a big kids school, the study school, more than 40 years ago. But with the internet the conspiracy theorists are always better educated than anyone. dc
  2. And that would be a person of the opposite sex that you should be marrying. dc
  3. So who watched the funeral services and what did they think? As some of you know, Elder Packer had previously stated that a funeral should have gospel preaching and not talk all about the deceased. And that, if at his funeral, they talked about him, he would get up and correct them. Well, he didn't rise from the dead to object. But what do you think. dc
  4. Actually, it was well known that war was inevitable. FDR did not "get" the USA involved. The Japanese were on a world conquest. As were the Germans. They both believed there was a master race, destined to rule the entire world. They just couldn't agree who it was. The Japanese said they were the master race, and the Germans said they were the master race. Their agreement was to divide the world down the Mississippi river, German to rule all the world to the east, and Japan all the world to the west. Japan, at the time of the Pearl Harbor attack was conquering and fighting and enslaving much of the Pacific rim. Hitler had asked the Japanese to wait on their attack. I don't recall why they jumped the gun, but they did. The US sanctions against Japan were as a result of their various military endeavors being carried out at the time. They were attacking everybody. It was just a question as to where the USA fell on their hit list. dc
  5. I like the idea that God makes a Bishop. And God doesn't make anyone homosexual. They make that themselves. No, they are not born that way. No one is born homo or heterosexual. You learn it and grow into it and develop it. It's just that we now live in a perverse society. I think the scriptural quote mentions, must be married. Sounds good to me. To me the Bishop must talk the talk, but also, importantly, walk the walk. That means live the family lifestyle. He must be a good example. Of what to be. Not of what not to be. He has to be a man of good character. And live the character. dc
  6. I have noticed the same thing but certainly not only with LDS people. But with everyone. All people. And as to nanny, no one thinks they should pay much of anything for that, yet are not their children the most valuable possession they have? Yet that is where they want to be the cheapest. dc
  7. I think it's clear you have every reason in the world to not join the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Therefore ... why even consider it? dc
  8. blueskye I am definitely not n o t looking at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints for the first time. In fact, I have been looking at the church for over 50 years. I also notice your posts seem to have changed to show less bitterness. dc
  9. I'd probably feel scared. Around here, the city might do it for you, or the homeowners association, and then sedt you the bill. For $800.00. dc
  10. Bury me in Utah, please. dc
  11. They did tell me to wear white, custom, tradition or mandatory, I don't know. They also specified the white t shirt but not the brand name, so I suppose you would be ok even if it wasn't Hanes. However, I am not a person of the female persuasion, so what applied to me might not apply to you. In baptism for the dead, I wear white under the white jumpsuit. dc
  12. I watched the video of the funeral. Very inspiring talk about the gospel, etc. Just like he would have liked it to be, I think. dc
  13. Ah, I tell you, SG, life is tough, isn't it. It's a tough life. I think the thing about the church and the gospel that I like is that it is NOT cool. It is traditional, eternal, and historic (as from 1830) on the church. It is unchanging. It is not the latest fad, the latest "political correctness" for this week, nor the 'newest thing'. Yes, I'm one of those people who goes around being "not cool" but there are those that admire me and I like myself. dc
  14. Hey, what happened to all those Catholic Church activities you posted about? Doesn't the church offer you anything to do other than 1 hour for mass on Sunday? Or is the church closed for the summer. dc
  15. I don't intent to say anything bad about any other church and that includes the Catholic Church. I just didn't find all these "other activities" there, only one hour of church on Sunday, but I in essence left the church nearly 50 years ago in my late teens and never went back. Other than 3 masses in those 50 years. And I saw no change. Tho' I do have to say I think the Pope spoke total garbage about gun manufacturers recently, assuredly so in that he is protected 24/7 by guards armed with guns and it's believed the church is heavily invested in the oldest gun manufacturer in the world (500 years). I certainly don't understand someone who leaves the LDS church and becomes so poisoned of mind to come back and obsessively, post after post, post misconceptions about LDS church and people. How can anyone make themselves so bitter. Well, needlessly so. dc
  16. Well, I could have said homosexual agenda. But in truth that would not be fair to the lgbtq a and whatever other miscellaneous abominations are thrown in there. Which, since I don't know, and don't want to know, may or may not include any or all of the other more "horrifying" abominations. I think the real point is, is there a right and wrong any more? And are we allowed to believe it, or not. I guess what is being said here is, well, you said ball park, and in the ball park there are some light hitters, and some heavy hitters, and you (me) must say so, because you say so. Well, they are all still in the ball park, and on the field and playing, aren't they? Without regard to whether or not I use "politically correct" terms or accurate terms. And part of their game is to turn the churches into their little sin bin. dc
  17. On another forum a great argument ensued about what should be said at a funeral. For me, my funeral, I just want the gospel preached. Like Elder Packer said. That's the only message I want to leave, just the gospel. And inspired words like Elder Packers address in April. Of course they start work on their talk early. That's why when they give the talk it's in it's best form. I think the thought comes from inspiration, but they have to put it into words. dc
  18. I don't know what the point is here. What we are trying to get going. With my limited experience, I see good teachers, very good teachers. And the best. The old guys. Going to southern Utah, these old men have been going over these lessons for years, longer than many have been alive. And they teach from the heart, the memory, but they also have someone read parts of the lesson. It was really the same in both college and law school. My favorites were the old guys. The older the better. In the church, it's all review for almost everyone except the newest. But review from a year or two or three ago. So it's always taking a new look at old ideas. Last Sunday the missionaries, young guys got stuck teaching gospel principles. They were excellent. In depth knowledge and all fresh in their minds. And professionally presented. It may be all different for RS. I have no idea what goes on over there. I had heard we are not SUPPOSED to know what goes on over there. dc
  19. And they do their part also. You know, you don't use drugs, you don't use alcohol, and you don't smoke cigarettes, and that makes you start thinking about other ways to live healthy, and you end up surprised how much longer you live. dc
  20. See a bankruptcy Attorney that is licensed for the Bankruptcy Court in your jurisdiction (area) and that regularly practices bankruptcy. They can straighten you out on that. As to worthiness, I suppose it all depends. Did you just run up a bunch of debts due to some vice or sin? Such as gambling, drug use, or what not? Or did you have an accident or injury, or job loss that caused this catastrophic problem in your finances or budget. Are you a shop-a-holic, did you spend above and beyond your means for non essential things, frivolous things? You have to take your own financial and emotional or moral inventory to find that out. And correct the situation and learn from it. dc
  21. Well, I thought I'd just tune in here to see if it was ever revealed what the Latin ability was to be used for, if anything. Why don't you just use Google Translate or one of probably 100 other translators available free online? Everything is one computer today, you know. You just plug your book in one end, and out the other end comes your book ... in English, or any other language. dc
  22. Well. Good advice. He's losing feelings. He doesn't know if he loves you. He's getting involved with a married woman. He's fighting with you. He's crying and emotional and depressed. Doesn't sound normal to me. dc
  23. Ok I haven't read the whole thread, 86 pages, but I would like to say I have not seen any of the films you mentioned. There used to be decent filmmakers in Hollywood. Frank Capra comes to mind. But that was long ago. Many years ago a great purge began in Hollywood and anyone not following the agenda was run out of town. I suppose there are a few that have come up lately but I don't know them. I don't see any big studio big name films. They are almost always slanted, pc propaganda, left wing propaganda, pro homo, anti American, anti Christian, etc ad infinitum, ad nauseum. In recent years, now some years ago I saw an Israeli film, USHPIZIN. The trailer on it is still out there. That probably showed in 2 theaters in the entire USA. The other was The Concert. Not a big studio big name film, but a Russian made obscure little film that again showed in no more than 2 US theaters. Which featured the Tchaikovsky Violin Concerto in D, Op 35, which is just now playing on the radio, and thus comes to mind. dc
  24. It shouldn't be pitted against religious liberty, but it appears that's what the pervert agenda is. Accept the pervert agenda, or loose your religious liberty. dc
  25. The only news I have is no news. They had a special meeting for ym/yw today to read the letter and "discuss" it. And next week will be the same for adults. I really don't see any need to "discuss" the matter. The letter sets out the official position of the church. I know I will never approve of, nor "celebrate" perversion, sin, abomination, no matter how trendy or 'latest fad' or "modern" anybody wants to call it. And it matters not how many people jump on the popular bandwagon and say I should, nor if the Buffoon in Chief says I should. And I full well know that no one is "born that way". We all learn how to be men and women, unless we choose perversion. We were babies before we learned. I wouldn't wish homosexuality on my worst enemy. dc
