  1. I would study instead. God helps those that help themselves.
  2. Death is not sleep, Your spirit leaves the body and goes to the Spirit world to await the resurrection, eventually you will be resurrected with a perfect body, not the same old body.
  3. From another post on another board about tithing Tithing…A Different Take. - Mormon Apologetics & Discussion Board
  4. I agree, you are not an independant contractor, an independant contrator can not be forced to sign a no complete clause - so it wouldn't hold up in court. Having said that, if you want this job, don't make waves. Frankly, I'd find another job and turn them into the IRS as you are right, they are doing this to avoid paying employement taxes
  5. I've not had any of mine last less than 6 years, how is that not quality? Have you tried buying regular underwear lately, you''ll pay MUCH more than $3 for some that may last 1 or 2 years.
  6. Yes and you find lost keys faster alsoThe Supreme Ruler in the Universe has nothing better to do with his time than to preform miracles like preventing flats and finding keys
  7. Theres a number of different fibers you can choose from already. Special orders are for special sizes only
  8. Yes, its true, they will ask for a number of measurements and the order takes about 6 weeks.
  9. Did I miss something here? serving inthe army for 4 years means he's at least 22 and she's 19 - thats 3 years difference. My wife and I have a 6 year difference. 19 is not that young to get maried, especially in the LDS culture and she didn't say she was going to marry him tomorrow.
  10. There are many wonderful people who never served a mission. over half the Church are converts and a great many of them were adults when they joined that never had the opportunity to go on a mission. Many young people in High School get lost for a while and don't goLove, respect, honor, attitude, morality are much more important qualities than serving a mission is. I know a number of RM's I wouldn't want anywhere near my daughter. Serving a mission is not the 'be all and end all' that many parents think it is. Ask yourself 2 questions: Is this the person I want to help raise my children? (this question has many sub questions to it like: do they have the same values I do, will they be the example I want my children to have, etc) and Is this a person I want to spend eternity with? If you can honestly answer yes to those 2 question then go for it.
  11. nevermind - just not worth it.
  12. You start with the premise that there are no false prophesies in the Bible and then you make up reasons to support your premise -- sciptoral gymnastics, perhaps that should be a new olympic event. BTW you do realize that the Bible is a collection of seperate books all written by different people (yes, a few did write multiple books) and then compiled together in about the 4th Century AD, don't you? Perhaps you should try only reading the words that are actually printed in the Bible.
  13. Ok, John answer this one question then: Why did Jonah get angry at God?
  14. No offence meant, but saying "you believe this" or "you don't believe that" is based on your interpretation of what you believe scripture means. I'm with Rameumputon and believe what scriputure actually says. I do notice that my challange for some people to actually read Jonah has not been taken up yet -- too bad -- its only about a 10 - 15 minute read and very clear about the false prophesey and Jonahs reaction to it.
  15. The Church as a whole receives thousands of Revelations daily. However I assume you mean doctrinal revelations binding on the entire Church. Not sure, but if we need it we will get it. I think most of us are just trying to follow what we already have.
  16. So after 50+ posts what have we learned? That Facebook has a lot of fans that plan to continue to use it and it also has some people who don't plan on using it. I didn't see one persons mind get changed from what their belief started from. My one (rhetorical) question for those who claim to have hundreds of "friends" is this: How many of those "friends" could you borrow money from if you were broke?
  17. As the Ward Exec Sec that has to assign speakers, this sounds great to me!
  18. Sorry Hordak, as a convert that has taken the challange I must disagree with you.My mind was not made up in advance, I asked God if it was true or not While the possibilty was there that it may have been, the possiblilitythat it was a scam was there also (and in fact was my first thought)
  19. They are very expensive compared to many other schools
  20. You are an adult, if you have a testimony of Jesus Christ and His Church then it comes down to the question, whom do you want to upset, your mother? or God?
  21. If that were the case, then why would Jonah have gotten mad at God for not destroying Ninevah - wouldn't make a bit of sense would it? No offense but I think y'all need to actually read the scripture before commenting on it.
  22. <<shaking head>> There are none so blind as those who will not see. John, I read the words that are there and don't do the mental gymnastics to make scripture fit my preconceived notions Sorry John, but any more conversation about Scripture and Prophets with you are probably worthless as we have tottally different views on Scripture. I wish you well.
  23. We're saying your "test" is not correct and the Bible is not without error
  24. John -- still waiting for you to read Jonah
  25. I'm not picking on any one person here but for the most part, nobody cares about your pictures except you and possibly your mother. Somebody sends me pics and I will glance at them once just before I hit delete.
