Perhaps, but I think a more likely explanation is that the Lamanites intermarried and were more successful in joining with the inhabitants

The Nephites would have been less likely to intermarry with them, and  less..."flexible" with adapting their customs.

A few years ago (don't have the reference now), archaeologists found that a certain group of inhabitants buried their dead within the village for thousands of years.  But approximately 300-400BCE that practice suddenly stopped and the burial s were then far outside the village.  I felt this was possibly under the influence of the Nephites, based on the Hebrew custom of respecting the graves from defilement

I seem to remember that this discovery was in Costa Rica.

cdowis got a reaction from Average Joe in Priest Asks One Question to the Pope
Papal condemnations of capitalism that also give godless communism a free pass from criticism are a sin, a prominent Cuban-American religious leader said this week.

“Why do you and other religion leaders condemn capitalism so strongly, and offer us a list of all the disasters that result from it on earth, but we never see an equally strong condemnation of atheist communism, which continues to cause the world so much harm?” Rev. Alberto Cutié, a former Catholic priest who is now an Episcopal priest, wrote in a column in the Miami Herald.

“Is it really more important to have diplomatic relations with a country that has not had free elections in 50 years, that abuses its people, that has a well-documented history of oppressing and robbing the Church–than to seek justice, the common good and freedom for all Cubans?” he asked Pope Francis, who met recently with Raul Castro and other Cuban leaders.

“I don’t understand–and don’t think I will ever begin to understand–why a man of God can meet with oppressors, but not the oppressed,” Rev. Cutie concluded.

Joseph Smith was in Carthage jail for treason

    RESPONSE
FACT CHECK -- He was arrested for the Nauvoo Expositor incident. He then posted bail, but before being released, the indictment was changed to treason because bail was not allowed on a charge of treason.

Clearly the Nauvoo Expositor destruction had nothing to do with treason. It was used only to keep him in jail long enough for the mob to do their work.

If you mean, is it necessary to have a perfect knowledge of this before we die in order to be saved? Then, no.
If you mean, is having a perfect knowledge of this a part of our salvation?  Then, yes. Celestial beings will eventually learn all of this.  It is part of their salvation.  "It is impossible for a man to be saved in ignorance." (D&C 131:6)
We just need to be wise enough to know that some questions need placed in the "learn later" pile.  The later could be in this life or the next.  We need to be content with that.  My experience has been that the mysteries of God that we do learn in this life often lead to additional questions we hadn't thought of previously.  It seems there's always more to learn, which I love.

Here is a recent Boy Scout story.

Our ward is collecting canned food for the different pantries in the area for the poor.  They went to the local grocery store, in their scout uniforms, and collected food donations.  They received TEN cartloads.

I believe that their Scout uniforms, and what they represent, made a difference.

Agreed. Apologetics often centers around defending the faith, rather than meeting the needs of the individual. What we need more of is seeking to understand people's genuine concerns. I say that, not out of criticism, but because it is something I genuinely need to be continually reminded of.

The former is generally a combative and defensive stance. The latter, not so much.

cdowis got a reaction from askandanswer in Article on how God speaks to Mormons
Many of these experiences are very sacred but I can share with you this experience.

Many years ago I was very active in a Christian church.  One day a school friend invited me to his youth group meeting, and the Mormon missionaries  had been invited to tell them what we believe.  When I went, it was the second or third meeting.

The lesson was on the Plan of Salvation.  They talked about where we came from, why we were here on earth, and what happens to us after death.  As they were speaking, I had the very strong impression that I had heard this all before.  I remember saying to myself, "This is very familiar.  I know that I have heard this before".  I went through my memory, but could not remember where I had learned this.

In that moment I heard a quiet voice speak very clearly to me.  "It is true".  That's all it said.

I can clearly remember that experience now over 50 years later. It so imprinted itself on my soul that I have never doubted that they were telling the truth.  It was before I learned about Joseph Smith and the Book of Mormon.

Whenever I think of this experience, it makes me think of the hymn, "Amazing Grace".

Family history and temple work for my ancestors, if the Lost Tribes allow me to get into there.  I understand they will be pretty much taking them over during this time to catch up on their own work.

God can also speak to us in dreams.  I have had several where they helped me to have better understanding of God and life, to comfort me, to give me encouragement.
