  1. I've read similar pages that debunk Christianity as a cult. I'd never really thought about how religious practices may be interpreted by others outside of that religion or those opposed. But for reading things through systematically I find that sites that use the world cult as somewhat lacking in objectivity *funny that*.
  2. The trial starts Monday? according to the news. I think people will be watching carefully to see whether due process takes place. The petition was submitted May 1st?. From what I understand the children have been fostered out all over the state and that the summons was published in the newspapers as the parents are scattered all over the state...but this is according to the newspapers which don't always report accurately. As obviously some are not. What the clauses are for the reunification of families (which will be read at the trials) I would like to know.
  3. Because nursing someone in their later years with their pants down to their knees and their hats on backwards is hard to do when you're still young and active LOL.
  4. This is a great idea...but I'll just be a listener and read along I think. Looking forward to your thoughts on Chapter two. (I don't attend church *not LDS* so this makes it a very cool thing to actually be kind of part of a bible study group. Thanks for that).
  5. When it comes up as a UN declaration, I guess it's time to get worried.
  6. Lol
  7. I think I'd agree with your Hubby. http://www.nytimes.com/2007/10/30/business/30device.html?ref=business
  8. No that the earth is stuck together from bits and pieces that happened to have dinosaur bones in it....*?*
  9. I've never heard of it...honestly.
  10. I have worn a cross before: as a symbol of Christ's love, sacrifice and giving...and as a reminder of what it is to be Christ-like...His love and His grace. Okay, an empty cross makes a bit more sense to me. I'm a bit weirded out by people who see it as some sort of 'evil' symbol. I guess I'd never really thought about it as wearing an instrument of torture and death around my neck. But really, how can I find it offensive...or shun it...or turn away from it. I was reading through some responses to atonement and came across someone who thought the whole crucifixion "Morally repugnant that an innocent person should pay the price" Morally repugnant. Their response is 'revulsion'. It kind of does my head in.
  11. I would say there should be a closed young singles group and an open aged single adult group (all welcome). Morning Star...if they're going to pursue youngish women...I would rather know that.. even if it did mean I felt somewhat overlooked... ; )
  12. It's one thing to set a goal or resolution and another to make an oath or contract. But good on you and I wish you every success.
  13. I've read the book too. I'd say bringing out what they value the most about themselves and is great about them.
  14. Oh....and peace....thanks Bert.
  15. Not really speculating Moshka...just investigating.
  16. Meh...to even when we don't feel like it..it sounds like apathy and indifference. But you are right about doing things like reading and praying...not sure about being habitual...that sounds apathetic too. I think most people who are of a serious nature are quite stricken about it.
  17. I can't remember the last time I began a sentence with, "I promise".
  18. Heh heh......when in doubt snopes.com.
  19. Bert, thankyou...I came across the at-one-ment and had absolutely no idea why someone would write the word that way. Not quite sure what you mean by deception? It's not for an academic exercise...or hopefully not Hemi and Tom.
  20. If pre-existence is a totally new idea to you...then thinking through how a pre-existence changes things or concepts is something you do... it's relevant when reading different explanations of attonement from an LDS perception. This gives me a better understanding.
  21. Thankyou, I've been wondering about this one for ages.
  22. Thankyou for sharing Vanhin. That gives me enough of a basic understanding to kind of process what I'm reading about it. I appreciate your help.
  23. Those that were more valiant in the pre-existence more valiant in this existence? I'm curious about what people believe on this one.
  24. You can't base a testimony of faith on sin...in my opinion or understanding of things...it has to be on what is true. I don't know what is useful about listing what not to believe in aka I know that this church is not true because......this is why rejecting gospel doctrine doesn't cut it. What do you believe is true and why? What truth have you found?
