it's what he really thinks, even if it isn't true (Ray quote) Not sure that I know what other people are 'thinking'. He didn't use the word pigs Ray. Interesting substitution.

2007 article here Technology Review: Cheap Nano Solar Cells Certainly sounds interesting.

No I haven't seen it...a bit too graphic a movie for me..... but I did hear about the Mel incident and the racist and sexist comments he made to the arresting officers when pulled over and taken into custody. He didn't want to get in the police car and they ended up handcuffing him. In fairness here are his comments: Gibson said 3 concerns may have led to his remarks: 1) the 2006 war in Lebanon which was in its 17th day 2) the general level of escalating violence in the Middle East as relating to Israel 3) those Jewish individuals who gave him a "brutal sort of public beating" over the making of The Passion of the Christ where he never heard a "single word of apology". BTW He also allegedly claimed to "own" the city of Malibu, California. I don't think alcohol and verbal accuracy go together.

Soul/spirit question

BTW Have JOY too A-Train and Happy Easter. -
I have a slightly unusual name, which has become more common over time. I envy people with functional names whenever I have to spell it out umpteen times over the phone. Mostly I don't bother to correct people unless I absolutely have to. I don't mind. I also have an offbeat sense of humour, introducing myself rather quickly is a source of entertainment at boring social gatherings.

oh okay: incorruptible physical body equals resurrection. -
Soul/spirit question
WANDERER replied to WANDERER's topic in Learn about The Church of Jesus Christ Of Latter-day Saints
It is the reassimilation of the spirit body with an incorruptible physical body. Could we not have that otherwise? Am I missing something? -

What does redemption of the whole soul: spirit and body mean? -
Soul/spirit question

Just realised that it would be incorrect to say as spirit beings that we did not have emotions. Perhaps the soul is more your 'personality' or consciousness. -
Soul/spirit question
WANDERER replied to WANDERER's topic in Learn about The Church of Jesus Christ Of Latter-day Saints
Okay so would it follow that..? the soul is your mind will and emotions the spirit is the life force from God. That makes us Triune beings, body, soul (mind will emotions), spirit (life) Is your spirit the part that connects you to God? -
Traditionally it's the 'golden' wedding anniversary: something that they will treasure (anything that you would give as a present I'm sure they will treasure) and then wrap it up in a 'gold' theme.

Should I be concerned? Or am I overreacting?

I'd say it probably isn't any more meaningful than any of the passwords I have used in the past...just something easily remembered out of habit. I'd say that if there were any residual issues he would have thought that through before handing over the password. The fact that you did get it would be an indication that it was a resolved thing and that you had his complete trust and honesty. He obviously doesn't think handing over the password is going to cause any problems, otherwise he would have hidden it. The trial of separation is a hard one and can magnify small things into huge things. I know that if I were in your situation I'd be a tad upset too. Do something that is relationship affirming : ) . I'm thinking of a romantic picnic or a card with a loving message...it's hard for him too. Edit: Simultaneous post. Great minds think alike : ))) -
I went to a 'very different' highschool. The librarian faithfully read through all the books and liquid papered out every offensive word and whole bits of text. A source of amusement for the students was 'replacement' reading. Book burning and music bonfires were commonplace 'youth entertainment'. It still happens. Looking further into censorship and it's history the destruction of various texts and music was done according to what people thought were 'criminal'. A bit of historical research into 'banned' material can show the tragedy of this. My two cents: A book is an inanimate object; it's effects are only as good or evil as the person who is reading it. The challenge is to be a responsible reader and to respond to it in a way that is faith promoting rather than demoting. Books are nowhere near as challenging as the situations that life often confronts you with.

Hi Hemi...I've been thinking about this: what is the measure of spirituality? I came across something I think you will recognise but i've forgotten the name of the person: it was a teaching on 'the difference between doing and becoming'. Anyway from there I went to people who blogged on what that meant to them and whether you could 'become' through doing. And even some responses to the whole 'being' thingy as get out there and do God's will and you'll get more out of it than just being aka what is the point of meditation when you could be helping someone type thingy. I understand that for some people faking it until you make it works and for others it just doesn't, but it was interesting to see that in action through people's comments. Anyway after reading and prayer my thoughts on Widstoe are: surrender and obedience really come down: trust and faith. The difference between doing and becoming I think is love. It is interesting that it is third on his list. But there's no doubt that being disobedient to God's will can have some sour consequences for your life and for those around you. Not understanding God's will because it is a 'doing thing' rather than a 'becoming' thing also has an effect. Other people's thoughts and further reading recommendations?

I was reading about mini-missions the other day...not sure if they are a possibility.

I don't understand...are you saying that God cannot do whatever He wishes to? -
It seems that people do convert to a church they are 100% sure of and then change their minds. What then happens to them.

My issue with it is if I convert to LDS and then walk away from it...it's a bit of a minefield in terms of salvation. Would that be a fair comment on only true churches?

Radical LDS?

Hemidakota, I admit to not understanding your post..but following Elphy's post I think you are saying that church structure can change to administer needs? -
People seek answers to this question...it's normal. It invites a response. Hopefully a better one than that Elgama, that's a shocker.

My journey on this involves being a kid and hearing conflicting statements, but these are all out of the mouths of other children, possibly not doctrinal: My SDA friends, shared that those who didn't have Sabbath on Saturday were going to hell. My Christadelphian friend shared that wearing a hat in church was essential. I don't think hell was mentioned on that one...just God's extreme disapproval to non-hat-wearing church goers. My Catholic friends said that deviating from Jesus's ordained church was the same thing. My Pentecostal friends said that you couldn't have salvation without speaking in tongues. LOL. So I guess that left me thinking as a kid what is the truth of all that...I think that different covenants or pathways exist. I may not neccessarily want to operate under them even though I believe none of them are essential clauses to going to hell.
