  1. I'm sorry, but any guy who HAS TO GET HIS POINT ACROSS BY TYPING LIKE THIS IS THE REAL IDIOT, NOT YOU. I instantly ignore whatever the person is trying to debate when they type like that. It gives me a headache.
  2. Take care of yourself, now. There is no way you can fix a marital relationship being as stressed out as you are (that is, if you chose to reconcile after all that garbage). There is no way you can give your kids the attention they deserve when you are so emotionally wrecked. You will have a harder time finding a job or going to school to support your children on your own if you don't mellow out. Not a single thing about your situation can change until you get yourself some emotional backup. Go to a psychologist. Get counseling for a while, you may not need medication. BUT, if he winds up prescribing medication, don't be too proud to take it. It's not crack, it's medicine. There is nothing wrong with taking it if you absolutely need it to function. Don't let anybody make you feel bad for getting yourself help. On another note, your husband may have some mental issues of his own, and i'm not saying that to be cruel, but if you are telling the truth about the sort of things he is saying to you simply for a reaction....that is not normal behavior. Most healthy-minded men would never say anything like that. Which makes me believe he may be sick. It doesn't excuse the behavior, but if he's mentally ill then there isn't anything that you can do to help him per se. I'm sorry, I feel really bad when people go through this. Nobody should have to put up with this sort of crap from their husband or wife.
  3. Nuh, uh. Seriously? What game, and which one? I guess I thought you were a lot younger with that...Not that you are old or anything..
  4. I believe they were into KMFDM, but I don't remember for sure. But yeah, it's not as easy to put Sacha, or even Tim Skold for that matter, on the cover of an American magazine because most people in the US don't know who they are. There is always a level of influence, this is true. But we don't cut slack to people who molest children, even though there is a fair chance they were molested themselves as a kid. In my opinion, several things need to be done, and banishing metal bands is not one of those things. I know that for me growing up, music was an outlet that actually kept me from committing a violent act like this. FIRST OF ALL, teach your children some fricken' compassion. Kids are brutal, and a lot of adults who are aware of it turn a blind eye to it. I know very few people who can stand being tormented day in and day out without lashing out somehow. Oh, here's one; PAY ATTENTION TO YOUR KIDS. I don't understand how parents could not notice that their kid is all of a sudden reading "The Anarchist Cookbook" like it's the bible and stowing away explosives and guns in their bedroom. On another note, has our educational system gone so far down the drain that kids cannot recognize the basic symbolism and satire that exists in most music? It's art, not reality. I wasn't the brightest crayon in the box at 16 years old, but even I knew that lyrics represented fantasy, not the world I was actually living in and thus couldn't be taken seriously. I'm trying to think of what was popular when I was a kid...Limp Bizkit? Lol, the only person their music inspired me to kill was Fred Durst for being such a tool and a bad musician.
  5. I can't say that I believe it's that low. If that's the case, my area is making up that entire 6%.
  6. Do you remember the part where the main character has "dreams" that his parents give him pills for? It was hinted that the dreams were nocturnal emissions, although as a child I didn't know that. That was an issue, and also that the community the character lived in was socialistic and atheistic. Once again though, these things are never stated, only implied. Those are the reasons I heard parents didn't want it in the library. They were trying to ban Harry Potter from the library last I heard, along with historical books about Freud and Marx. So far they've had no luck, but you never know.
  7. Both books are amazing pieces of literature, she should be thankful that her teachers were allowed to teach them in the first place. Some of the less cultured parents in our area had both books removed from the school library, along with other books like "The Giver" and "Oliver Twist". I was the last class to have studied any of these books in school no thanks to some parents.
  8. No, I would not ask a woman who only had a baby a month ago to sit. Not only is it rude, but it isn't smart either. By most doctor's standards a woman would not be able to go back to their paid job yet (most say six weeks), babysitting is a job like any other even if you are not paid for it. Plus what if the woman had a c-section? She couldn't pick a child up if needed. Bad idea, i'm really surprised people would ask unless it's a REAL emergency.
  9. I've never heard of an Asp/BPD misdiagnosis. Although I was misdiagnosed as ADHD for a very long time, eventually somebody had the brilliant idea that I may be Bi Polar. That's very interesting, and I could see how it would happen because there are a lot of similarities between Asp and BPD. I have bouts of psychosis though when unmedicated, so I don't think anyone would think I had Asp. As for the cutting, wear a stack of rubber bands around your wrists and snap them when you feel the urge. It will sting a bit like the cuts would, but no marks.
  10. I understand where you are coming from on the Bi Polar thing. Don't worry about it right now, go to the meetings you can go to. No one is going to hold a disease against you when it concerns sacrament attendance, and if they do then that's their problem.
  11. If people are so easily influenced by the music they listen to that they would stab another person over it then there are bigger issues there and they would have more than likely done it anyway. Besides, the media is real quick to jump on the blame bandwagon, and more often than not are incorrect. Remember when Columbine happened, and everyone thought it was because of Marilyn Manson? The media feds us all that crap for years, even after it was revealed that Harris and Klebold didn't even like his music to begin with. In fact, Eric Harris wrote on many of his online blogs that he thought Manson was a "fag". But no, the blame can't ever be on the person wielding the weapon, or the parents who raised them. It's much easier to scare the country into thinking some scary rockstar in a mask is the reason why our kids are screwed up. Can people just one time take responsibility on themselves? Just once?
  12. Yeah, i've got an appointment with a stylist on sat. He comes very highly recommended, his wife used to do my nails when I was in college, i've seen his work and he's really good. I'm sure he'll have an opinion when I get there, I just wanted to have some thoughts ahead of time for when I go.
  13. I think she looked awesome, my husband and I were both envious. But whatev. My hair looks like this now, sorry it's in B&W I couldn't find the original. I used an attachment. You can't see it, but in that picture my hair is auburn, I dyed it a few shades darker than in my avatar picture because the sun during summertime makes it a really gross orange color.
  14. In all seriousness, I would do it if I thought for a minute I could pull it off. Natalie Portman looked like a goddess bald.
  15. What in the heck should I do with my hair? I didn't want to hijack the other thread so I started a new one. I've had it every color, every cut, i've even had a weave (I don't recommend, they hurt like crazy.) A few months ago I had my hair cut into a very layered style. I loved it, but i'm sick of little pieces and bits hanging out all over. I'm looking for something more one length, so i've been growing it out for a while to get the shortest layers longer so I have more options when it's snipping time. I'll take super-short, i'll take long, i'll take any color on the planet. I'm just bored and need a change. I prefer bangs, because my forehead is a little long. Any thoughts? I'm not around females much offline, so I have no one to go to for hair advice. I'll tell you what I really want, one of those retro 1920's bobs that have come back in. Not the inverted ones, the shorter ones with the thick, straight bang. But I don't know if my face would work or not. Should I post pictures of my hair now or something? The pic under my screen name is old, neither myself or my hair looks like that anymore. I need help, I'm getting it cut and maybe dyed on Saturday one way or the other.
  16. I agree, i've become a big fan of FAIR recently. Historical fact aside, it's important to pray about information you come across in your search. All the documentation in the world means very little if your spirit is telling you otherwise. This is true no matter the resource of said information.
  17. These guys get some of the worst greetings in the history of the world. You aren't going to offend them, I can promise you that. It's just procedure that they check in with people who order the book. You wouldn't be the first Atheist to order the book for educational purposes, I did so years and years ago when I considered myself to be an Atheist. It's no big, it's nice to see people educating themselves on our faith. Even if you didn't join the church after reading our scriptures you could still vouch for us that we aren't scary or cultish. Either way it's a win-win. If they contact you again just explain the situation the same way you did to us. Also, if you have any questions about your new reading material, call them up. Even if you have no intention of joining i'm sure they would still be happy to answer inquiries, even if it's just for the sake of education.
  18. My brother in law is on a mission in Russia right now, and I hate to break it to Russians but that kid couldn't even spell CIA. Don't I wish though, how cool would it be to get a wrist walkie-talkie when you got confirmed?
  19. Sweets aren't my thing, now fried foods are a weakness of mine. Luckily, there are tons of things you can eat that are healthy and sweet. Fruits are obvious, there are loads of sugar free candies and deserts, try a diabetic cook book. One thing that helps is to make your own sweets from home. Home made ice cream, candy, deserts and popsicles will almost always be better for you, as you have control over how much of each ingredient goes in.
  20. Ask the people who think the Holocaust never happened. The trick is finding info from non-biased third parties, not the church or anti's. With that in consideration, i've found that the internet is the worst place for correct information, as just about anyone can post whatever they would like and make up nonsense citations. Don't even get me started on Wikipedia. Libraries are nice. Even then, I found many a cult history book with our church included in the chapters. It's all about using common sense. I don't know what Elph's resources are, but she's fairly well-informed. Where do you get your history research from E?
  21. I take it you've never seen the musical "Wicked"? Lol. Back on topic, great post.
  22. I hope the members of the congregation you are visiting are as gracious as jeswitts is.
  23. Why bother? ^ Because in our case, the opportunity to be sealed wasn't an option, as I was not a member. On top of that, I could not become a member until my husband and I were married as our son was born out of wedlock. You can call civil marriages a "guise" and insinuate that they are meaningless all you want, but I would not be a member of the church today had I not been married by the government in a "guise" of a civil marriage.
  24. I can understand why you wouldn't want to contribute to another person's less-than-spiritual movie collection by selling your own movies, but in all honesty I would sell them if you are having money problems. To me, it's a no-brainer. If you don't want them in your house then take them to a Capitol Records or a Game Stop and sell 'em. Or trade them in for more family-friendly films.
  25. ^ I'm a little confused about your post. Are you trying to be confrontational with jeswitts about her faith? If not, I apologize. It's hard for me to interpret tone via the internet. I am just curious,
