Blessed2bLDS Posted February 17, 2009 Report Posted February 17, 2009 I know for myself...I am always the one behind the camera, so I don't have a lot of photos of me...don't know about others, but that's why I don't!! :) Quote
LittleWyvern Posted February 17, 2009 Report Posted February 17, 2009 A lot of people (including myself) don't think it's a good idea to put their pictures on the internet. Generally, you don't want to put enough personally identifiable information out there so that somebody with a little bit of resources can uniquely identify you. From there you get into all sorts of trouble. Alternatively, you could just put a picture of something cool looking there and then hope people assume you also look cool. *whistles innocently* Quote
jolee65 Posted February 17, 2009 Report Posted February 17, 2009 Well for me lol,.this may sound alittle vain but ive changed so much since I turned 40 that I couldnt take a good picture if my life depended on it, lol. Quote
Truegrits Posted February 17, 2009 Report Posted February 17, 2009 Wondering why a lot of people here don't put their real pic on their profile pic?Because there are so many other things I would rather look at, than my own reflection... Quote
beefche Posted February 17, 2009 Report Posted February 17, 2009 Who says they aren't? I think Pale, Pam, Ceebo and a few others really do look like a horse, an orange person, and squirmy dude. Quote
Guest missingsomething Posted February 17, 2009 Report Posted February 17, 2009 Beefche... I love your cow! Quote
beefche Posted February 17, 2009 Report Posted February 17, 2009 Beefche...I love your cow! Thanks! If you get too wet, just say something. I'll try to cut back for you. Quote
NeuroTypical Posted February 17, 2009 Report Posted February 17, 2009 I prefer anonymity. It means I get to share personal details without embarassing my wife.LM Quote

It means I get to share personal details without embarassing my wife.LMI have a sneaking suspicion that you embarrass her enough, LM. BTW, I still like your other avatar. I get confused when I see your name next to this new one--I keep looking for the pot bellied, funny looking person. Quote
Dr T Posted February 17, 2009 Report Posted February 17, 2009 Because I like the trees I usually put up. They are symbolic or something... Quote

Lbybug Posted February 17, 2009 Report Posted February 17, 2009 my profile pic/avatar changes depending on my mood. if there's a pic of myself that i like, i'll use it. if i come across a funny pic (buddah gopher) i'll use it. if i come across a beautiful picture, i'll use that. just depends on what i find randomly floating around on the internet. Guest Godless Posted February 17, 2009 Report Posted February 17, 2009 I have a few pics of myself on my profile. I'm not ashamed to show off my hunkiness! Quote
Dr T Posted February 17, 2009 Report Posted February 17, 2009 Good call u "big hunk" from a secure guy saying it. (no wink and side hug with closed hand/fists and two fist pats and that's all) Quote
Guest kulds Posted February 17, 2009 Report Posted February 17, 2009 I really don't like my pic so I'm probably never going to use one. Other then looks, pic's rarely say much other than race and gender. A personal picture won't suggest what someone's religion, political affiliation, and personal beliefs are most of the time. I think the pictures people use found on the internet (art, pictures of animals, cartoons) do reflect a lot of the individual's creativity and personality. Just my 2 cents. Quote
applepansy Posted February 17, 2009 Report Posted February 17, 2009 I resemble an apple. . . I feel like an apple with a bite out of it. . . so this one seems to reflect me the best. A pic of me wouldn't do that. applepansy Quote
Hemidakota Posted February 17, 2009 Report Posted February 17, 2009 Just wondering Good question.... Quote

AngelLynn Posted February 17, 2009 Report Posted February 17, 2009 I've used my real pic. Not too sure if I like it, it's pic when I was doing service with Americorps. But generally I am usually the one behind the camera soooo getting pictures of me gets to be difficult at times. Quote
Islander Posted February 17, 2009 Report Posted February 17, 2009 I think pics are a distraction. They have nothing to do with who we are. In this setting it adds very little of value. Quote
